Kilgobnet (Irish: Cill Ghobnait, meaning "St. Gobnet's Church") is a townland and electoral division in County Kerry, Ireland. Located near Killorglin, it is overlooked by the MacGillycuddy's Reeks mountain range. Kilgobnet townland, which is in the civil parish of Knockane, has an area of approximately 1.1 square kilometres (0.42 sq mi). It had a population of 45 people as of the 2011 census.The townland is named for a medieval church, now in ruins, traditionally associated with St. Gobnait. Other archaeological sites in the townland include a possible Ogham stone and several standing stone and ring fort sites.The local national (primary) school, Kilgobnet National School, was built in the 1980s to replace an earlier 19th century building. As of 2024, it had an enrollment of 82 pupils.

Beaufort (Irish: Lios an Phúca) is a small village that lies on the banks of the River Laune in County Kerry, in the southwest of Ireland. It consists of a post office, three public houses, one supermarket, parish hall, guest houses and thirty private houses. As of the 2016 census, the population was 251. Beaufort sits at the foot of Ireland's highest mountain Carrantuohill. Edward Day, Archdeacon of Ardfert from 1782, lived here until his death in 1808. His estate later passed to his nephew, the Reverend John Robert Fitzgerald-Day, who lived at Beaufort from the 1840s to his death in 1881. In 1911, Kalem Company, an American moving-picture company spent several weeks in the village shooting films. Among the company: the director Sidney Olcott, actress Gene Gauntier, Alice Hollister and actors Jack J. Clark, Robert Vignola, JP McGowan, the cinematographer George K. Hollister. The first film was Rory O'More. This was followed by The Colleen Bawn and Arrah-na-Pogue, which were adapted from Dion Boucicault's plays.Olcott returned to Beaufort each summer until 1914. He rented the hotel owned by Patrick O'Sullivan who also owned a pub, which still exists today: The Beaufort Bar.

Milltown (Irish: Baile an Mhuilinn, meaning 'town of the mill') is a small town on the N70 national secondary road between the major towns of Tralee and Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. It is approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) from Killorglin.

Killaclohane Portal Tomb is a megalithic tomb located in the townland of Killaclohane, about 2km east of Milltown, County Kerry, Ireland. This Neolithic tomb dates to 3800 BC and is Kerry’s oldest man-made structure and earliest identified burial monument. In 2015, the portal tomb or dolmen was in imminent danger of collapse and was excavated and restored by a team led by Kerry County Archaeologist, Dr Michael Connolly. Prior to the excavation of Killaclohane Portal Tomb, very little was known about Neolithic settlement in Kerry and the beginning of agriculture.

MacGillycuddy's Reeks (Irish: Na Cruacha Dubha, meaning "the black stacks") is a sandstone and siltstone mountain range in the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. Stretching 19 kilometres (12 miles), from the Gap of Dunloe in the east, to Glencar in the west, the Reeks is Ireland's highest mountain range, and includes most of the highest peaks and sharpest ridges in Ireland, and the only peaks on the island over 1,000 metres (3,300 feet) in height. Near the centre of the range is Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest mountain at 1,038.6 metres (3,407 ft). The range was heavily glaciated which carved out deep corries (e.g. the Eagle's Nest), U-shaped valleys (e.g. Lough Coomloughra), and sharp arêtes and ridges (e.g. the Beenkeragh Ridge).The range, part of the Reeks District, is a destination for mountain walkers and climbers and includes some of Ireland's most regarded walking routes such as the 15–kilometre Coomloughra Horseshoe, and the 26-kilometre MacGillycuddy's Reeks Ridge Walk that traverses the full range; it is estimated that over 140,000 people visit the range each year. The entire range is in private ownership; however, reasonable access is given for recreational use.

Killagha Abbey of Our Lady of Bello Loco, also called Kilcolman Abbey, is a ruined Augustinian abbey and former manor house in County Kerry, Ireland. The abbey is 1 km north-west of Milltown, near the River Maine.

Kilderry is a rural area in County Kerry, Ireland. It lies close to the N70 National secondary road between Milltown (2.6 km) and Killorglin (4.8 km). The townlands of Kilderry North (Irish: Cill Doire Thuaidh) and Kilderry South (Irish: Cill Doire Theas) are in the civil parish of Kilcolman.

Castlemaine railway station was on the Great Southern and Western Railway which ran from Farranfore to Valentia Harbour in the Republic of Ireland.
