Lake Peekskill, New York

Lake Peekskill is a small manmade lake located in the town of Putnam Valley in Putnam County, New York. Originally called Lower Cranberry Pond before being dammed, the lake was created as a destination recreational area in the 1920s by the McGolrick Co. by impounding a small unnamed tributary of Peekskill Hollow Creek with a dam on its southwest end.Summer cottages were then built adjacent to it for sale to New York City residents, developing into the hamlet of Lake Peekskill. Today's community is mostly year-round. There are three private beaches on the lake: North Beach, Singers Beach and Carraras Beach.

Putnam Valley is a town in Putnam County, New York, United States. The population was 11,809 at the 2010 census. Its location is northeast of New York City, in the southwestern part of Putnam County. Many residents of Putnam Valley commute to New York City daily for work or recreational purposes (Midtown Manhattan is around a forty five to fifty minute drive). Putnam Valley calls itself the "Town of Lakes".

WHUD (100.7 FM) is an adult contemporary music radio station licensed to Peekskill, New York, United States. The station is owned by Pamal Broadcasting and broadcasts at 50,000 watts ERP. Its transmitter facility is located in Philipstown, New York. WHUD's studios are located on Route 52 in Beacon, New York, along with other Hudson Valley Pamal stations. WHUD is responsible for the activation of the Hudson Valley area Emergency Alert System.

The Hudson Valley Islamic Community Center (HVICC) was founded by the local Muslim community in the Mohegan Lake area of Westchester County, New York. The current property was acquired on May 15, 2006. It features 7 acres of land and a 50,000 square foot Islamic Center.

The New York Times called it "the main shopping area of the town of Cortlandt Manor" in 2003. The current incarnation (and name) was founded in 1997 from buildings that made up the mostly enclosed Westchester Mall built in 1975. Many new buildings were added as well, and it is currently a predominantly outdoor shopping center, eventually growing to approximately 772,000 sq ft (71,700 m2). Anchor stores include Walmart, The Home Depot, Best Buy, Acme Markets, Barnes & Noble, PetSmart, Michaels, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshall's, and DSW. It also contains a 12-screen United Artists Theater, GameStop, DressBarn, Five Below, Mattress Firm, the Mohegan Lake post office and several restaurants including McDonald's, Applebee's, Panera Bread, Subway, Five Guys, Emperor's Garden, Mia's Pizza and Moe's Southwest Grill. There are 3 vacant spaces last left by Modell's Sporting Goods, Pier 1 Imports, and OfficeMax. On March 11, 2020, it was announced that Modell's Sporting Goods would close as part of a plan to close all stores nationwide after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.On May 19, 2020, it was announced that Pier 1 Imports would be closing as part of a plan to close all locations nationwide.On January 19, 2023, it was announced that Regal Cinemas would close as part of a plan to close 39 theaters nationwide.

John Jones Homestead is a historic home located at Van Cortlandtville, Westchester County, New York. It is a large, 1+1⁄2-story, 18th-century residence with Federal-style detailing. The five-bay, timber-frame dwelling sits on a massive rubble stone foundation. It has a gambrel roof with three dormers and pierced by three massive stone chimneys. A 1-story rectangular wing is sheathed in clapboard. Also on the property is a contributing small barn.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Old St. Peter's Church and Old Cemetery, also known as St. Peter's Church of Cortlandt is a historic Episcopal church and cemetery at Oregon Road and Locust Avenue in Van Cortlandtville, Westchester County, New York. The church was built in 1766 and measures 28 feet by 36 feet. It is a wood-frame building sheathed in clapboards and was restored in 1964. The nearby Elmsford Reformed Church was built in 1793 and is a close replica.The church served as a military hospital during 1781–1782. The cemetery includes graves of eight French soldiers, from Rochambeau's army, who died there.The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 with reference number 73001292. In an "additional documentation approval" listing, for the same reference number, the National Register included more information about the property in an expanded listing, in 2004. The documentation itself, dated 2003, describes one contributing site (the cemetery) and one contributing object, in addition to the already listed one contributing building of the property.

Van Cortlandtville School, also known as Common School District No. 10, is a historic school building located at Van Cortlandtville, Westchester County, New York. It was built about 1850 and is a small, one story, brick vernacular Gothic Revival style building. It has a steeply pitched, slate covered gable roof and board and batten siding. Additions were made to the original building in the early 20th century and in 1940. The building serves as headquarters of the Van Cortlandtville Historical Society.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Van Cortlandt Upper Manor House is a historic home of the van Cortlandt family located in Cortlandt Manor, Westchester County, New York. The original house was built about 1773 and subsequently enlarged and altered a number of times.

Lake Mohegan, commonly known as Mohegan Lake, is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of Yorktown in Westchester County, New York, United States. There is a private lake, Mohegan Lake, also known as "Lake Mohegan", with beaches which are occasionally closed for swimming due to harmful algal blooms.The town was home to several former summer bungalow colonies in the 1950s and 1960s. They included the Skyview Colony and Lakeview Colony off U.S. Route 6.

The Peekskill Valley Railroad was a 7 miles (11.3 km) long narrow gauge railroad in Peekskill, New York. It was inaugurated in 1873.
