Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown

Dún Laoghaire ( dun LEER-ee, Irish: [ˌd̪ˠuːn̪ˠ ˈl̪ˠeːɾʲə, - ˈl̪ˠiːɾʲə]) is a suburban coastal town in the traditional county of Dublin in Ireland. It is the county town of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, one of the three counties that replaced the old County Dublin in 1994. The town was built following the 1816 legislation that allowed the building of a major port to serve Dublin. It was known as Dunleary until it was renamed Kingstown in honour of King George IV's 1821 visit, and in 1920 was given its present name, the original Irish form of Dunleary. Over time, the town became a residential location, a seaside resort and the terminus of Ireland's first railway.

St. Nicholas Montessori College, Ireland delivers courses in Montessori education. Founded in 1978 by St. Nicholas Montessori Society of Ireland, in 1980 it purchased St. Nicholas House in Dun Laoghaire, and in 1984 the college commenced running training courses in Montessori education, initially a diploma awarded by the London Montessori Training Centre. In 1994 the college became accredited by National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA) and developed degree courses in Montessori education. Currently the college offers an undergraduate Level 7 Bachelor of Arts and a Level 8 BA (Hons) in Montessori Education, as well as a higher diploma, the qualifications are validated by the Irish Government's Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI). The college runs courses full-time and part-time, and from its Dublin and Cork locations. The current director of the college is Ian McKenna. The full-time degrees and higher diplomas are available for application to via the Irish Government's CAO system, and the Higher Education Grants scheme (SUSI) is available to students.

The Dún Laoghaire Harbour Police is a small, specialised police force in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, Ireland operating under the jurisdiction of the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company. The force has the power of arrest under Section 54 of the Harbours Act 1996 [1], to arrest persons in connection with offences under the Act, although they are then required to hand them over to the Garda Síochána. Prior to the passage of the Act, the Harbour Police were under the employ of the Department for the Marine and were sworn as constables under the Harbour, Docks & Piers Clauses Act 1847. The force was established in 1836 as the Kingstown Harbour Police under the provisions of the Kingstown Harbour Act 1836, making it the oldest extant police force in Ireland. The current name was taken in 1924.

County Hall (Irish: Halla an Chontae, Dún Laoghaire), formerly known as Dún Laoghaire Town Hall, and before that, Kingstown Town Hall, is a municipal facility in Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire in the county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland.

Pavilion Theatre (Irish: Amharclann an Phailliúin) is a theatre, cinema and arts centre in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland.

The Royal Irish Yacht Club is a yacht club located in Dún Laoghaire Harbour, County Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1831, with the Marquess of Anglesey, who commanded the cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo being its first Commodore. John Skipton Mulvany designed the clubhouse, which still retains a number of original architectural features since being opened in 1851.

DLR Lexicon, branded as dlr LexIcon, is a building in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland, housing the main public library and cultural centre of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council (DLR CC). It has attracted controversy, with opponents critical of its massive façade and its €36.6m cost at a time of austerity in Ireland, and supporters praising its interior, usability, and environmentally responsible construction.

Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Carlisle Pier were constructed in the nineteenth century for the purposes of sheltering ships and accommodating the mailboat which sailed between Dún Laoghaire and Holyhead. The nearby settlement of Dún Laoghaire has also previously been known as Kingstown and also as Dun Leary. Carlisle Pier has been known previously as Kingston Pier and the Mailboat Pier.

Dún Laoghaire Lifeboat Station is located at Queen's Road, in Dún Laoghaire , a seaside and harbour town in the administrative region of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, historically County Dublin, approximately 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) south east of Dublin, on the east coast of Ireland. Management of the Kingstown Lifeboat Station was transferred to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1862. The station currently operates a Trent-class All-weather lifeboat, 14-05 Anna Livia (ON 1200), on station since 1995, and a smaller D-class (IB1) Inshore lifeboat, Joval (D-865), on station since 2022.

The Mariners' Church is a former Church of Ireland church located in Haigh Terrace, near the centre of Dún Laoghaire town, southeast of Dublin city. It now houses the National Maritime Museum of Ireland.
