Nuevos Ministerios

The Hipódromo de la Castellana, also known as the Hipódromo de Madrid, was a sports facility dedicated to horse racing. Located on the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, Spain, it was designed by engineer Francisco Boguerín as one of the first official horse racing tracks in the city. The Hipódromo was inaguruated to celebrate the wedding of King Alfonso XII in 1878. In successive years, the venue also hosted football matches, mainly some Copa del Rey finals.With the widening of Paseo de la Castellana in the 1930s, the Hipódromo was closed and then demolished. The site, now occupied by the office buildings of Nuevos Ministerios, was on the outskirts of Madrid at that time. During its years of operation it was the meeting place of the gentry and aristocracy of the time. The main horse racing venue for Madrid, since the mid-twentieth century, has been the Hippodrome de la Zarzuela.

Paseo de la Castellana, commonly known as La Castellana, is a major street in Madrid, Spain. Cutting across the city from South to North, it has been described as the "true structuring axis" of the city.

The equestrian statue of Francisco Franco was an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. The statue, depicting dictator Francisco Franco riding a horse, was removed from its location in Nuevos Ministerios and subsequently stored in March 2005.

Indalecio Prieto Tuero or, simply, the Statue of Indalecio Prieto (Spanish: Estatua de Indalecio Prieto), is an instance of public art located in Madrid, Spain. Located next the Nuevos Ministerios building complex, it consists of a bronze statue depicting (and dedicated to) Indalecio Prieto, minister of Public Works during the Second Spanish Republic and promoter of the construction of the Nuevos Ministerios.

Nuevos Ministerios is a major multimodal rail station on the Madrid Metro and the Cercanías Madrid commuter rail network. It is located beneath the Nuevos Ministerios (New Ministries) government complex and the AZCA financial centre at the junction of the Paseo de la Castellana and Joaquín Costa and Raimundo Fernández Villaverde streets in Madrid, Spain. It services the districts of Tetuán, Chamberí, and Chamartín. The station serves Metro Line 6, Line 8, and Line 10, as well as Cercanías Lines C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, C-7, C-8, and C-10. It is located in Metro fare zone A and Cercanías fare zone 0.

Scuola Statale Italiana di Madrid or the Istituto Italiano Statale Comprensivo "Enrico Fermi" is an Italian international school in Madrid, Spain. Owned by the Italian government, it has scuola dell'infanzia, scuola primaria, scuola media, and liceo levels.

El Pozo Station is a Cercanías station in Vallecas neighborhood (Madrid). It was opened on July 15, 1992 and it is located in El Pozo area. It belongs to lines C-2 and C-7 of Cercanías Madrid. On the morning of March 11, 2004, a double-decker commuter train exploded with two bombs at this station, thus killing 67 people. It was later discovered that the Islamic terrorist cell Al-Qaeda was behind the attack.

Torre Titania is the twelfth-tallest skyscraper in Madrid, Spain and has become the country's largest mall. Construction began in mid-2007, after the burning of the Windsor Tower, which formerly occupied the site. The interior, which houses stores El Corte Inglés, was completed in October 2011, and the facade in late 2013. It has 23 floors and a height of 104 metres (341 ft), and is located on Calle Raimundo Fernández Villaverde, opposite to the Nuevos Ministerios Station and very close to the Paseo de la Castellana, in the economic complex AZCA.

The Windsor Tower (Spanish: Torre Windsor) was an office building in the financial center of Madrid, Spain. Built in 1979, it was 106 m (348 ft) high and had 32 floors of which 29 were above ground level and 3 below, thus ranking it as the eighth tallest building in Madrid (and 23rd in Spain). The building was gutted by a huge fire on February 12, 2005, and partially collapsed; it has since been demolished.

The Hand (Spanish: La mano) is a bronze sculpture by the Colombian sculptor Fernando Botero. Since 1994, it has been on public display in Madrid, Spain. The 500 kilogram hand is of a plump form, a trademark of the sculptor.The sculpture was one of twenty-one exhibits in a 1994 exhibition of Botero's work. After a public vote, Woman with Mirror was the sculpture that received the most votes and was gifted to the city by the artist. Madrid treasurer Fernando López Amor urged corporations to purchase other works and put them on public display. The Hand was bought by Telefónica in October 1994, for 70 million Spanish pesetas (around €420,000). Its matte finish made it more suitable than other exhibits for permanent outside display. A third Botero piece, Raptio of Europa, was installed at Madrid–Barajas Airport.In April 1995, Telefónica loaned the sculpture to the city and it was installed on Paseo de la Castellana. El País reported that its position seemed to point towards the Equestrian statue of Francisco Franco which then stood in the Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz.

Ríos Rosas is a neighborhood of Madrid belonging to the district of Chamberí. It takes its name from Antonio de los Ríos Rosas, a 19th-century politician.The ward is served by the Madrid Metro station called Ríos Rosas, one of the first stations to be opened on the network. The ward has recently filled up with cosy modern pubs and restaurants, especially in Ponzano Street.

The Monument to Isabella the Catholic (Spanish: Monumento a Isabel la Católica) is an instance of public art located in Madrid, Spain. A work by Manuel Oms, the monument is a sculptural bronze ensemble consisting of an equestrian statue of Isabella of Castile, accompanied by Pedro González de Mendoza and Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba.
