Lyngby Lake

Sorgenfri station is a station on the Hillerød radial of the S-train network in Copenhagen, Denmark. It serves Sorgenfri and the southern part of Virum. It is located at Hummeltoftevej 51 and is named for the nearby Sorgenfri palace.

Sorgenfri (lit. "free of sorrow", like Sans Souci) is a neighbourhood in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality in Greater Copenhagen lying just north of Kongens Lyngby. The neighbourhood is enclosed between the landmarks of a forest with Lyngby Åmose, Mølleådalen and Spurveskjulskoven (lit. "sparrow shelter" forest) in the south, the Furesø Lake in the west and the parklands of Sorgenfri Palace and the Open Air Museum in the east. In the north of Sorgenfri lies the town Virum - which was till the end of the First World War a village. Lottenborg is an inn located in Sorgenfri. The building originates from the 1700s, where the town's gatekeeper (Danish: vangemanden) lived, which gave the house the nickname 'the Gatekeeper's House' (Danish: Vangehuset). The gatekeeper worked on the royal Sorgenfri Castle, and when Princess Charlotte was born in 1789 and the house was renamed to Lottenborg in her honour. Lottenberg eventually became a popular inn, and worked as inn and restaurant for many years. After the death of the owner in 1993, the house was willed to Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality. It was put on sale in 2010 and sold in 2011.

Lottenborg is an 18th-century roadside inn located next to Sorgenfri Cemetery in Sorgenfri, Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is situated on Lottenborgvej (No. 14), a side street to Lyngby Kongevej located opposite Sorgenfri Palace. The building is still used as a restaurant but is only open for lunch Thursday through Sunday.

Lyngby Radio (call sign OXZ) is a Danish coast radio station, operating on MF and VHF. Lyngby Radio stopped HF service on 1 October, 2009. Earlier, Lyngby Radio was one out of four Danish coast radio stations, the others being Skagen Radio, Blåvand Radio and Rønne Radio. All these stations are now remote controlled from Lyngby Radio.

Frieboeshvile (lit. "Friboe's Resting Place") is a Baroque-style country house in Kongens Lyngby north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located across the street from Sorgenfri Palace, where Lyngby Main Street meets Lyngby Kongevej. The house takes its name after Frederik Casper Conrad Frieboe who is buried in the grounds together with his wife and a few other family members. Its most notable former resident is Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz who played an important part in the Rescue of the Danish Jews during World War II. The house now serves as a historic house museum showing how Copenhagen peers decorated their country homes in the late 18th century. It hosts a permanent and special exhibitions about local history as well as the local historic archives for Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality.

Fæstningskanalen (literally "The Fortification Canal") is a canal in central Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, Copenhagen, Denmark. Created in the 1880s as part of the new fortification ring around the Danish capital, it runs from Lyngby Lake in the west to Lyngby Hovedgade in the east. From there it originally continued to Ermelunden in Jægersborg Dyrehave, but this last leg of the canal is no longer filled with water. The project also included a more upstream straightening of the section of Mølleåen that connects Furesø in the west to the west side of Lyngby Lake in the east. The canal complemented the West Rampart (Vestvolden) and a series of coastal fortresses which were built at the same time. In the event of an enemy invasion, a dam at each end of the canal, one at Frederiksdal and one at Ermelunden, would be opened, and the natural drainage of Lyngby Lake would be blocked, leading to the flooding of an extensive area of land along Hvidørebækken all the way out to the Øresund coast. Water would also be led through Gentofte Lake to Utterslev Mose, leading to further floodings. Together with the moat in front of the West Rampart, this would create a complete water barrier around the Danish capital.

The Karlstrup Windmill (Danish: Karlstrup Stubmølle) is a post mill in the Sorgenfri neighborhood of Kongens Lyngby in Denmark.

Sorgenfri Palace (Danish: Sorgenfri Slot; lit. "Sorrow free", a calque of Sans Souci) is a royal residence of the Danish monarch, located in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, on the east side of Lyngby Kongevej, in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen. The surrounding neighbourhood is called Sorgenfri after it. Only the cellar and foundations survive of the first Sorgenfri House, which was built in 1705 to design by François Dieussart. The current house was built in 1756 by Lauritz de Thurah and later adapted and extended by Peter Meyn in the 1790s. Lauritz de Thurah has also designed buildings which flank the driveway closer to the road. Sorgenfri Palace is surrounded by a large park which is bounded by Mølleåen to the east. It was adapted to the English Romantic style in the late 1790s and early 1899s and contains several small buildings. Christian X used it as a summer residence and it has later been part of it let out to relatives of the royal family. The park is open to the public.

Frilandsmuseet (English: Open Air Museum) is an open-air museum on the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. The museum is located in Lyngby on Kongevejen in North Zealand. The museum can be reached directly by bus number 184 from Nørreport Station in central Copenhagen or by S-train to Sorgenfri station.

Lyngby Søndre Mølle, literally Lyngby Southern Mill, is a defunct watermill on Mølleåen located at Lyngby Hovedgade, Kongens Lyngby, in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The current building is from 1902. The name distinguishes it from nearby Lyngby Nordre Mølle.

Fuglevad is a neighbourhood and locality on the Mølleåen river in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. Fuglevad Watermill, located approximately one kilometer downstream from Lyndby Nordre Mølle, has a history that dates back to the 15th century but the current buildings are from the 1870s. Fuglevad Windmill, a smock mill from 1832, is now located inside the grounds of the Frilandsmuseet open-air museu which opened at the site in 1901. Fuglevad Station is located on the Nærum Line and is served by the railway company Lokaltog.

Framille is a listed house located on the Main Street in Kongens Lyngby, opposite Lyngby Church, in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The building is today part of Lyngby Library and is connected to the main library building by a glazed corridor in its north gable.
