James Monroe Houses

The Justice Sonia Sotomayor Houses and Community Center is a housing project in Soundview, The Bronx, New York City. Formerly known as the Bronxdale Houses, the project was renamed in honor of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who had spent part of her childhood in the development, in June 2010. The complex was originally opened in January 1955. The 28-building complex includes close to 1,500 apartments that house about 3,500 residents. The 30.77-acre development is bordered by Bruckner Boulevard and Watson, Soundview and Leland Avenues.

The Church of the Blessed Sacrament is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at Beach Avenue and Gleason Avenue, Soundview, the Bronx, New York City. The parish was established in 1927. It was merged into the parish of the Holy Family in 2015.

On March 16, 2017, New York City Fire Department emergency medical technician (EMT) Yadira Arroyo was murdered in the Bronx, New York, United States. 25-year-old Jose Gonzalez ran over Arroyo with her own ambulance, killing her and injuring her partner. Gonzalez, a mentally ill recidivist, was arrested at the scene and charged with the attack. Gonzalez was found mentally unfit to stand trial on several occasions. However, he was eventually determined to be sane and underwent trial. He was found guilty of Arroyo's murder in March 2023 and sentenced to life imprisonment the following month.

Soundview is a neighborhood on the Clason Point peninsula, on the southern section of the borough of the Bronx in New York City. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise, are the Cross-Bronx Expressway to the north, White Plains Road to the east, Lacombe Avenue to the south, and the Bronx River to the west. The Bruckner Expressway bisects the neighborhood horizontally along the center and the Bronx River Parkway runs north to south. Soundview Avenue is the primary thoroughfare through Soundview.

Adlai E. Stevenson High School was a New York City public high school located at 1980 Lafayette Avenue, in the Soundview section of the Bronx. The New York City Department of Education closed the school in June 2009, owing to poor performance (high truancy, violence and a low graduation rate). New, specialty schools were created as part of the New Century Schools initiative. The Parkchester station is an express station on the IRT Pelham Line of the New York City Subway. It is located above Hugh J. Grant Circle in the Parkchester neighborhood of the Bronx, where East 177th Street (the Cross Bronx Expressway service road), Metropolitan Avenue, and Westchester Avenue intersect. The station is served by the 6 train at all times and the <6> train during weekdays in the peak direction. By passenger count, Parkchester was the third-busiest station in the Bronx in 2017, behind 161st Street–Yankee Stadium and Third Avenue–149th Street, and the busiest station on the Pelham Line.

The Morrison Avenue–Soundview station is a local station on the IRT Pelham Line of the New York City Subway. It is served by the 6 train at all times and is located at Morrison Avenue and Westchester Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx.

Chevra Linas Hazedek Synagogue of Harlem and the Bronx was a synagogue located at 1115 Ward Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. The building was constructed between 1928 and 1932, and is a three-story, vernacular Romanesque Revival style. It has a plastic slate roof and yellow brick front façade with red brick and cast-stone accents. The front facade features a set of seven round-arch lancet stained-glass windows separated by wreathed cast-stone columns. In 1979, the synagogue sold the building to the Green Pasture Baptist Church, which has occupied the building since then.: 5 The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The Church of St. Anthony is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 1496 Commonwealth Avenue, Van Nest, Bronx, New York City, near the corner of Mansion Street and Commonwealth Avenue. Founded in 1908 as an Italian Personal Parish.

The Church of St. Joan of Arc is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 174th Street at Stratford Avenue, The Bronx, New York City. It was established in 1949.
