Catherine Street Burying Ground

The Betts–Longworth Historic District is located just northwest of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. The district consists of a ten-block sub-neighborhood of the historic West End of Cincinnati that contains Federal, Italianate and Queen Anne styles. The Betts House located at 416 Clark Street was built in 1804 and is the oldest brick house in Ohio. The Old Jewish Cemetery, Cincinnati is also located in the district. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 because of its architecture and because of a potential archaeological site within its boundaries.

The Cincinnati Female Seminary was a seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio. The seminary was located at the southwest corner of W Seventh and Mound Streets. The seminary started as a private seminary c. 1849 and run by T. A. Burrowes. By the fifth year there were 136 pupils.Funds were raised in 1854 for a public seminary of the same name, with a target of $35,000. The board of trustees was interdenominational. The inaugural principal was to be Burrowes. "By an arrangement entered into by the proprietors of the Cincinnati Female Seminary and the Mount Auburn Young Ladies’ Institute, the former was transferred to Mount Auburn, and the two schools consolidated into one in September, 1861."

Colored Industrial School of Cincinnati (also known McCall School and McCall Colored Industrial School) was a school for African Americans in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was established in 1914 at 724 W. Sixth Street.The school was established on property donated by Sallie J. McCall in her 1909 will. A trade school, courses included carpentry, masonry, cement work, automobile mechanics, driving, domestic science, dressmaking, and millinery. Through a $400,000 endowment McCall established, equivalent to $11,686,379 in 2022, the school did not charge tuition. Between 1914 and 1926 it had 600 graduates. In the 1930s it was relocated to 1301 John Street. Several years after Robert A. Taft Information Technology High School opened nearby, in 1962 Colored Industrial School of Cincinnati closed. Scholarships were established for African American students with the endowment's remaining funds.

The Betts House, built in 1804, is the oldest surviving building in Cincinnati and the oldest brick home in Ohio. This remarkable survivor of Cincinnati's period of settlement offers exhibits and programs that focus on Cincinnati history, historic preservation, and the built environment. In addition to be being a house museum, the Betts House is also the headquarters of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Ohio.

The Old Jewish Cemetery (also known as the Chestnut Street Cemetery and Bene Israel Burying Ground) in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the oldest Jewish cemetery west of the Allegheny Mountains. Opened in 1821, it is located just northwest of Downtown Cincinnati in the Betts-Longworth Historic District. It is situated just west of Central Avenue on the north side of Chestnut Street, in the historic West End. The cemetery is sited on a tiny plot enclosed by high walls and a locked gate. In 1821, when Benjamin Lieb was dying, he begged to be buried as a Jew. Morris Moses and Joseph Jonas, two of Cincinnati's six Jews, purchased the lot for Cincinnati's first Jewish cemetery from Nicholas Longworth for $75.00, and then buried Lieb there. The cemetery has 85 graves and has been closed since 1849 after the cholera epidemic filled the cemetery.This cemetery is now part of Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati (JCGC), a non-profit organization that resulted in the merger of almost all of the 26 Jewish cemeteries in the area. JCGC is governed by a board which began as representatives of the former cemetery owners, but is morphing into a pure community-based board, on the recognition by its founders that the care of the graves of ancestors should be a function of the entire Jewish community. This merger solved the problem of caring for cemeteries created by synagogues and other organizations that no longer exist.

Taft Information Technology High School is a public high school located in the West End area of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. It is part of the Cincinnati Public Schools district (CPS).

The Goodall Building is a historic commercial building in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Located on Ninth Street in the northwestern portion of the city's downtown, it was designed by George W. Rapp and erected in 1893. The building's walls are constructed primarily of brick and sandstone, although elements of iron and of other kinds of stone are also manifested on the exterior.The building's first owner, William Goodall, was a dealer of stone objects, selling blocks of granite and marble for various purposes. Both before and after arranging for the present structure's construction with Rapp, a leading city architect, he occupied premises nearby. Rather than using his new structure for his own business, he rented it to others; among his tenants were banks and various corporate offices.The Goodall Building is distinguished from surrounding structures by its many Second Renaissance Revival architectural elements. Such stone details as prominent columns and pilasters, a cornice with many articulations, and large blocks of sandstone, combined with the building's oriel windows, have led architectural historians to see it as one of Cincinnati's best examples of commercial Second Renaissance Revival architecture. In recognition of its well-preserved historic architecture, the Goodall Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in early 1984.

Holy Trinity Church (Heilige Dreieinigkeit) was the first German-speaking Roman Catholic church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was located at West Fifth Street and Mound Street in Cincinnati's historic West End. The parish was founded in 1834 and the church was dedicated on October 5, 1834. Holy Trinity was founded to serve the growing tide of German-speaking Catholic population in Cincinnati. It was the mother church of the many German Catholic Churches in Cincinnati. In 1840, 30% of the population was German-speaking, necessitating the publication of ordinances in both German and English. Of the city's 12,000 Catholics, 8,000 were German. Some of the Cincinnati German parishes were: Old St. Mary's Church (1840), St. John the Baptist Church (1844), St. Philomena (1846), St. Paul Church (Over the Rhine) (1847), St. Michael the Archangel Church (1847), St. Augustine (1852), Immaculata Church (1859), and St. Anthony (1860) and St. Stephen (1867). Records for this Parish are located at: Chancery Office of the Archdiocese, 100 East Eighth Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 This was the second parish founded in Cincinnati and was closed in 1958. The building was torn down for urban renewal and the construction of Interstate 75. Lost with this church were the Frank Duveneck murals, which were painted on each side of the main altar.

The Fire Museum of Greater Cincinnati, also known as the Cincinnati Fire Museum, preserves and exhibits Greater Cincinnati, Ohio's firefighting artifacts and honors firefighters, both past and present. Over 200 years of firefighting history is on display in the Fire Museum of Greater Cincinnati. Exhibits include examples of early leather fire buckets, an 1808 fire drum, the oldest surviving fire engine in Cincinnati, and an 1836 hand pumper. The museum also features and interactive exhibit that allows visitors to experience a modern Emergency-One fire engine cab by wailing the siren, ringing the bell, and flashing the lights.

Laurel Homes Historic District is a registered historic district in Cincinnati, Ohio, listed in the National Register of Historic Places on May 19, 1987. It contained 29 contributing buildings. All but three of the historic low-income public housing projects was razed between 2000–02 to make way for new condominiums.

Lloyd Library and Museum is an independent research library located in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Its core subject and collection focus is medicinal plants, with emphasis on botany, pharmacy, natural history, alternative medicine, and the history of medicine and science.

West End is a neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, located northwest of downtown, east of Queensgate, west of Over-the-Rhine, and southeast of Fairview. The population was 6,627 at the 2010 census.The historic West End was largely razed in the 1950s as part of a series of urban renewal projects, including the construction of Interstate 75.The West End is the location of City West, the largest housing development project in Cincinnati since World War II. The project transformed the once low-income area into mixed-income development. In 1999 many of the blighted, cramped buildings were leveled to make way for new townhomes with ample parking. In 2007, part 1 crimes were down by 30% when compared to 1999.Controversy erupted in 2005 when plans were announced to open a $15-million "one-stop" social services facility at 800 Bank Street. The project, known as CityLink, would be the largest such facility in Cincinnati. Some argued that it would increase crime and poverty in the West End, decrease property value, and undermine the redevelopment there. Some even accused the city of trying to relocate the poor from the thriving Over-the-Rhine neighborhood to the West End. However, proponents argued that the West End's central location makes it easy for the poor to access. A lawsuit to stop the CityLink project failed, as did the subsequent appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court. CityLink Center has since launched in 2013, serving over 3,000 Cincinnati residents since that time including over 250 from the West End neighborhood. Individuals engage in the center to advance their lives holistically through the integrated support of over 14 on-site agencies. The development of CityLink Center has not resulted in crime, development has actually further continued, and property values have increased. The West End is served by a branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.TQL Stadium, the home stadium of Major League Soccer team FC Cincinnati, is located in the neighborhood.
