Oriel Park is a UEFA Category 2 football stadium located on the Carrickmacross Road in Dundalk, Ireland. The stadium is the home ground of Dundalk Football Club and is owned and operated by the club on land that has been leased from the Casey Family Trust since 1936. The ground has a capacity of 3,100 for European matches (i.e. 3,100 seats) and 4,500 for domestic games (i.e. with the remainder standing). Oriel Park's attendance record is an estimated 18,000, set in 1982 for Dundalk's European Cup Winners' Cup second round tie against Tottenham Hotspur F.C.

Dundalk Clarke railway station (Irish: Stáisiún Dhún Dealgan Uí Cleirigh) serves Dundalk in County Louth, Ireland. It consists of an island platform, with a bay facing south. It is served by the Dublin-Belfast "Enterprise" express trains as well as local Commuter services to and from Dublin. There is a small museum located in one of the station buildings, displaying various railway artefacts and photographs.

Irene White was an Irish mother-of-three who was stabbed to death at her house in Dundalk in 2005. Investigations later revealed that her death was the result of a contract killing, rather than a burglary gone wrong or a random attack. The dramatic circumstances of White's murder caused widespread outrage in Ireland, where non-gangland related violent crime is a rare occurrence. Two men were later sentenced to life in prison for her murder, however speculation around their motives and the identity of who ultimately ordered White's killing continues to the present day.

During the evening of 19 December 1975, two coordinated attacks were carried out by the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) in pubs either side of the Irish border. The first attack, a car bombing, took place outside Kay's Tavern, a pub along Crowe Street in Dundalk, County Louth, Republic of Ireland - close to the border. The second, a gun and bomb attack, took place at Donnelly's Bar & Filling Station in Silverbridge, County Armagh, just across the border inside Northern Ireland. The attack has been linked to the Glenanne gang, a group of loyalist militants who were either members of the UVF, the Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR), the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) and the closely linked UVF paramilitary the Red Hand Commando (RHC), some of the Glenanne gang were members of two of these organizations at the same time like gang leaders Billy Hanna who was in both the UVF and the UDR and who fought for the British Army during the Korean War and John Weir who was in the UVF and was a sergeant in the RUC. At least 25 UDR men and police officers were named as members of the gang. The Red Hand Commando claimed to have carried out both attacks.

The Battle of Tragh-Bhaile was fought in Ireland in 1399 between the forces of Henry O'Neill's sons and the Anglo-Irish. The Anglo-Irish were victorious. The O'Neill forces, led by Donal MacHenry of Tyrone, attacked the King's troops at Tragh-Bhaile (Dundalk, County Louth), but were repulsed. Donal was captured and sent to England.

Lisdoo is a small townland north of Dundalk in County Louth, Ireland. The townland, which is approximately 122 acres (0.2 sq mi) in area, is in the electoral division of Dundalk Rural. It is in the civil parish of Dundalk. The Castletown River flows to the south of Lisdoo.
