The Domodedovo International Airport bombing was a suicide bombing in the international arrival hall of Moscow's Domodedovo International, in Domodedovsky District, Moscow Oblast, on 24 January 2011. The bombing killed 37 people and injured 173 others, including 86 who had to be hospitalised. Of the casualties, 31 died at the scene, three later in hospitals, one en route to a hospital, one on 2 February after having been put in a coma, and another on 24 February after being hospitalised in grave condition. Russia's Federal Investigative Committee later identified the suicide bomber as a 20-year-old from the North Caucasus, and said that the attack was aimed "first and foremost" at foreign citizens.

Moscow Domodedovo International Airport (Russian: аэропорт Домодедово, IPA: [dəmɐˈdʲɛdəvə]) (IATA: DME, ICAO: UUDD), formally Domodedovo Mikhail Lomonosov International Airport, is an international airport serving Moscow, the capital of Russia. It is located in Domodedovo, Moscow Oblast, 42 kilometres (26 mi) south-southeast from the city centre of Moscow. Domodedovo Airport serves regular flights across Russia, as well as to Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and it is the third largest airport in Russia and the CIS after Sheremetyevo and Pulkovo. Domodedovo Airport is among the top twenty busiest airports in Europe. In 2022, the airport served 21.2 million passengers. In 2019, following a naming contest and a presidential decree, the airport was renamed after Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov.

Dagestan Airlines Flight 372 was a scheduled commercial flight between Moscow's Vnukovo Airport and Makhachkala, Russia. On 4 December 2010, the Tupolev Tu-154 operating the flight skidded off the runway following an emergency landing at Domodedovo Airport, 45 km south-east of Vnukovo. Two people on board were killed.

Aviastar-TU Flight 1906 was a Tupolev Tu-204 that crashed while attempting to land at Domodedovo International Airport, Moscow, Russia, in heavy fog on 22 March 2010. The aircraft was on a ferry flight from Hurghada International Airport, Egypt to Moscow, and had no passengers on board; all eight crew survived the accident, four with serious injuries requiring hospitalization and four with minor injuries. The accident was the first hull loss of a Tu-204 and the first hull loss for Aviastar-TU.Investigators determined the cause of the accident to be failure of the autopilot system and poor cockpit crew performance.

Domodedovo (Russian: Домодедово, IPA: [dəmɐˈdʲedəvə]) is a city in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 37 kilometers (23 mi) south of the capital Moscow. The population estimated in different years are 152,404 (2021 Census); 96,145 (2010 Census); 54,080 (2002 Census); 55,294 (1989 Census).. The increase of population is due to the merger of three neighboring inhabited localities into the town in 2004.

Domodedovsky District (Russian: Домоде́довский райо́н) was an administrative district (raion) of Moscow Oblast, Russia, which was municipally incorporated as Domodedovo Urban Okrug. Its administrative center was the town of Domodedovo. District's population: 135,405 (2010 Census); 124,572 (2002 Census); 68,538 (1989 Census). The population of Domodedovo accounted for 71.0% of the district's total population.

Gorki Leninskiye (Russian: Го́рки Ле́нинские) is an urban locality (a work settlement) in Leninsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) south of Moscow city limits and the Moscow Ring Road. Its population is: 3,586 (2010 Census); 1,729 (2002 Census); 1,711 (1989 Census).The estate of Gorki belonged to various Muscovite noblemen from the 18th century. Zinaida Morozova, the widow of Savva Morozov, purchased it in 1909, the year before she married General Anatoly Reinbot (later Anatoly Rezvoy), the chief of Moscow police. She engaged the most fashionable Russian architect, Fyodor Schechtel, to remodel the mansion in the then-current Neoclassical style, complete with a six-column Ionic portico. On 21 January 1924, Vladimir Lenin, the first leader of the Russian SFSR and subsequently the USSR, died at this estate, which he had used as his personal dacha since its nationalization in 1918.

The Pakhra (Russian: Пахра́) is a river in Moscow Oblast and the city of Moscow, Russia, a right tributary of the Moskva. It is 135 km in length. The area of its basin is 2580 km². The Pakhra River freezes up in November–December and stays under the ice until the late March–April. Main tributaries: Mocha and Desna. Gorki Leninskiye and Podolsk stand on the Pakhra River.

Myachkovo (Russian: Мя́чково) is a village (selo) in Ramensky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located near the mouth of the Pakhra River flowing into the Moskva River. It is the site of Bykovo railway station. The surrounding region contains large quantities of carboniferous limestone with inclusions of mineral shells, corals, and sea lilies (encrinites). The village is home to Myachkovo Airport and Autodrom Moscow circuit.

Verkhneye Myachkovo (Russian: Верхнее Мячково) is a rural locality (a selo) in Ramensky District, Moscow Oblast, Russia. Population: 618 inhabitants (2010). The distance to the town of Ramenskoye (the district's administrative centre) is about 20 km and the distance to Moscow is about 22 km.

Lytkarino (Russian: Лытка́рино) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Moskva River 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) southeast of Moscow (from MKAD). Population: 65,212 (2021 Census); 55,237 (2010 Russian census); 50,798 (2002 Census); 50,968 (1989 Soviet census).

The Autodrom Moscow is a race track located near Moscow, 13 km (8.1 mi) from Moscow Circuit Road and 31 km (19 mi) from the city center. The track is constructed in the Miachkovo Airport area which has been in use for motor racing since 2001. After the total reconstruction in 2005, it was the only racing facility in Russia until the Red Ring circuit has been opened in Siberia in 2007. The track design satisfies to FIA Grade III requirements. The raceway equipped with 18 pit boxes, 13×6 m each, race control tower with AMB time keeping system, grandstands for 2000 spectators and a small hotel.The Autodrom Moscow has unique feature: is allows racing both clockwise and counterclockwise. Main grandstand have 800 seats. The full length is 3.275 km (2.035 mi), the winter configuration is 1.640 km (1.019 mi) and the winter oval is 0.86 km (0.53 mi). The track is in use not only for sports but also for amateur driving and corporate events.
