The Central-West or Center-West Region of Brazil (Portuguese: Região Centro-Oeste do Brasil; [ʁeʒiˈɐ̃w ˌsẽtɾoˈɛstʃi du bɾaˈziw]) is composed of the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul; along with Distrito Federal (Federal District), where Brazil's national capital, Brasília, is situated. The region comprises 18.86% of the national territory. With the move of the country's federal capital from Rio de Janeiro to Brasília in the 1960s, the construction of roads and railways to the interior of the country made access to the region easier, speeding up population growth and contributing significantly to the region's development. Mato Grosso do Sul was created in 1979, materializing the decision of the government to divide the then called state of Mato Grosso in two states to facilitate to the administration and the development of the region. Brasília International Airport, Marechal Rondon International Airport, Campo Grande International Airport and Santa Genoveva Airport connects the Center-West region with many Brazilian cities and also operates some international flights. The Center-West is home to the University of Brasília, University Center of Brasília, Federal University of Goiás, Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Federal University of Mato Grosso and Federal University of Rondonópolis. The Center-West region is the least populated in Brazil.

Sudoeste/Octogonal is an administrative region in the Federal District in Brazil. It is largely surrounded by Brasília to the east, and bordered by SIA and Cruzeiro to the west.

The JK Memorial is a mausoleum, presidential memorial and museum dedicated to Juscelino Kubitschek (1902–1976), the 21st President of Brazil and the founder of Brasília, capital city of Brazil since 1960. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the memorial is located in the Monumental Axis in Brasília. It is the final resting place of President Kubitschek.

The Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP) is an agency connected to the Brazilian Ministry of Education in charge of evaluating educational systems and the quality of education in Brazil.

The Military Obelisk of Brasília is a monument in Brazil erected at the Army Headquarters in front of the Concha Acústica in Brasília, the Federal District.

Setor de Indústria e Abastecimento (SIA) is an administrative region in the Federal District in Brazil.

The Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Portuguese: Agência Brasileira de Inteligência, ABIN) is the main intelligence agency in Brazil. ABIN's mission is to ensure that the Federal Executive has access to knowledge related to the security of the State and society, such as those involving foreign defense, foreign relations, internal security, socioeconomic development and scientific-technological development. A successor organization to the Serviço Nacional de Informações (SNI), it formed during the government of Humberto de Alencar Castelo Branco in the mid-1960s. In an attempt to bring military intelligence agencies under the control of the civilian-led government as part of the process of democratization that began in Brazil in 1985, President Fernando Collor de Mello replaced the SNI with the short-lived (1990–94) Secretaria de Assuntos Estratégicos (SAE) or Strategic Affairs Secretariat. However, despite the dismissal of 144 SNI officers, the agency continued to be dominated by the military and effective oversight and control of the country's intelligence activities eluded the civilian government.

The Monumental Axis (Portuguese: Eixo Monumental) is the central and main avenue in Brasília's city design. The avenue begins on the National Congress of Brazil building and is considered part of the DF-002 road. Its first section is known as "Ministries Esplanade" ("Esplanada dos Ministérios"), as it is surrounded by ministries buildings. Many important government buildings, monuments and memorials are located on the Monumental Axis. A common urban legend persists that the Monumental Axis is the widest road in the world, where "[100 to 160] cars can drive side by side". This is untrue, as the road consists of two avenues with six lanes on either side; a total of twelve lanes. However, the street has been featured in the Guinness Book of Records as having the widest median strip of a highway in the world. On April 21, 2008, a year before they formally broke up, the Mexican pop group RBD performed a free concert to a crowd of 500,000 on the Monumental Axis during Empezar Desde Cero Tour 2008. The show was to celebrate the 48th Anniversary of the founding of Brasília. It was recorded and released on DVD with the title Live in Brasilia. The crowd in attendance was the largest for which the group had performed.

The Nilson Nelson Gymnasium (Ginásio Nilson Nelson) is an indoor sporting arena used mostly for volleyball located in Brasília, Brazil, which is near the Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha. Both are part of the Ayrton Senna Sports Complex. The capacity of the arena is 11,105 spectators and it was built in 1973. It is one of the arenas used by the Universo Basketball team. The hall was designed by Cláudio Cianciarullo and opened on April 21, 1973. From 1973 to 2008, the arena had a capacity of 24,286 seats. In 2008, the multi-purpose arena was renovated and reduced the spectator capacity to 11,105 seats. It is used mainly for indoor sports, and was the secondary venue at 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center (Portuguese: Centro de Convenções Ulysses Guimarães, CCUG), formerly the Brasília Convention Center (Portuguese: Centro de Convenções de Brasília) is a convention center located in Brasília. It was designed by Sérgio Bernandes in 1973 and was inaugurated on 12 March 1979, being refurbished in 2005. It was renamed in 1992 to honor Ulysses Guimarães. The convention center is part of Brasílias Cultural Diffusion Sector, in the Monumental Axis, along with the Brasília Planetarium and the Brasília Choro Club.

The Clube de Choro de Brasília is an association dedicated to promoting and disseminating Choro. Located on the Monumental Axis, it is next to the Brasília Planetarium, and the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center, whose cloakroom was transformed into the club's first headquarters. After years of neglect in the 1980s, the headquarters was revitalized and the club regained its relevance, with a new headquarters designed by Oscar Niemeyer completed in 2011. In 2008, the Clube de Choro de Brasília was listed as intangible heritage of Brasília. It has held more than 2,500 shows, and its new headquarters, called Espaço Cultural do Choro, also houses the Raphael Rabello School of Choro, the first of its kind in Brazil.

The Metropolitan Archdiocese of Brasília (Latin: Archidioecesis Metropolitae Brasiliapolitanus) is ecclesiastical territory or archdiocese of the Latin Church of the Catholic Church located in the city of Brasília in Brazil. The archdiocese is a metropolitan see.
