Georgetown, Prince Edward Island

The Battle at Port-la-Joye (also known as the Port-la-Joye Massacre) was a battle in King George's War that took place with British against French troops and Mi'kmaq militia on the banks of present-day Hillsborough River, Prince Edward Island in the summer of 1746. French officer Jean-Baptiste Nicolas Roch de Ramezay sent French and Mi'kmaq forces to Port-la-Joye where they surprised and defeated a force of 200 Massachusetts militia in two British naval vessels that were gathering provisions for recently captured Louisbourg.

Lower Montague was a municipality that held community status in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was located to the east of Montague. The Community of Lower Montague was incorporated in 1974. The first inhabitants of the Island and the area later called Lower Montague were the First Nations Mi’kmag people who came to the Island seasonally and established summer camps. They called the island Abegweit or "resting on the wave". They mostly harvested the richness of forest, field and sea. An Indian burial site reportedly exists along the waters edge and the intersection with the Thornton Road. Lower Montague formed the major part of Lot 59 which has a population of 1285 (2006 Census). On September 28, 2018, it was merged with six other municipalities to create the town of Three Rivers.

Corraville is an unincorporated community in Prince Edward Island, Canada. The community is in Kings County in the eastern part of the Province, SW. of St. Peters.

The Three Rivers are the three tidal estuaries in eastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. The water bodies are the Brudenell, Cardigan and Montague rivers, which in 2004 were included on the list of outstanding Canadian Heritage Rivers. The rivers are navigable by canoe for 52 kilometres (32 mi).There are several communities situated on the river system including Montague, Cardigan and Georgetown. The Brudenell River Provincial Park is situated on the Brudenell.

Brudenell River Provincial Park is a provincial park in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It lies on the north side of the Brudenell River. Brudenell River is the largest provincial park in eastern Prince Edward Island. Some of its land is used by Rodd Brudenell Resort. It has two public 18-hole golf courses, Brudenell River Golf Course and Dundarave Golf Course.

Poole's Corner Provincial Park is a provincial park in eastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located southeast of Cardigan and northeast of Montague.

Panmure Island is a Canadian rural community in Lot 61 township in Kings County, Prince Edward Island.The community is situated upon Panmure Island and derives its name from this island. The community is home to several year-round residents but hosts numerous visitors in the summer months when its many cottages are fully occupied.

Panmure Island is a small 800-acre (324 ha) island of Canadian red sandstone island, with sand beaches, located off the east coast of Prince Edward Island in the Lot 61 township in Kings County.The island is located about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from the nearest point on Prince Edward Island. The first visitors to Panmure Island were the Micmac First Nations Indians. The Micmac came to the island in the summer months to dig clams, mussels and quahaugs. The first full-time inhabitants of the island were settlers from Scotland, the first of which is believed to have been Andrew MacDonald and his family in 1805. The Panmure Island Cemetery was established in 1813. Panmure Island was connected to Prince Edward Island by sand bars at low tide; however, since the 1960s, an artificial causeway has carried a road to the island. The causeway also created an extensive barrier beach and sand dune formation, which is now protected by Panmure Island Provincial Park; this park is not actually located on the island but along the causeway. The causeway has faced increased wave erosion in recent years. The provincial government has spent a significant amount to preserve the connection despite rising sea levels and increased storms. The island contains the oldest wooden lighthouse on Prince Edward Island, near the northern end of the causeway. Built in 1853, the historic 18-metre-high (59 ft) lighthouse structure has gabled windows and four stories with a warning beacon atop. It sits on the northeast shore alerting ships of the dangerous shoals that have been responsible for several shipwrecks in the region. Tours of the lighthouse are available in the summer months. A school was built on the island in 1897 for $150, and had a total of seven pupils the first year. The island is home to the community of Panmure Island, which derives its name from the island.

Montague-Kilmuir is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Kings County (2021 population 18,327) is located in eastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is the province's smallest, most rural and least-populated county. Kings County is also least dependent upon the agriculture industry compared with the other two counties, while being more heavily dependent on the fishery and forest industry. Comparatively large parts of the county are still forested and it hosts the province's largest sawmill. The only heavy industry, aside from forestry and industrial farming, is a small shipyard, although secondary manufacturing has been established in recent years. The county was named by Capt. Samuel Holland in 1765 for King George III (1738–1820). As such, Kings County's shire town is Georgetown. The largest community within the town of Three Rivers.

Panmure Island Provincial Park is a provincial park in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located along a causeway connecting Prince Edward Island with Panmure Island. The Native Council of Prince Edward Island hosts their annual Abegweit Pow Wow in the park.
