Delaware State University

On September 21, 2007, two 17-year-old Delaware State University freshmen were shot on campus. One died 32 days later on October 23, from critical injuries sustained in the attack. A freshman student from East Orange, New Jersey, Loyer D. Braden, was arrested and charged with murder; the charges were dismissed in May 2009 due to lack of evidence, as well as eyewitnesses saying that Braden was not the shooter.

Memorial Hall is a 1,800-seat multi-purpose arena in Dover, Delaware. It is home to the Delaware State University Hornets men's and women's basketball teams and women's volleyball team.

Soldier Field is a college baseball stadium in Dover, Delaware. It is the home of the Delaware State Hornets baseball team. The stadium holds 500 fans and was built in 1958. Since 2009, it has undergone several renovations, including raising the height of the left field fence to 20 feet and adding two rows of chairback seats behind home plate. The stadium field is natural grass. Additionally, the paths from home plate to first and third base are grass rather than part of the dirt infield like at most parks.The outfield fence dimensions are 320 feet down the foul lines and 380 feet to center.

Alumni Stadium is a 7,193-seat multi-purpose stadium in Dover, Delaware. It is home to the Delaware State University Hornets football team and outdoor men's and women's track and field teams. The facility opened in 1957.

Loockerman Hall is an historic home located on the campus of Delaware State University at Dover, Kent County, Delaware. It dates to before 1730, and is a large, two-story, brick plantation home in the Georgian style. It measures 40 feet by 50 feet. It was the first building on the campus of the Delaware State College, originally established as the State College for Colored Students by an act of the Delaware General Assembly on 15 May 1891. Therefore, it is associated with the founding of Delaware's efforts to provide higher education for its African-American students.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Dover Mall is a shopping mall located on U.S. Route 13 in Dover, Delaware. The anchor stores are Boscov's, Old Navy, Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, and AMC Theatres. There are 2 additional anchor spaces, with one serving as a Macy's fulfillment center since the 2020 holiday season and a vacant anchor spot last occupied by Sears. It is a one-level, enclosed regional mall that is managed by Simon Property Group, who owns 68.1% of it. At 927,414 square feet (86,160 m2), it is the third biggest mall in Delaware, boasting 83 shops and a food court.

Dover High School is a high school located in Dover, Delaware. It is a part of the Capital School District. Communities served include the majority of Dover, as well as Cheswold, Hartly, Little Creek, and about half of Leipsic.Dover High School's principal is Shawndell Solomon.

Bally's Dover Casino Resort, formerly Dover Downs, is a hotel, casino, and racetrack complex in Dover, Delaware. It has a .625-mile (1.006 km) harness horse racing track, which is surrounded by Dover Motor Speedway, a 1-mile (1.6 km) concrete track used for NASCAR motor racing events. The complex is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties and operated by Bally's Corporation, excluding the motor racing circuit, which is owned by Speedway Motorsports. Primary features of Bally's Dover include a 500-room hotel, dining options, over 2,700 slot machines, 40 table games, and the Rollins Center, an 18,000-square-foot (1,700 m2) multipurpose ballroom which features entertainment as well as hosting business conferences, conventions and banquets. Steelman Partners were the original architects and interior designers when it was constructed in 1995.

Dover Motor Speedway (formerly Dover Downs International Speedway and later Dover International Speedway) is a race track in Dover, Delaware. The track has hosted at least one NASCAR Cup Series race each year since 1969, including two per year from 1971 to 2020. In addition to NASCAR, the track also hosted USAC and the Indy Racing League. The track features one layout, a 1.000 mi (1.609 km) concrete oval, with 24° banking in the turns and 9° banking on the straights. The speedway is owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports. The track, nicknamed "The Monster Mile", was built in 1969 by Melvin Joseph of Melvin L. Joseph Construction Company, Inc., with an asphalt surface, but was replaced with concrete in 1995. Six years later, in 2001, the track had 135,000 seats, the largest sports venue in the mid-Atlantic region. In 2002, the name changed to Dover International Speedway from Dover Downs International Speedway after Dover Downs Gaming and Entertainment split, making Dover Motorsports. From 2007 to 2009, the speedway worked on an improvement project called "The Monster Makeover," which expanded facilities at the track and beautified the track. On Nov. 8, 2021, it was announced that Dover Motorsports Inc. was purchased by Speedway Motorsports Inc.

Silver Lake is a lake and park located in the city of Dover, Delaware. The lake is the source of the St. Jones River. There are several species of fish in the lake, including largemouth bass, carp, crappie, striped bass, white perch, bluegill, catfish, and others. Silver Lake has a boat ramp. A permit is required by the City of Dover Parks and Recreation Department in order to fish at the lake. Boats also must display a permit regardless of the size of the craft. The public area bordering Silver Lake has covered picnic tables, a walking path, children's play area with equipment, and grills for barbecue. This area is carry in/carry out but there are refuse containers on the property. Portable toilets are also provided. Access to parking is from Washington Street for the beach area and Lewis Mill Drive for boaters. Parking is ample.

Delaware Technical Community College (previously Delaware Technical & Community College, also known as DTCC, Delaware Tech, or Del Tech) is a public community college in the U.S. state of Delaware. Delaware Tech is an open admission institution accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The college offers two Bachelor of Science degrees, more than 100 associate degrees, diplomas, and numerous certificate programs. Of these programs, 48 are accredited degree programs with articulation agreements with 61 other higher learning institutions. It is the only community college in the state. The four-component campuses that make up the college are the Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown, Delaware, the Stanton Campus in Stanton, Delaware, the Charles L. Terry Campus in Dover, and the Orlando J. George, Jr. Campus in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Delaware Technical Community College, Stanton Gymnasium is a 1,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Newark, Delaware on the Stanton campus of Delaware Technical Community College. It was announced as the original home to the Delaware Stars, a basketball team in the USBL, before they moved to Pratt Gymnasium.
