Hackensack Public Schools

Hackensack Gospel Church previously known as the First Baptist Church of Hackensack is a non-denominational church located in Hackensack, New Jersey. It is a campus of the Hawthorne Gospel Church. The campus covers a full city block of land and includes a 500-seat worship auditorium, a school offering pre-kindergarten through grade 12, a day camp, and a library. The church formerly had a bookstore and various other ministry as well. At one point the church had nearly 1,500 members.

The Second Reformed Church of Hackensack is a church in Hackensack, New Jersey, located at the intersections of Anderson, Union and Ward Streets. The church is a member of the Reformed Church in America. Some of Louis Comfort Tiffany's favorite stained glass windows are at the church. Tiffany would bring clients to the church to help them select from the church's broad designs. There are 10 Tiffany windows ranging in design from realistic styles to impressionistic styles.

Bergen County Christian Academy (BCCA) is a private Christian school located in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. Bergen County Christian Academy was founded in 1973 as Hackensack Christian Schools, a ministry of First Baptist Church of Hackensack. Hackensack Christian was reestablished as Bergen County Christian Academy in 2016. The Academy is a member of the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS), Garden State Association of Christian Schools (GSACS) and Metro Christian Athletic Association (MCAA). Bergen County Christian Academy also accepts international students through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP and I-20)As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 101 students (plus 19 in PreK) and 18 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 5.6:1. The school's student body was 37.6% (38) Hispanic, 27.7% (28) White, 13.9% (14) two or more races, 12.9% (13) Asian and 7.9% (8) Black.

The Anderson Outkitchen is located in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The outkitchen was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 8, 1985.

Hackensack is the most populous municipality and the county seat of Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area was officially named New Barbadoes Township until 1921, but has informally been known as Hackensack since at least the 18th century. As of the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 46,030, its highest decennial count ever and an increase of 3,020 (+7.0%) from the 2010 census count of 43,010, which in turn reflected an increase of 333 (+0.8%) from the 42,677 counted in the 2000 census.An inner suburb of New York City, Hackensack is located approximately 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Midtown Manhattan and about 7 miles (11 km) from the George Washington Bridge. From a number of locations, including portions of Prospect Avenue, the New York City skyline can be seen.The Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University straddles the Hackensack River in both Hackensack and Teaneck. Hackensack is also the home of the former New Jersey Naval Museum and the World War II submarine USS Ling. Astronaut Wally Schirra is perhaps Hackensack's most famous native son.The city has diverse neighborhoods and land uses located close to one another. Within its borders are the Hackensack University Medical Center, a residential high-rise district about a mile long (along Prospect Avenue between Beech Street and Passaic Street), suburban neighborhoods of single-family houses, stately older homes on acre-plus lots, older two-family neighborhoods, large garden apartment complexes, industrial areas, the Bergen County Jail, a tidal river, Hackensack River County Park, Borg's Woods Nature Preserve, various city parks, large office buildings, a major college campus, the Bergen County Court House, a vibrant small-city downtown district, and various small neighborhood business districts.

Anderson Street is a New Jersey Transit rail station on the Pascack Valley Line. The station is one of two rail stations in Hackensack (the other being Essex Street) and located at Anderson Street near Linden Street. The station house was built in 1869 (and opened on September 9, 1869) by the Hackensack and New York Railroad on a track extension from Passaic Street in Hackensack. The station was turned over to the Erie Railroad in 1896 and New Jersey Transit in 1983. The next year, the station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The station building, which was 139 years old, was destroyed in a three-alarm fire and explosion at 5:55 a.m. on January 10, 2009. At the time, the station house was the second-oldest (active service) in New Jersey (second to Ramsey's Main Street station). The station building was also the site for the Green Caboose Thrift Shop, a charity gift shop maintained by a branch of the Hackensack University Medical Center from 1962 until the station depot burned in 2009.

Hackensack was a railroad station in Hackensack, New Jersey on the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway Main Line, which provided passenger service between the 1870s and 1960s. The station at Main and Mercer Streets opened in 1872; it was replaced with one at River Street in 1950. Public Service trolley lines served both stations.

The Anderson Street Bridge, also known as the Cedar Lane Bridge, is a fixed-span road bridge over the Hackensack River in Hackensack and Teaneck in Bergen County, New Jersey, U.S. The crossing was built in 1971 to replace an earlier structure. Being structurally deficient, the bridge was given weight restrictions in 2012 and was partially closed in 2016 for interim repairs. It is one of several bridges over the river in Hackensack, including the Court Street Bridge, the Midtown Bridge, and those that carry Interstate 80 and Route 4.

Hackensack Bus Terminal, also called the Hackensack Bus Transfer, is a regional bus station in downtown Hackensack, New Jersey, owned and operated by New Jersey Transit. The bus station was built in the 1970s and was extensively renovated in 2007 while starting in 2006. An outdoor central island boarding–disembarking area surrounds an indoor waiting room and ticketing facilities. Service from nearby bus stops travels to locations in Bergen, Passaic, Essex and Hudson counties as well as the Port Authority Bus Terminal and George Washington Bridge Bus Station in New York City. In October 2018, the Hackensack Transit Connector, servicing the bus terminal, the city's train stations, and the County Courthouse Complex, was initiated.

The Bergen Museum of Art & Science is temporarily located in cyberspace while its extensive art collection valued at over one million dollars is being stored in an art warehouse in Hackensack, New Jersey, United States. The museum relocated from the Bergen Mall in 2010 is currently undergoing re-organization and is looking for a new building to contain its entire art collection, sculptures, fossils, artifacts, drawings and other items and collectibles.

New Barbadoes Township was a township that was formed in 1710 and existed in its largest extent prior to the American Revolutionary War in Bergen County, New Jersey. The Township was created from territories that had been part of Essex County that were transferred by royal decree to Bergen County. After many departures, secessions and deannexations over the centuries, New Barbadoes Township exists presently as Hackensack, which adopted its present name in 1921. The township was named for the English colony of Barbados. Soon after the English annexation of the Dutch province of New Netherland in 1664, Philip Cartaret, governor of what became the proprietary colony of East Jersey, granted land to Captain John Berry in the area known as Achter Kol He soon began residence there and called it "New Barbadoes", having previously resided on the Caribbean island. The original land patent encompassed the area between the Hackensack River and the Saddle River. The early colonial owner is recalled in the name of a stream in the New Jersey Meadowlands, Berrys Creek, and the historic Yereance-Berry House. As constituted originally, the Township included all of present-day Bergen County west of the Hackensack River, including portions beyond the Passaic River, and added the whole territory between the two rivers from Newark Bay once known as New Barbadoes Neck (including the western part of present-day Hudson County), northward to the boundary with New York and west to the boundary line of Sussex County. In 1716, Saddle River Township was created from all portions of New Barbadoes Township west of the Saddle River. New Barbadoes then consisted of all lands west of the Hackensack River and east of the Passaic and Saddle Rivers. In 1775, Harrington Township was formed by royal charter from the northern portions of both New Barbadoes Township and Hackensack Township. Lodi Township was formed in 1821 from the southern portion of New Barbadoes Township. In 1871, Midland Township (now Rochelle Park) was created from the northern portions of New Barbadoes Township. The Hackensack Commission was formed within New Barbadoes Township in 1868. New Barbadoes Township remained in existence until 1921 when it was replaced by the City of Hackensack.

Midtown Bridge, also known as the Salem Street Bridge and William C. Ryan Memorial Bridge, crosses over the Hackensack River between Hackensack and Bogota, in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The through truss bridge was originally a swing bridge built in 1900 for trolleys. It became a road bridge in 1940 and its swing span was fixed in 1984. It was closed in 2017 and slated for replacement; the rebuilt bridge reopened in April 2018.
