Big Graveling Creek

Ballanger Creek is a 4.7-mile-long (7.6 km) tributary of the Mullica River in southern New Jersey in the United States. The name is derived from "Belangee," a family of French Huguenots who were early settlers in the area. It arises in Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, to the west of Tuckerton, and flows south. Crossing under U.S. Route 9, it forms the boundary between Ocean County and Burlington County for the remainder of its course. Passing through abandoned cranberry bogs on the eastern side of a parcel of Bass River State Forest, it enters the tidal marshes of the Mullica, where it is fed by Lower Pasture Creek and World's End Creek. The channel of Mathis Thorofare connects it to Broad Creek to the west. Just below, it meets Fish Creek, and then the larger Winter Creek just before emptying into the Mullica.

The Battle of Chestnut Neck was fought on October 6, 1778 in southern New Jersey during the American Revolutionary War, at Chestnut Neck, a settlement on the Little Egg Harbor River (now known as the Mullica River) near the present-day city of Port Republic, New Jersey, which was used as a base by privateers. The British retrieved some supplies and destroyed others, as well as destroying some residences and other buildings. Learning that Count Casimir Pulaski was on the way, the British quickly left by ship the following day. They had an encounter with Pulaski's forces a week later and caused heavy losses.

The Bass River is a 4.7-mile-long (7.6 km) tributary of the Mullica River in southeastern New Jersey in the United States. The river is located primarily in Bass River, New Jersey, which was named for the river, which was in turn named for Jeremiah Basse, who served as governor of both West Jersey and East Jersey.It rises in the Pinelands of southeastern Burlington County and flows generally south, through Bass River State Forest, and joins the Mullica from the north approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) upstream from its mouth on Great Bay. The lower 2 miles (3.2 km) of the river forms an arm of the estuary of the Mullica. The river is part of the watershed of the Mullica that drains an extensive unspoiled wetlands region of New Jersey. The majority of the land within the drainage basin is forested, and under state protection. Near the mouth and lower parts of the river, there is tidal influence.

Leeds Point (also known as Leeds) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Galloway Township, Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Leeds Point is 5.7 miles (9.2 km) northeast of Absecon. Leeds Point has a post office with ZIP Code 08220, which opened on December 18, 1827. The town is named after the Leeds family, whose first American member, Daniel Leeds, Surveyor General of West Jersey around the beginning of the 18th century, after immigrating to New Jersey from the city of Leeds in England, claimed the land which now makes up Leeds Point; some of his descendants lived in Leeds Point from then on. (His descendants also include his son Daniel Leeds and grandson Titan Leeds, who in Philadelphia published one of America's first almanacs.)The Jersey Devil was born in Leeds Point, according to one legend about the cryptid. The legend claims that in 1735, the thirteenth child of a Mrs. Leeds from the community was transformed into a demon shortly after its birth.

Port Republic is a city on the Mullica River, located in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 1,101, a decrease of 14 (−1.3%) from the 2010 census count of 1,115, which in turn reflected an increase of 78 (+7.5%) from the 1,037 counted in the 2000 census. It is a dry town, where alcohol is not permitted to be sold by law. Geographically, the city, and all of Atlantic County, is part of the South Jersey region of the state and of the Atlantic City-Hammonton metropolitan statistical area, which in turn is included in the Philadelphia-Reading-Camden combined statistical area and the Delaware Valley.

The Smithville Apothecary is a historic Queen Anne-style building located off Moss Mill Road in Smithville, Atlantic County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 9, 1978, for its significance in architecture and commerce.

The Affair at Little Egg Harbor took place on October 15, 1778, in southern New Jersey during the American Revolutionary War. American Loyalists killed 45 Patriot men, bayonetting them as they slept. The massacre took place about one week after the Battle of Chestnut Neck, a British raid aimed at suppressing privateers who used the area as a base to harass and seize British ships and their cargoes.

Mystic Island (also called Mystic Islands or Mystic) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Little Egg Harbor Township, in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 8,493.Mystic Island is a large, mostly waterfront development originally planned as a resort community that started in the early 1960s as a waterfront community with vacation bungalows. In the past few years, however, many of the original bungalows are slowly being replaced with much larger homes on pilings that are popular in nearby beach communities such as Long Beach Island.

Galloway Township is a township in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, and a growing edge city to neighboring Atlantic City. At 114.49 square miles (296.5 km2) of total area of land and water, Galloway Township is the largest municipality in the state. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 37,813, its highest decennial count ever and an increase of 464 (+1.2%) from the 2010 census count of 37,349, which in turn reflected an increase of 6,140 (+19.7%) from the 31,209 counted in the 2000 census.Galloway Township was incorporated by Royal charter on April 4, 1774, from portions of Egg Harbor Township, when it was still part of Gloucester County. Galloway was incorporated as one of the initial group of 104 townships by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798. After becoming part of the newly formed Atlantic County in 1837, portions of the township were taken to create Mullica Township (March 13, 1838), Egg Harbor City (June 14, 1858), Absecon (February 29, 1872), Brigantine Beach borough (now Brigantine; June 14, 1890) and Port Republic (March 1, 1905).Geographically, the township, and all of Atlantic County, is part of the South Jersey region of the state and of the Atlantic City-Hammonton metropolitan statistical area, which in turn is included in the Philadelphia-Reading-Camden combined statistical area and the Delaware Valley.

Smithville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Galloway Township, in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, that was established as part of the 2010 United States Census. Smithville is located 15 miles (24 km) north of and inland from Atlantic City. As of the 2010 Census, the CDP's population was 7,242.Although Smithville has existed as a community since the American Revolutionary War, most of the community remained very rural until the 1960s when the Smithville Towne Center, a tourist attraction containing over 80 shops, opened. The Towne Center was expanded to include numerous rides and other shops named "The Village Greene", which was the centerpiece of a large planned community developed since the 1980s.

New Gretna (pronounced /gɹ'εtnʌ/) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Bass River Township in Burlington County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 08224.As of the 2010 United States Census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area 08224 was 573. The population for the ZCTA as of the 2000 United States Census was 543.The Bead Wreck Site at New Gretna is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as site #88001899. New Gretna was named after Gretna Green in Scotland.

The Amanda Blake Store is a historic building located at 104 Main Street in the city of Port Republic in Atlantic County, New Jersey. Built in 1884 as a general store, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 25, 1979, for its significance in commerce and social history. It is now a privately-owned house. The building was listed as a contributing property of the Port Republic Historic District in 1991.
