North Branch Historic District (New Jersey)

North Branch is an unincorporated community and hamlet located mostly within Branchburg Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. A portion of North Branch is located in Bridgewater Township. The hamlet of North Branch, located on both sides of the North Branch of the Raritan River, brings the ambiance of a small village and charm to the area. The North Branch Volunteer Fire Company provides fire protection to western Bridgewater Township and northern Branchburg Township. The company's 30 volunteers cover almost 12 square miles (31 km2) and 15,000 residents.

The North Branch Reformed Church is a historic church located on the eastern side of the North Branch of the Raritan River in North Branch, New Jersey at 203 New Jersey Route 28. It was formed by expansion from the Readington Reformed Church. The church was organized on September 10, 1825. The first church was built in 1826 and later rebuilt in 1874. The North Branch Reformed Church Cemetery is located nearby on the western side of the North Branch along Vanderveer Avenue. It is on the old farm of the Ten Eyck family, where about one acre was sold to the church c. 1830.

North Branch is a NJ Transit railroad station on the Raritan Valley Line, in the hamlet of North Branch in Branchburg, New Jersey. The station is in a residential area, a mile to the south of North Branch center. The station has a small shelter with no facilities and is across the street from the Printmaking Council of New Jersey. North Branch station and the stations west of it have no weekend service. The former Jersey Central Railroad station depot burned to the ground on January 8, 1970.

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) is a public community college in North Branch, New Jersey. RVCC offers Associate degree programs leading to an Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), Associate of Fine Art (A.F.A), or an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), as well as certificate programs and continuing education courses. The college was founded in late 1965 as Somerset County College and opened to its first class of students in the fall of 1968. It was given its present name in 1987, when it became the county college for Hunterdon County as well as its home of Somerset County. It was the first community college in New Jersey to be sponsored by two different counties. Raritan Valley's University Center offers degree completion programs from a number of schools and university partners including Rutgers University.

Midland School, located in North Branch (in Branchburg Township, New Jersey), in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States, is a non-profit special education school serving the individual social, emotional, academic and career needs of children with developmental disabilities. The school serves 245 students, ranging in age from 5 to 21 years old, from central and northern New Jersey. With 245 students and 36.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), the school has a student–teacher ratio of 6.6.The school was founded in 1960 to meet the educational needs of two “brain injured” children for whom no educational program could be found.Students are placed in Midland School by their home school districts, which pay tuition for their students to attend. Additional operating funds are provided through the fund-raising programs of the Midland Foundation.

Bradley Gardens is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Bridgewater Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 14,206.

Bridgewater Center is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the west-central part of Bridgewater Township, Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census with a population of 4,616.Within Bridgewater Township, the community is bordered to the northeast by Green Knoll and to the southwest by Bradley Gardens. To the south it is bordered by the boroughs of Raritan and Somerville. It is bordered to the northwest by Bedminster Township and to the west by Branchburg Township. Interstate 287 forms the northeast border of the CDP, separating it from Green Knoll, while U.S. Route 22 forms the southern border with Somerville. Farther to the west, Route 28 (Easton Turnpike) forms the CDP's border with Raritan and Bradley Gardens.

Bridgewater-Raritan High School (commonly abbreviated as BRHS) is a four-year comprehensive public high school. It is the lone secondary school of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District serving students in ninth through twelfth grades from Bridgewater Township and Raritan in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The school has been recognized by the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, the highest award an American school can receive.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,749 students and 222.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.3:1. There were 212 students (7.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 50 (1.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch. Based on 2021-22 data from the New Jersey Department of Education, it was the sixth-largest high school in the state and one of 29 schools with more than 2,000 students.

Raritan is a borough in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 7,835, an increase of 954 (+13.9%) from the 2010 census count of 6,881, which in turn reflected an increase of 543 (+8.6%) from the 6,338 counted in the 2000 census.The borough's name is derived from the Raritans, a Native American group of Lenape. The name of the tribe is said to mean "forked river", "stream overflows" or "point on a tidal river".

The Branchburg Township School District is a community public school district serving students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Branchburg, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2020–21 school year, the district, comprised of three schools, had an enrollment of 1,325 students and 152.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.7:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "I", the second-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.The public secondary school serving Branchburg for ninth through twelfth grades is Somerville High School, which students attend as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Somerville Public Schools. As of the 2020–21 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 1,155 students and 92.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.6:1.

The Andrew Ten Eyck House is a historic farm house located at 671 Old York Road in the township of Branchburg in Somerset County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 6, 2004, for its significance in architecture.

Peters Brook is a tributary of the Raritan River that flows south through Bridgewater Township and Somerville, New Jersey, in the United States. Some of its tributaries include Ross Brook and Mac's Brook. Peters Brook is approximately six miles long, beginning near the west side of I-287 and emptying into the Raritan River south of Somerville. The Brook is named for Peter Van Nest, son of Dutch immigrant Pieter Van Nest. The homestead of the Van Nest family was in nearby Raritan near Glaser Avenue.Peters Brook is notable for having high phosphate levels and flooding, receiving large amounts of stormwater.
