Island Trees High School

Plainedge is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 8,817 at the 2010 census. The area was once known as Turkeyville.

Island Trees Union Free School District is a school district in central Nassau County on Long Island, approximately 31 miles east of New York City. The district includes parts of the following hamlets; Levittown, Bethpage, Plainedge, and Seaford. The Island Trees School District gained notoriety in the United States Supreme Court case Island Trees School District v. Pico regarding censorship of books in school libraries.

Levittown is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York. It is located halfway between the villages of Hempstead and Farmingdale. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a total population of 51,881, making it the most populous CDP in Nassau County and the second most populous CDP on Long Island, behind only Brentwood. Levittown gets its name from its builder, the firm of Levitt & Sons, Inc. founded by Abraham Levitt on August 2, 1929, which built the district as a planned community for returning World War II veterans between 1947 and 1951. Sons William and Alfred served as the company's president and chief architect and planner, respectively. Levittown was the first truly mass-produced suburb and is widely regarded as the archetype for postwar suburbs throughout the country. William Levitt, who assumed control of Levitt & Sons in 1954, is considered the father of modern suburbia in the United States.There have been multiple proposals in the past to incorporate Levittown either as a village or as the third city in Nassau County.

Levittown Union Free School District (LUFSD) is a school district in central Nassau County on Long Island, approximately ten miles east of New York City. The district approximately 5.5 square miles (14 km2) includes parts of the following hamlets; Levittown, North Wantagh, and Seaford. Currently, there are six elementary schools (K-5), two middle schools (6-8), two high schools (9-12) and one career & technical center. The school district sits on over 200 acres (0.81 km2) of property, and its facilities occupy over 1,500,000 square feet (140,000 m2). The district has a transportation complex of 5 buildings, a buildings and grounds complex of 4 buildings, a middle school leased to BOCES, 22 pump houses and storage sheds as well as vacant property on which once sat an elementary school. The district operates its own Transportation System, transporting over 4,000 students per day. Transportation is available for those students in Grades K-8 who live beyond 3/4 of a mile and 9-12 who live beyond 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from their respective school. The district implemented an all day Kindergarten program in 2011/12. The school district administration is headed by Dr. Tonie McDonald, the current Superintendent of Schools, appointed July 1, 2014. Her contract has been expanded expires on June 30, 2021. Dr. Tonie McDonald is a life long Levittown resident who taught and rose through the ranks of the district she now leads. The Board of Education President is Peggy Marenghi. She was elected to the Board of Education until June 30, 2019.

Levittown Memorial High School was a public high school for grades 9-12 that was operated by the Levittown Union Free School District. Opened in 1953, the school closed in 1983 and has been used by the district for its offices and as the site of the Gerald R. Claps Career and Technical Center. The school was the district's first high school, constructed to serve the influx of new residents who had moved in to the suburban development in Levittown, New York. In the face of declining enrollment, the school was closed in 1983 and repurposed for district offices and as a career center.

Bethpage is a station along the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located at Stewart Avenue and Jackson Avenue, in Bethpage, New York, and serves Ronkonkoma Branch trains. Trains that travel along the Central Branch also use these tracks, but none stop here.

MacArthur High School is a public high school located in Levittown, New York. One of two high schools in the Levittown Union Free School District, the school is named after United States General Douglas MacArthur. As of the 2018–19 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,234 students and 95.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.9:1. There were 67 students (5.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 42 (3.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.According to the 2007 Newsweek Magazine issue of Top 1,200 U.S. schools, MacArthur High School was ranked as #518.

Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant, Bethpage (NWIRP) -- also known as 'Northrop Grumman Site Facility' -- was a United States government-owned, contractor-operated (GOCO) facility established in 1941, with the mission to design, fabricate, and test prototype aircraft for the US Navy and the NASA in the town of Oyster Bay in Bethpage, New York. Two groundwater plumes of toxic chemicals, mostly volatile organic compounds migrating from the property were discovered in 1986 and in 2009, affecting the water district well fields. The site is subject to state Superfund cleanup plans. Special water treatment plants were established in the early 2000s.

Jerusalem District No. 5 Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building located at 3510 Old Jerusalem Rd, Wantagh, New York in Nassau County, New York. It is owned by Levittown Union Free School District #5. It was built in 1876 and enlarged to three rooms about 1920. It is a T-shaped building with the original section located at the rear. It is a long frame building on a poured concrete foundation and hipped roof with shallow overhanging eaves. The main entrance features a portico. It is now leased out to a private day care facility. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, and was also listed as a Town of Hempstead Historic Site.

Bethpage Energy Center is a power station in Bethpage, New York, United States, consisting of two combined cycle plants opened in 1989 and 2005, and one gas turbine peaking plant opened in 2002. The original plant was commissioned by Grumman Aerospace for its Bethpage complex because it was deemed more cost-effective than purchasing power from electric utilities. It was acquired by Calpine in 1998, which expanded the facility with two more plants.

Bethpage (formerly known as Central Park) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 16,658 at the 2020 United States Census.

North Wantagh is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 11,960 at the 2010 census.
