Muncie ( MUN-see) is an incorporated city and the seat of Delaware County, Indiana, United States. Previously known as Buckongahelas Town, named after the legendary Delaware Chief, it is located in East Central Indiana, about 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Indianapolis. At the 2020 United States Census, the city's population was 65,195, down from 70,085 in the 2010 Census. It is the principal city of the Muncie Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Delaware County. The city is also included in the Indianapolis–Carmel–Muncie, IN Combined Statistical Area.The Lenape (Delaware) people, led by Buckongahelas arrived in the area in the 1790s, founding several villages, including one known as Munsee Town, along the White River. The trading post, renamed Muncietown, was selected as the Delaware County seat and platted in 1827. Its name was officially shortened to Muncie in 1845 and incorporated as a city in 1865. Muncie developed as a manufacturing and industrial center, especially after the Indiana gas boom of the 1880s. It is home to Ball State University. As a result of the Middletown studies, sociological research that was first conducted in the 1920s, Muncie is said to be one of the most studied United States cities of its size.

The Emily Kimbrough Historic District is a historical neighborhood in downtown Muncie, Indiana, USA. Established as a Muncie local historical district in 1976, it was eventually added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1980. The district is bounded by Monroe, East Washington, Hackley and East Charles Streets. The boundaries were later increased to roughly East Gilbert, Beacon Street, East Charles Street and Madison Street on June 29, 1989.

The Cincinnati, Richmond & Muncie Depot (also known as the Wysor Street Depot) is a restored train station in Muncie, Indiana, United States. Built in 1901, it was acquired by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in 1910. The station was used for passenger train service throughout the 20th century and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. It is currently used as a visitor center and office for the adjacent Cardinal Greenway.

Muncie's Masonic Temple is a historic fraternal lodge building located in Muncie, Indiana. The building is now only used by the Cornerstone Center for the Arts. The Muncie Masonic Temple is in the Gothic Revival style, and was designed and built during the height of the City Beautiful Movement.

Fire Station No. 1 is a historic fire station located at Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana. It was built in 1913, and is a two-story, flat roofed building with restrained Classical Revival style detailing. It is faced with buff brick, has alternating rusticated and dressed limestone banding, and a brick parapet. The first floor has three garage bays.: 77–78 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.On 1 October 2017, it was announced that approximately $100,000 would be invested in floor repairs to enable a firetruck to return to service from the location.

Goldsmith C. Gilbert Historic District is a national historic district located at Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana. It encompasses 75 contributing buildings and is located in the oldest residential section of Muncie. The district includes notable examples of Late Victorian, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed J.C. Johnson House. Other notable buildings include the A.L. Johnson House, Meeks Mortuary Building, Joseph Hummel House, and Miller Livery (1916).: 54–57 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

J. C. Johnson House was a historic home located at Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana. It was designed by the noted Fort Wayne architectural firm Grindle & Weatherhogg and built in 1897. It is a large 2+1⁄2-story brick dwelling with Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival style design elements. It features a projecting tower, two-story bay constructed of limestone, four slender chimneys, and a slate roof with decorative ridge trim.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and was delisted in 2018. It is located in the Goldsmith C. Gilbert Historic District.

Margaret and George Riley Jones House, also known as the Riley-Jones Club, Inc., is a historic home located at Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana. It was built in 1901, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, "L"-plan, Colonial Revival style frame dwelling sheathed in brick. It features a gable roof with dormers, arched windows, and full-width front porch with mosaic tile floor. It housed a private women's club.: 2  The club closed in 2003 and the building now houses law offices.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Carnegie Library is a historic Carnegie library located at Muncie, Indiana, United States. The building houses the Local History & Genealogy collection and an open computer lab. The facility also provides wireless access and a meeting room for local groups to reserve. It is one of four branches that make up the Muncie Public Library System. The building was made possible through a financial donation to the City of Muncie by Andrew Carnegie to expand their library system throughout the community. The foundation for Carnegie Library was built in 1902 and the building opened to the public in 1904. It has been in continuous use as a library since its opening. The building is located in downtown Muncie at the intersection of Jackson and Jefferson.

First Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church located at 309 E. Adams Street in Muncie, Indiana. The Late Gothic Revival building was designed by Samuel Hannaford & Sons and constructed in 1928-1929 by Morrow & Morrow. It is constructed of Indiana limestone and has a cruciform plan. It features and engaged five-story tower.: 75 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

YWCA is a historic YWCA building located at Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana. It was built in 1925, and is a three-story, five bay by three bay, restrained Colonial Revival style brick building with limestone detailing. It has swimming pool in the basement, meeting and recreation rooms on the first floor, and sleeping rooms on the second and third floors.: 62–64 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Boyce Block is a historic commercial building located at Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana. It was built in 1880, and is a two-story, brick building. The building features an elaborate parapet. Since 1904, the building has housed a theater.: 2–3 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
