The Capital Region of Denmark (Danish: Region Hovedstaden, pronounced [ʁekiˈoˀn ˈhoːð̩ˌstæðˀn̩]) is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities and a regional council consisting of 41 elected members. As of 1 August 2021 the chairperson is Lars Gaardhøj, who is a member of the Social Democrats party of Denmark. The Capital Region was established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. This reform abolished the traditional counties (Danish plural: amter, singular: amt) and created five regions. As part of this reform 271 smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, reducing the number of municipalities to 98. The reform dramatically diminished the power of regional governments while enhancing that of local governments and of the central government in Copenhagen. It was implemented on 1 January 2007. Unlike the former counties (1970–2006) (Danish Amtskommune, literally 'county municipality') the regions are not municipalities and are thus not allowed to have a coat of arms, only logotypes. The regions do not collect taxes and are financed primarily through block grants, they are unable to transfer money from one area of expenditure to another, and they must return any unused money to the central government. This makes the regions more like departments or agencies of the central government. The main industry in the Capital region is healthcare, including hospitals.

Frederiksborg Castle (Danish: Frederiksborg Slot) is a palatial complex in Hillerød, Denmark. It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway in the early 17th century, replacing an older castle acquired by Frederick II and becoming the largest Renaissance residence in Scandinavia. On three islets in the Slotssøen (castle lake), it is adjoined by a large formal garden in the Baroque style. After a serious fire in 1859, the castle was rebuilt on the basis of old plans and paintings. Thanks to public support and the brewer J. C. Jacobsen, its apartments were fully restored and reopened to the public as the Danish Museum of National History in 1882. Open throughout the year, the museum contains the largest collection of portrait paintings in Denmark. It also provides visitors with an opportunity to visit several of the castle's state rooms including the restored Valdemar Room and Great Hall as well as the Chapel and the Audience Chamber which were both largely spared by the fire and contain sumptuous decorations. While there was renovation, a fire truck was permanently parked in the castle.

Batzke's House (Danish: Batzkes Hus) is the former gardener's house at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, Denmark. It was built on a hilltop near the castle in 1720 to a design by Johan Cornelius Krieger. It was listed in 1924.

Annaborg, formerly also known as Amtsstuegården, is a Neoclassical building from 1783 now operated as a venue for temporary art exhibitions in Hillerød, Denmark. It is located adjacent to Frederiksborg Castle and was until 1939 home to the headquarters of Frederiksborg County. It was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1945.

Hillerød Stadium (Danish: Hillerød Stadion) is a multi-use sports complex in Hillerød, Denmark. It is currently used for football matches and is the home stadium of Hillerød Fodbold. The complex was earlier the site of the Selskov Stadium and was used for motorcycle speedway events, often with crowds in excess of 10,000.

Hillerød Rectory (Danish: Hillerød Præstegård) is located close to the central market square in Hillerød, Denmark. The building owes its current appearance to a comprehensive renovation from the 1860s but it stands on a vaulted cellar from the 17th century. A plaque above the main entrance commemorates that Peder Hersleb lived in the building from 1718 to 1724. The building was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1979.

Frederiksborg Latin School (Danish: Frederiksborg Latinskole) is a former latin school in Hillerød, Denmark. The school changed its name to Frederiksborg State School (Danish: Frederiksborg Statsskole) in 1903. The school moved to new premises in 1958 and is now called Frederiksborg Gymnasium. Its old building at Søndre Jernbanevej 4A was built to a Neoclassical design by Jørgen Hansen Koch in 1836. It was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1945.

Slotsarkaderne (usually styled SlotsArkaderne) is a shopping centre located in Hillerød, Denmark. It has an area of 24,000 m2 (260,000 sq ft) and contains 60 stores.

The Stud Master's House (Danish: Stutmesterens Hus), situated on Frederiksværksgade, west of Frederiksborg Castle, was built for the stable master at the Royal Frederiksborg Stud in Hillerød, Denmark. It was built in 1723 to a design by Royal Building Inspector Johan Cornelius Krieger and is fairly similar to nearby Batzke's House which was also designed by Krieger. The house was in the first half of the 19th century for a while used as a school under the name Nyhuse Skole. It was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1919.

Hillerød station (Danish pronunciation: [ˈhiləˌʁœðˀ stæˈɕoˀn]) is a railway station serving the city of Hillerød north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the terminus of four railways lines: An S-train line (Nordbanen) from Copenhagen, operated by DSB Frederiksværkbanen, operated by Lokaltog Gribskovbanen, operated by Lokaltog Lille Nord towards Helsingør, operated by LokaltogThough there are track connections between the four railways, they are seldom used; each has its own dedicated dead-end platform tracks. The bus terminal in front of the station is a major hub for transportation throughout northeastern Zealand.

Frederiksborg Amt (English: Frederiksborg County) is a former county (Danish: amt) in the north of the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. Effective January 1, 2007, the county was abolished and merged into Region Hovedstaden (i.e. Copenhagen Capital Region).

Hillerød (Danish pronunciation: [ˈhiləˌʁœðˀ]) is a Danish town with a population of 36,043 (1 January 2023) located in the centre of North Zealand approximately 30 km to the north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Hillerød is the administrative centre of Hillerød Municipality and also the administrative seat of Region Hovedstaden (Capital Region of Denmark), one of the five regions in Denmark. It is most known for its large Renaissance castle, Frederiksborg Castle, now home to the Museum of National History. Hillerød station is the terminus of one of the radials of the S-train network as well as several local railway lines. The town is surrounded by the former royal forests of Gribskov to the north and Store Dyrehave to the south.
