It had a population of 1,364 people in the 2021 Census. It lies to the north of Enniskillen and is within Fermanagh and Omagh district. The village has won several "best kept village" titles, and has a fountain to mark the honour. There has been only one local primary school: Ballinamallard Controlled Primary School, since the other, Shanmullagh Primary School, closed in August 2008. As of 2016 NISRA estimate that 2,754 people live in the Ballinamallard Electoral Ward, which encompasses a larger area than the settlement.

In the 2001 Census it had (with Ballycassidy and Laragh) a population of 315 people. It lies within the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area. St Michael's Church of Ireland Parish Church in Trory is a listed building.

Laragh (from Irish Lathrach, meaning 'the site of some sort of building') is a small townland of 132 acres (0.2 sq mi) in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the civil parish of Trory and the historic barony of Tirkennedy. It is near Enniskillen Airport. Laragh is the base for Balcas Timber Ltd, a producer of timber products and wood pellets as a renewable energy fuel and for export.There are two other townlands in County Fermanagh with the same name: Laragh (Rossory) and Laragh (Kinawley).

St Michael's College (Irish: Coláiste Mhíchíl) is a Roman Catholic boys' grammar school located in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. Named for St Michael the Archangel, the school educates boys in County Fermanagh and the surrounding areas. The school is located within the parish of Enniskillen, one of the largest parishes in the Diocese of Clogher. The school's feast day is 29 September. The current principal is Mark Henry (2016–present).
