Albertus Magnus High School, also known as AMHS, Albertus, and Magnus, is a Catholic, co-educational high school located in Bardonia, New York, named after the German philosopher and theologian of the same name. It is the only Catholic high school in Rockland County, New York. Albertus Magnus High School is administered by the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, which was founded on May 6, 1876, in New York City by Mother Catherine Mary Antoninus Thorpe. Albertus Magnus High School is one of the many schools and missions in New York State, Missouri, Maryland, Montana, Pakistan, and Peru staffed by the Sparkill Dominicans in their 130-year history. More than 80% of the student body participates in the many Extracurricular activities available at the school.

Bardonia is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located northeast of Nanuet, northwest of West Nyack, south of New City, and west of Valley Cottage. The population was 4,108 at the 2010 census.Bardonia is north of the New York State Thruway. Bardonia is named for the Bardon brothers - John and the twins Phillip and Conrad - who came from Bavaria in 1849 and opened several businesses. The Bardonia railroad station, which no longer exists, was opened there in 1875.

Clarkstown is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The town is on the eastern border of the county, located north of the town of Orangetown, east of the town of Ramapo, south of the town of Haverstraw, and west of the Hudson River. As of the 2010 census, the town had a total population of 84,187. The community of New City, the county seat of Rockland County, is also the seat of town government and of the Clarkstown Police Department, the county sheriff's police office, and the county correctional facility. New City makes up about 41.47% of the town's population. In 2008, Clarkstown became one of 600 municipalities nationwide to sign the United States Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to 7 percent below the 1990 levels by 2012.

Nanuet Senior High School is a public high school located in Nanuet, New York. It is formally known as "Nanuet Senior High School: The John P. Burke Building," named after the school's long-time principal. The Nanuet Senior High School houses grades 9 - 12. Its leadership team consists of a Principal and an Assistant Principal. In addition there are four guidance counselors, a Dean, a nurse, a student assistance counselor, a psychologist, a School Resource Officer, and department chairpersons. It is also a National Blue Ribbon School. Nanuet's program offers courses in Art, English, French, Health, Math, Music, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, Spanish and Technology.

The 1981 Brink's robbery was an armed robbery and three related murders committed on October 20, 1981, by several Black Liberation Army members and four former members of the Weather Underground, now associated with the May 19th Communist Organization. The plan called for the BLA members — including Kuwasi Balagoon, Mtayari Sundiata, Samuel Brown and Mutulu Shakur — to carry out the robbery, with the M19CO members — David Gilbert, Judith Alice Clark, Kathy Boudin, and Marilyn Buck — to serve as getaway drivers in switchcars. The conspirators stole $1.6 million in cash from a Brink's armored car at the Nanuet Mall, in Nanuet, New York, killing a Brink's guard, Peter Paige, seriously wounding Brink's guard Joseph Trombino, slightly wounding Brink's truck driver guard, James Kelly, subsequently killing two Nyack police officers, Edward O'Grady and Waverly Brown, and seriously wounding Police Detective Artie Keenan.

Nanuet is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York, United States. The third largest hamlet in Clarkstown, it is located north of Pearl River, south of New City, east of Spring Valley, and west of West Nyack. It is located midway between Manhattan and Bear Mountain, 19 miles (31 km) north and south of each respectively; and 2 miles (3 km) north of the New Jersey border. It has one of three Rockland County stations on New Jersey Transit's Pascack Valley Line. The population of Nanuet was 17,882 at the 2010 census.The opening of the New York State Thruway (Interstate 87/287), the Tappan Zee Bridge, and the Palisades Interstate Parkway in the mid-1950s helped usher in decades of population growth and real estate development, including the construction of the Nanuet Mall and local shopping centers.In 2011, CNN Money ranked Nanuet 76 on its annual 100 Best Places to Live list, citing its relatively inexpensive housing and the recreation and shopping opportunities in the area. Nanuet was also ranked 24th on CNN Money's annual 100 Best Places to Live list in 2007.

The Shops at Nanuet is a lifestyle center located in Nanuet, New York. It is located at the intersection of New York State Route 59 and Middletown Road and is also accessible via exit 14 of the New York State Thruway. Built on the site of the former Nanuet Mall, the Shops at Nanuet debuted in 2013. As of 2022, The mall currently maintains traditional tenants At Home, Stop & Shop, as well as a Regal Cinemas. The mall currently features a handful of classic brands such as White House/Black Market, Coach New York, LOFT, and Drybar.

Nanuet is a train station in Nanuet, New York, serving Metro-North Railroad and NJ Transit trains on the Pascack Valley Line. Its official address is 1 Prospect Street, but in reality, it is located on Orchard Street West, diagonally off the southwest corner of Prospect Street and Middletown Road. The station originated as a lumberyard known as Red Tavern and operated by David Demarest. In 1846, the station was upgraded and renamed Clarkstown. The station was renamed in 1856 to Nanuet, four years after ticketed service began. The station depot built by the Erie Railroad for its New Jersey and New York Railroad and its main line (later Piermont Branch), burned on March 14, 1991.

Novo-Diveevo Convent (often spelled Novo-Diveyevo, Novo-Diveievo or Novodiveevo, Russian: Ново-Дивеево - "New Diveyevo") is a female monastic community in Nanuet, Rockland County, New York in the United States, that was founded in 1949. It is under the auspices of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia. It is also called the Stavropighial Convent of the Holy Dormition. Locally and officially it is simply called The Russian Orthodox Convent.

New Square (Yiddish: שיכון סקווירא, romanized: Shikun Skvir) is an all-Hasidic village in the town of Ramapo, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Hillcrest, east of Viola, south of New Hempstead, and west of New City. As of the 2020 United States census, it had a population of 9,679. Its inhabitants are predominantly members of the Skverer Hasidic movement who seek to maintain a Hasidic lifestyle disconnected from the secular world. It is the poorest town (measured by median income) in New York, and the eighth poorest in the United States. It also has the highest poverty rate, at 64.4%.

West Nyack is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Blauvelt, east of Nanuet, southwest of Valley Cottage, southeast of Bardonia, and west of Central Nyack. It is approximately 18 miles (29 km) north of New York City. The population was 3,439 at the 2010 census.
