Morgan Draw

The Raritan Bay Slag Superfund Site consists of a seawall along the coast of the Raritan Bay in the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge Township, New Jersey, United States. The seawall itself is made of slag. In this seawall, are large concentrations of lead, antimony, arsenic, and copper. The lead in particular has contaminated the nearby soil and surface water. The slag deposits are a by-product from NL Industries (formerly known as National Lead Company), a lead smelting company, dumping its wastes in the Raritan River. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) investigated the area and found large concentrations of metals to be dangerous to human health. The NJDEP called the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate the area further, which resulted in some of the slag being physically removed and the toxic areas being fenced off.

Morgan is a neighborhood in Sayreville in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, named for Charles Morgan III who purchased the land on May 7, 1710.The Morgan Draw, constructed over the Cheesequake Creek in 1912, serves the North Jersey Coast Line.A month before the end of World War I in 1918, the neighborhood was heavily damaged by the T. A. Gillespie Company Shell Loading Plant explosion.Morgan Heights is a neighborhood on the bluff in the district.

Laurence Harbor is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located on the Raritan Bay within Old Bridge Township, in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the CDP's population was 6,635, an increase of 99 (+1.5%) from the 6,536 recorded at the 2010 census, which in turn reflected an increase of 309 (+5.0%) from the 6,227 counted in the 2000 census.

New Jersey's 6th congressional district is represented by Democrat Frank Pallone, who has served the district in Congress since 1993. The district includes the northern and eastern portions of Middlesex County and the coastal areas of Monmouth County, including towns along the Raritan Bay. Following the redistricting process in 2021, the 6th district remained similar to its prior configuration, though it gained the liberal towns of Neptune Township and Red Bank, while losing the more conservative Marlboro Township, among other minor changes. According to estimates from The Cook Political Report, the district became slightly more Democratic after redistricting.

Laurence Harbor was a proposed station that was to be located along New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line between the South Amboy and Aberdeen-Matawan stations. The station was to be in the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge, New Jersey. The station was first proposed in the 1980s, although no progress was made until August 2001, when the transportation officials said the official station could be constructed within several years. After several years of proposals, along with the passing of a high opposer in 2003, the station came up once again in 2008. That year, the proposed Metropark South was brought back to the Old Bridge council by developer Michael Alfieri. His proposal also brought up the plans for new residential homes, commercial businesses along with the new station. The proposal was conditionally accepted in November of that year. As of 2009, there is no forward on the actual station being constructed.

Christ Church Cemetery is located in South Amboy, New Jersey. The cemetery is owned and operated by the Christ Episcopal Church in South Amboy. The cemetery opened in 1856 and is still accepting new burials.

South Amboy Middle / High School (also known as H. G. Hoffman High School) is a seven-year comprehensive community public high school that serves students in sixth through twelfth grades from South Amboy in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the South Amboy Public Schools.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 584 students and 40.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.5:1. There were 128 students (21.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 24 (4.1% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Great Beds Light is a sparkplug lighthouse in Raritan Bay, about 1 mile (1.6 km) from South Amboy of Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. Over the years the lighthouse has become the symbol for the city of South Amboy. Named as Great Beds Light Station, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 29, 2008, for its significance in architecture, engineering, transportation, and maritime history.

Cheesequake State Park is a 1,610-acre (2.52 sq mi) state park located in Old Bridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey, in the United States. The New Jersey Legislature allocated $100,000 in 1937 to purchase property for the park. The state first acquired a 250-acre (100 ha) tract of farmland and a Civil War-era mansion from the Favier brothers in January 1938. Additional lands were acquired over the next two years, and the Civil Conservation Corps, part of the Works Progress Administration, helped develop the property. The park was opened in June 1940. It is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry and is part of the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route. The name Cheesequake has been variously described as deriving from the Lenape words Cheseh-oh-ke ("upland"), Chichequaas ("upland village"), or Chiskhakink ("at the land that has been cleared").

South Amboy is a commuter railroad train station in the city of South Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey. Servicing trains of New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line, electric trains go between New York Penn Station and Long Branch. There are also diesel trains that go through to Bay Head. The next station to the north, across the Raritan River, is Perth Amboy and the next station to the southeast is Aberdeen–Matawan. The station consists of two tracks and a single high-level island platform that is handicap accessible.

The South Amboy Public Schools are a comprehensive community public school district that serve students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from South Amboy, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2020–21 school year, the district, comprised of two schools, had an enrollment of 1,100 students and 81.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.6:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "CD", the sixth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.

The South Amboy powder pier explosion was an incident that took place on Friday, May 19, 1950. Over 420 tons of explosives in transit at the Raritan River Port in South Amboy, New Jersey detonated due to unknown causes, killing 31 and injuring over 350.
