Cape Henlopen State Park is a Delaware state park on 5,193 acres (2,102 ha) on Cape Henlopen in Sussex County, Delaware, in the United States. William Penn made the beaches of Cape Henlopen one of the first public lands established in what has become the United States in 1682 with the declaration that Cape Henlopen would be for "the usage of the citizens of Lewes and Sussex County." Cape Henlopen State Park has a 24-hour and year-round fishing pier as well as campgrounds. The remainder of the park is only open from sunrise to sunset, and includes a bathhouse on the Atlantic Ocean, an area for surf-fishing, a disc golf course, and bicycle and walking paths. The beach at Herring Point is a popular surfing spot. The park is a stop on Delaware's Coastal Heritage Greenway.

Cape Henlopen is the southern cape of the Delaware Bay along the Atlantic coast of the United States. It lies in the state of Delaware, near the town of Lewes, where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Off the coast on the bay side are two lighthouses, called the Harbor of Refuge Light and the Delaware Breakwater East End Light.

The Junction and Breakwater Trail is a 6-mile (9.7 km) long rail trail located on the southwestern side of Cape Henlopen State Park connecting Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, United States. It is the third rail trail built in Delaware and it is the longest in the state. It partially follows the former Pennsylvania Railroad Rehoboth Beach branch that once transported passengers to several Methodist resort camps along the Atlantic coast. The line was abandoned by the Penn Central in the early 1970s. The Junction and Breakwater Trail is named after the former railroad line between Lewes and Rehoboth in the mid-19th century. The first 3.6 miles (5.8 km) of the trail was opened in December 2003 after acquiring parcels and easements from private landowners. On June 4, 2007, an additional 2.4 miles (3.9 km) were added, extending the trail to Kings Highway in Lewes. Plans are being discussed to extend the trail further into town.The trail includes two bridges, including an 80-foot (24 m) long railroad bridge originally built in 1913 that crosses Holland Glade and provides views of coastal wetlands and of a World War II observation tower located on the coast. The trail consists of crushed stone with an average width of 12 feet (3.7 m).

Fort Miles was a United States Army World War II installation located on Cape Henlopen near Lewes, Delaware. Although funds to build the fort were approved in 1934, it was 1938 before construction began on the fort. On 3 June 1941 it was named for Lieutenant General Nelson A. Miles.As the primary fort of the Harbor Defenses of the Delaware, it was built to defend Delaware Bay and the Delaware River and to protect domestic shipping from enemy fire between Cape May and Cape Henlopen, particularly from the German surface fleet. The fort also operated a controlled underwater minefield to prevent ships entering the Delaware River estuary. One of these mines was revealed following 2016 Hurricane Hermine by local Cape Henlopen state park staff. The sea mine and anchor were archaeologically conserved.By 1950 the Army's coast defense role had been transferred to the Navy and coastal artillery defenses were obsolete with the fort becoming surplus. The Army continued to use portions and in 1962 the Navy established Naval Facility (NAVFAC) Lewes, a Sound Surveillance System (SOSUS) shore terminal there to replace the one at Cape May across the bay in New Jersey that was damaged in a storm. The NAVFAC was in commission 1 May 1962 to 30 September 1981. The headquarters building now houses the Biden Environmental Conference Center. The fort is now Cape Henlopen State Park.

North Shores is an unincorporated community in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. North Shores is located along the Atlantic Ocean north of Henlopen Acres and Rehoboth Beach and south of Cape Henlopen State Park.North Shores is a residential community that consists of 192 single-family homes, 48 apartments, and 55 townhomes, along with 10 homes and 11 condominiums added to the original community. In addition to residences, North Shores is home to a Bath & Tennis Club that consists of a swimming pool, two tennis courts, a marina for 25 boats, and 2,200 feet (670 m) of private beach along the Atlantic Ocean. North Shores was established in 1956 by Daniel G. Anderson and J. Rodney King, who purchased the land to build the community.A private security service, which is owned by the town of Henlopen Acres, began in North Shores in 1996. North Shores shares the services and expense of this security service with Henlopen Acres. The security service, which patrols all of Henlopen Acres and North Shores, operates two vehicles.

Col. David Hall House is a historic home located at Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware. The main house dates to about 1780, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay, frame structure. A lower 2+1⁄2-story wing was added about 1805. The main house is sheathed in its original cypress shingles and the wing in cedar shakes. It was the home of Colonel David Hall (1752-1817), who served as Governor of Delaware.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Georgetown Hundred is a hundred in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Georgetown Hundred was formed in 1863 from Broadkill Hundred. Its primary community is Georgetown.

Lewes Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church building located at 100 Kings Highway in Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware. It was built in 1832, as a frame meeting house measuring 45 feet by 37 feet. In 1869, the church was renovated to add a number of a Gothic Revival style features and the addition of a chancel with Gothic windows. In 1886–1887, the tower and belfry were added and two massive Corinthian order columns were added to the interior. In 1931, the church acquired its Colonial Revival style front door.The Lewes Presbyterian congregation was organized in 1692, and are the second oldest Presbyterian congregation in Delaware. The church is located on the site of the original 1727 brick church, which burned in 1871. Burials in the adjacent churchyard include two Delaware governors David Hall (1752-1817) and Ebe W. Tunnell (1844-1917) and congressman Robert G. Houston (1867-1946) and John W. Houston (1814-1896).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.Lewes Presbyterian Church is a member of the denomination: The Covenant Order of Evangelicals, also known as E.C.O. It is also a member of Heritage Presbytery.

Lewes ( LOO-iss) is an incorporated city on the Delaware Bay in eastern Sussex County, Delaware, United States. According to the 2020 census, its population was 3,303. Along with neighboring Rehoboth Beach, Lewes is one of the principal cities of Delaware's rapidly growing Cape Region. The city lies within the Salisbury, Maryland–Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lewes proudly claims to be "The First Town in The First State."

Zwaanendael or Swaanendael was a short-lived Dutch colonial settlement in Delaware. It was built in 1631. The name is archaic Dutch for "swan valley." The site of the settlement later became the town of Lewes, Delaware.

Coleman House is a historic home located at Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware. It dates to about 1815, and consists of a two-story, three-bay, frame main section with 1+1⁄2-story, frame wing. Both sections are sheathed in cypress and have gable roofs. It is an outstanding example of the early-19th-century rural architecture once common in the Lewes area.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Midway is an unincorporated area in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. It is located "midway" between Rehoboth Beach and Lewes along Delaware Route 1 at the intersection with Delaware Route 24. The community is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area.
