Albemarle () is a city in and the county seat of Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 16,432 in the 2020 census. Albemarle is located in the easternmost part of the Charlotte metropolitan area.

Five Points Historic District is a national historic district located at Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina. The district encompasses six contributing buildings in the central business district of Albemarle. They were built between about 1905 and 1950 and include notable examples of Early Commercial and Industrial architecture. Notable buildings include the Service Station-Building (c. 1929, 1940), Anderson Grocery Building (c. 1928), The Model Tailoring Company (1922, c. 1940), Morgan Motor Company Building (1922, 1930s), and Lillian Knitting Mills (1905, 1938, late 1940s). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Central Elementary School is a historic school in Albemarle, North Carolina whose current main building opened in 1925 as Albemarle High School, and whose previous building (Albemarle Graded School) located next door was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. Additions to the 1925 building were constructed in 1936 and a renovation and expansion completed in 2007. When the renovation was completed, Central Elementary moved from its original building next door. The renovation resulted in the Stanly County's school board being honored by Preservation North Carolina in 2008. The school has 561 students in grades pre-kindergarten to 5th grade and is SACS-accredited.

The Isaiah Wilson Snugs House, also known as the Isaiah Wilson Snugs House and the Marks House, are two historic homes located at Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina. The Marks House was built about 1847, and is a two-story, transitional Federal / Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It is the oldest surviving house in Albemarle. It was moved to its present site behind the Snuggs house in 1975. The Isaiah Wilson Snuggs House, the second oldest in Albemarle, was built about 1874, and is a two-story, three-bay, frame dwelling, with a two-room kitchen/dining room ell. The houses were restored in the 1980s and are operated as historic house museums by the Stanly County Museum. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Second Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 12 contributing buildings in the central business district of Albemarle. They were built between about 1898 and 1950 and include notable examples of Early Commercial and Late Gothic Revival style architecture. Notable buildings include The Alameda Theater (1916), Albemarle Hotel (1923), First Presbyterian Church (1924), (former) U.S. Post Office (1936), First Baptist Church (1919), Wilhelm Service Station (1950), Central Methodist Church (1908), City Hall (1938), and Hearne Building (1906). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Thomas Marcellus Denning House, is a historic home located at Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Louis H. Asbury and built in 1924–1925. It is a two-story, double pile, Spanish Colonial Revival-style brick dwelling. It features bracketed, tiled pent cornices; full-façade porch with a parapet roof; and a side/sun porch with a porte cochere. Also on the property is a contributing brick garage. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

WZKY (1580 AM, "Magic 103.3 FM") is a radio station licensed to serve Albemarle, North Carolina, United States. The station is owned by Stanly Communications and broadcasts an oldies music format that at one time included programming from the Classic Hits network by ABC Radio. WZKY is where Bob Harris, "Voice of the Blue Devils", got his start in the radio business.

Opera House–Starnes Jewelers Building, also known as Starnes Jewelers and Opera House, is a historic commercial building located at Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina. It was built in 1907–1908, and is a 2 1/2-story, Colonial Revival-style brick building. It has a parapet-front standing-seam metal roof. In 1939, the first floor storefronts were remodeled and fitted with black Carrara glass panel facades, plate glass, and chromium display windows and entrances in the Art Moderne style. The building's front was restored in 1990. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. It is located in the Downtown Albemarle Historic District.

Downtown Albemarle Historic District is a national historic district located at Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 20 contributing buildings in the central business district of Albemarle. They were built between about 1898 and 1950 and include notable examples of Early Commercial architecture. Located in the district and separately listed is the Starnes Opera House. Other notable buildings include the Central Lunch (1929-1930, c. 1950), Farmers Hardware and General Store (1898), King Block I (1898), King Block II (1898), King Block III (1898), J. C. Parker Building (1898), King Building (1898), Hall's Pharmacy Building (c. 1908), Efird Dry Goods Store (1903), The Enterprise Steam Print Building (1922), "The Big Store" (1898), Fitzgerald Building (1927), and Morgan Furniture Building (1924). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Quenby Mall, now known as Stanly County Commons, was a shopping mall located in Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. It was anchored by Belk, JCPenney, and Harris Teeter. The mall opened in 1966, and it was sold to Stanly County for their use in 1993.

With over 1,350 employees, Stanly County Schools is the largest employer in Stanly County, North Carolina serving more than 8,700 students in grades PK – 12.

Stanly Community College (SCC) is a public community college in Albemarle, North Carolina. It is part of the North Carolina Community College System. It has a satellite campus in Locust, North Carolina and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The college serves over 10,000 students annually in associate degree, diploma, certificate, general education, occupational training, adult literacy, and a comprehensive online degree program.
