Ballydown, County Antrim

Ballycronan More is a townland of 356 acres in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the civil parish of Islandmagee and the historic barony of Belfast Lower. The HVDC Moyle Interconnector is the HVDC link between Auchencrosh, South Ayrshire in Scotland and Ballycronan More, County Antrim, which went into service in 2001. It is owned and operated by Mutual Energy. The Static Inverter Plant is sited in Ballycronan More.

Ballylumford Dolmen is situated on Islandmagee, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, near the north-west tip of the Islandmagee peninsula and near Ballylumford power station. It is known locally as the "Druid's Altar", and could be 4000 years old, or the remains of an even earlier passage grave. The dolmen consists of four upright stones, with a heavy capstone and a fallenstone within the structure. This may have been put there to block the entrance to the tomb. The dolmen is in the front garden of a house. A wall plaque at the site describes the dolmen as a single chambered grave erected about 2000-1600 BC. Local finds indicate occupation of the neighbourhood during the Bronze Age. Ballylumford Dolmen is a portal tomb and a State Care Historic Monument in the townland of Ballylumford, in Larne Borough Council area at grid ref: D4304 0160.

Magheramorne (from Irish Machaire Morna - meaning 'Plain of Morna') is a hamlet in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is about 5 miles south of Larne on the shores of Larne Lough. It had a population of 75 people in the 2001 Census. Following the reform of Northern Ireland's local government system on 1 April 2015, Magheramorne lies within the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council area.

Magheramorne railway station serves Magheramorne in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The station was opened on 1 October 1862. Originally it was the site for the loading of aggregate trains, with the last one running in the 1970s.

Mill Bay is a small village on Islandmagee in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It sits by the tiny Carnspindle Bay, within the townland of Carnspindle. It is in the Larne Borough Council area. In the 2011 Census it had a population of 103 people (40 households). (2001 census: 93 people).

Browns Bay is a small sandy bay on the northern tip of the Islandmagee peninsula, near Larne in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The car park has 150 spaces. The caravan park closed in 2014 for operational reasons. A review of the facilities is currently being carried out. Dogs must be on a lead between 11.00 am and 6.00 pm from 1 June -31 August plus all Public and Bank Holidays. A Fixed Penalty of £80 is applicable. Outside these hours and for the rest of year there are no restrictions. However, owners are nevertheless asked to use their own good judgement, for example do not allow dogs loose if there are many people on the beach. Dog foul must never be left anywhere including the less accessible grass or stony areas. Place into the bins provided. A small shop is open part-time hours. Toilets have disabled and baby changing facilities. They are cleaned every day and open all year.

Swan Island is an island measuring 0.1 ha within the Larne Lough Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI) near Larne, Northern Ireland. The island is formed by stabilising shingle, gravel and stones overlain by a thin layer of soil. It is sited 550 m from the west shore of the lough and 3.1 km from the mouth. The ASSI is also an SPA (Special Protection Area) because it regularly supports internationally important numbers of light-bellied brent geese in winter. Swan Island, which was classified as an SPA in its own right in 1992, qualifies because, in summer, it supports nationally important breeding populations of rosate and common terns.The nationally rare plant bur chervil can also be found in significant abundance on Swan Island. Small numbers of both Sandwich and Arctic terns also breed at this site.

Ballylumford power station "C" station is a natural-gas-fired power station in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK. With its main plant generating 600 megawatts of electricity, it is Northern Ireland's largest power station and provides half its power. Overall the station produces 600 MW. The plant is located at the tip of the Islandmagee peninsula, which separates Larne Lough from the Irish Sea. The lough is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The 3 chimneys of the now decommissioned "B" station are 126 metres tall. East of the station is the Ballycronan More converter station, the Northern Ireland end of the Moyle Interconnector, a subsea HVDC interconnector connecting the NI electricity system to Great Britain.

Larne Lough, historically Lough Larne (from Irish Loch Latharna), is a sea loch or inlet in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It lies between the Islandmagee peninsula and the mainland. At its mouth is the town of Larne. It is designated as an area of special scientific interest, a special protection area, and a Ramsar site to protect the wetland environment, particularly due to the presence of certain bird species and shellfish.

Larne Harbour railway station, Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, serves the ferry port for ferries to Cairnryan. There are also occasional sailings to Douglas, Isle of Man in conjunction with the Isle of Man TT. Sailings to Cairnryan are operated by conventional ships and several crossings a day operate in each direction throughout the year. The station co-exists with the passenger terminus for P&O Ferries ferries offering simple integration for foot passengers. However, this situation is not mirrored at the Scottish terminus of Cairnryan, where the nearest railway station, Stranraer Harbour, is five miles from Cairnryan ferry terminal. The station was opened on 1 October 1862. It was improved in 1890 by Berkeley Deane Wise to a budget of £3,000 (equivalent to £351,255 in 2021), with a double faced platform, one side serving the broad gauge line from Belfast and the other the narrow gauge from Ballymena, and a clock with two minute hands showing both English and Irish time, which was 25 minutes later.

Olderfleet Castle is a four-storey towerhouse, the remains of which stand on Curran Point to the south of Larne Harbour in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The place name of Olderfleet may be a corruption of Ulfrecksfiord (or Ulfried's Fjord), the Viking name for Larne Lough.Olderfleet Castle is a State Care Historic Monument in the townland of Curran and Drumaliss, in the former Larne Borough Council area, at grid ref: D4133 0166.

The Chaine Memorial Tower in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, is a memorial to James Chaine, a former Member of Parliament for Antrim, who died in 1885. It is a cylindrical stone tower lighthouse with a conical roof, situated on the west side of entrance to Larne Lough. Chaine developed Larne's short sea route to Scotland as well as establishing the town as a transatlantic port. The memorial, built in 1888, by public subscription, is a replica of an Irish round tower. The memorial is situated at the mouth of Larne harbour, and is reached via Chaine Memorial Road. There is access from Curran Road via Bay Road.
