East Houston is a community in Houston, Texas, United States.

J.H. Crenshaw Memorial Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in unincorporated Harris County located northeast of Houston, Texas. The stadium is owned and operated by Sheldon Independent School District and is composed of a track and field which are used for various sports. The stadium is situated in the space between C.E. King Middle School and C.E. King High School and is shared by C.E. King Middle school and Michael R. Null Middle School. Until 2019 when Sheldon ISD Panther Stadium was opened, it was used by C.E. King High School The field is used for football during the first semester of the school year, and for soccer during the second half. Track and field athletics also use the stadium for competitive running, jumping, and throwing. It is mainly used for hosting University Interscholastic League athletic competitions against rival school districts in the region.

Texas's 18th congressional district of the United States House of Representatives includes much of inner city Houston and the surrounding area. It has been the Downtown Houston district since 1972. The current Representative from the 18th district is Sheila Jackson Lee. The district was first represented by Barbara Jordan, the first black woman elected to Congress from the South, who was praised by many for her powerful presence and oratorical skills.Since the district was moved to Houston in 1972, it has voted for a Democrat in every presidential election. The district gave George McGovern 69% in 1972 and Walter Mondale 72% in 1984.

Houmont Park is an Unincorporated community in east central Harris County, Texas, United States. It is located along Beaumont Highway (U.S. Highway 90) and the Southern Pacific Railroad, 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of the Sheldon Reservoir.The subdivision developed during the 1950s and the 1960s, as Greater Houston expanded in size.

C.E. King High School is a secondary school located in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States and serves grades 9 through 12. It is the only high school in the Sheldon Independent School District. The school serves unincorporated areas of northeast Harris County including the Sheldon CDP and several nearby communities (Beaumont Place, Houmont Park) and subdivisions. As of 2013, C.E. King High School is rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Beaumont Place is an unincorporated community in east central Harris County, Texas, United States. It is located along Beaumont Highway (U.S. Highway 90) and the Southern Pacific Railroad. It is 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of the Sheldon Reservoir.As of 2004, several houses in Beaumont Place discharged wastewater into ditches and shallow trenches. For this reason the Texas Safe and Affordable Water and Wastewater Services (TSAWW) began to target Beaumont Place for improvements.

North Forest High School (NFHS) is a secondary school located in Houston, Texas, United States. The school is a part of the Houston Independent School District (HISD); it was a part of the North Forest Independent School District (NFISD) until the district closed on July 1, 2013.

Bennie Carl Elmore High School was a senior high school in Houston, Texas. It was a part of the East and Mount Houston Independent School District. It was a school for black students, and it served the community of Settegast. It opened in 1957. Its namesake served as the principal from 1957 to 1969. The 27 classroom building had a cost of $513,113.00. It was converted into a junior high school on when Forest Brook High School opened in 1972. The building was razed and replaced with a new middle school structure in 1999. In 2013 this new campus became the B.C. Elmore Elementary School of the Houston Independent School District. During its life its main feeder grade schools were Settegast School and Hilliard School.

North Shore is a community in east side of Harris County, Texas with a small portion inside the city of Houston, Texas. The area includes subdivisions such as Songwood, Holiday Forest, Wood Bayou, Cimarron, Home Owned Estates, Woodland Acres, Hidden Forest, Pine Trails, Woodforest, Woodforest North, New Forest, and New Forest West, as well as newer neighborhoods near Highway 90 and Beltway 8 North Sam Houston Parkway. Northshore was annexed by Houston in the 1950s.The best known subdivision in North Shore is Woodforest, a Taylor Home development. Taylor, founder and CEO of VIP Homes, began building in North Shore in the late 1960s and early 1970s, primarily ranch style, single family homes. North Shore is served by line #137 in the Metro system of buses which run all over Houston.

Dyersdale is an Unincorporated community in Harris County, Texas, United States. The name originates from Clement C. Dyer, one of the "Old Three Hundred" of Stephen F. Austin's colonists.A post office opened in 1913. In 1914 the community, with 250 residents, had a lumber company. The post office closed in 1917. An oilfield opened in the mid-1930s. In 1936 the community had scattered residences and a school. By 1946 the oilfield was still in production. In the 1980s Dyersdale had an abandoned railroad station, a church, and a trailer park.

Settegast is a neighborhood in northeast Houston; it has an average population density between one and five. The community is bordered by the 610 Loop, the Union Pacific Railroad Settegast Yard, and the old Beaumont Highway. The community has many small, wood-framed houses and empty lots. Habitat for Humanity has a prominent stake in the area, and a community garden is underway. There are few commercial and industrial uses within Settegast. Also, contemporary housing has started to arise within new construction in the area. The City of Houston designated Settegast as a Houston HOPE neighborhood.

Ebbert L. Furr High School is a secondary school located in Houston, Texas, United States. Furr, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Houston Independent School District. Furr is adjacent to Hermann Brown Park and the Songwood subdivision.Furr is home to the META (Mindful Exploration of Technology and the Arts) Magnet Program; prior to 2007 Furr hosted an international studies magnet program. The HISD charter school REACH Charter is located at Furr.
