Iowa Western Community College is a public community college in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It was founded in 1967 and offers 84 programs in both vocational and technical areas as well as in liberal arts. It is also home to a flight school.

Saint Albert Catholic Schools is a private, Roman Catholic K-12 school in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. Saint Albert's mascot is a falcon for the boys, while the girls are known as the saintes. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Des Moines. In addition to Council Bluffs it takes students from Glenwood, Neola, and Missouri Valley. Additionally it takes students from portions of Nebraska.

Walnut Hill Cemetery is a cemetery located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The land for the cemetery was platted in 1860, with thirty acres being dedicated to that purpose, and a major reorganization was carried out in the early 1910s.Notable people interred there include Charles Edward Swanson (1879–1970), William Henry Mills Pusey (1826–1900), Joseph Rea Reed (1835–1925), and Grenville Mellen Dodge (1831–1916).

Mall of the Bluffs was a shopping mall in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. Built in 1986, the mall featured J. C. Penney, Dillard's, Sears, and Target as its anchor stores at its peak. After both JCPenney and Target moved to other developments in Council Bluffs, it began a sharp decline in tenancy throughout the 2010s. The mall closed on December 30, 2019.

The Park/Glen Avenues Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. At the time of its nomination the district consisted of 228 resources, including 179 contributing buildings, one contributing site, five contributing structures, three contributing objects, and 43 non-contributing buildings. The district is a stylish residential neighborhood that developed between 1857 and 1942 with most of the houses built between 1880 and 1930. It was home to the area's "prosperous, second generation merchants, railroad and real estate financiers, and professionals." Several houses have been attributed to architects, including Perley Hale from Chicago, and local architects J. Chris Jensen, and John C. and Winfield S. Woodward. The Lysander Tulleys House (1877) and the Thomas E. Cavin House (1887) are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A non-residential building in the district is the Glendale Reservoir Pumping Station (1942).

The Lysander Tulleys House is a historic building located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. Born in Ohio, Tulleys was a school teacher and served in the Civil War before settling in Council Bluffs where he was a partner in Burnham-Tulleys, which provided agricultural loans. In the 1890s they expanded their partnership and entered into real estate, which helped them survive the decade's economic downturn. This 2½-story brick Victorian house was designed by Chicago architect P.E. Hale, and built by Wickham Brothers, a local contractor. The focal point is a three-story square tower capped by a mansard roof with dormers. Its first two stories are brick and the third story is wood with corner pilasters. The friezes above the windows of the main facade are concrete. The other decorative elements are rather simple and include plain cornices and relatively unadorned porches. The house was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 2010 it was included as a contributing property in the Park/Glen Avenues Historic District.

The Thomas E. Cavin House is a historic building located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. Built in 1887, it is an unusual and well-preserved brick example of an eclectic combination of Colonial Revival, Gothic Revival, and Queen Anne architectural elements. Cavin owned a dry goods store nearby. He lived here until he died in 1911, and the house remained in the family until 1919. At some point it had been converted into apartments. The house was damaged in a fire in 1934, and had to be partially rebuilt, especially the roof. The front porch is not original. The house was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. In 2010 it was included as a contributing property in the Park/Glen Avenues Historic District.

The 100 Block of West Broadway Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. At the time of its nomination the district consisted of 30 resources, including 22 contributing buildings, and eight non-contributing buildings. The linear district on the east side of the central business district is the north side of Broadway. Developed between mid-1850s and 1928, it is the only section of the street that has maintained its historical integrity. The buildings are one to three stories tall with commercial space on the main floor. While many are vernacular commercial structures, others are the various revival styles of Victorian architecture.

The Hughes-Irons Motor Company is a historic building located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. Floyd Hughes and George Irons established an automobile sales and service business selling Ford cars and tractors. They built the eastern six bay section of this building in 1917. The two-story brick structure exhibits elements of the Mission Revival style. Irons left the partnership three years later and was replaced by Parmer. Hughes-Parmer added the four western bays in 1923, before the business split into two different companies. Parmer maintained the Ford dealership in the original building and Hughes opened a Chevrolet dealership in the addition. Parmer was replaced by the Atlantic Auto Company in 1930. They were the first in a long line of automobile repair shops and dealerships that occupied the original section of the building. Hughes remained in the addition until 1979, although they expanded into the neighboring building to the west in 1944. Restoration of the building began in 2008, reversing the alterations done to its main facade. The local chamber of commerce occupies the main floor, and the second floor was converted into apartments. J. Chris Jensen was the architect, and the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Iowa School for the Deaf is a pre-K to 12th grade school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It serves students who live in Iowa and Nebraska.

The Pottawattamie County Jail, also known as 'Squirrel Cage Jail' in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States was built in 1885 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The building is a Squirrel Cage Jail, also known as a Rotary Jail.
