Central Jersey College Prep Charter School is a comprehensive public charter elementary / middle / high school that serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grade, located in the Somerset section of Franklin Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. The school operates under the terms of a charter granted by the New Jersey Department of Education granted in 2006. In addition to students from Franklin Township, the school also serves students from the neighboring communities of New Brunswick and North Brunswick Township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,219 students and 94.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.9:1. There were 175 students (14.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 73 (6.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 2,326. It is perhaps most distinguished as being the host section for Franklin Township's municipal complex. Middlebush still has a rural feel with 19th-century homes and tree-lined streets. Middlebush was once a stop on the Millstone and New Brunswick Railroad, and this legacy is evident in the street named Railroad Avenue that presently has no railroad tracks in sight.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 1,235.Situated on the east side of the Millstone River north of East Millstone and south of Zarephath (which has grown to include some of the area once considered Weston), early names used for the area were Schenck's Mill, Van Neste's Mill and Frogtown. Historically, an area on the west side of the river in what is now part of the borough of Manville was also referred to as Weston (and is labeled as such on official present-day maps).

The William L. Hutcheson Memorial Forest is a 500-acre (200 ha) natural preserve at 2150 Amwell Rd. (Route 514) about 3/4 of a mile east of East Millstone in Franklin Township, Somerset County, NJ. It is known for its untouched stand of old growth forest. The Forest was declared a National Natural Landmark in December 1976.

Middlebush Reformed Church known as "the church with the red doors", is located at 1 South Middlebush Road at the corner of Amwell Road in Franklin Township, Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. It is the fourth oldest church in Franklin Township. It was organized in 1834, and the New York Times noted their first church was built in Colonial times and was one of the landmarks of the region. The church is a contributing property of the Middlebush Village Historic District that was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 24, 2007.The church is a part of the Reformed Church in America.

The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 24, 2007. It includes 37 contributing buildings and three contributing sites.

East Millstone is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located in Franklin Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 579. It is a small rural community that grew and prospered with a small industrial base in the 19th Century, centered on the Delaware and Raritan Canal at Amwell Road and the long-abandoned Millstone and New Brunswick Railroad that terminated in East Millstone. East Millstone was an independent municipality from 1873–1949. The East Millstone Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
