Van Zile House was located in Midland Park, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1736 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983. The house was one of a series of similar stone houses along the same county road, the others being across the municipal border in Wyckoff, New Jersey. An LLC purchased the property and submitted preliminary plans for demolition in June 2018. The borough's leadership failed to provide any zoning or planning protections for the house, and in spite of the efforts of historic preservationists, the house was demolished the week of May 5, 2019 in favor of high-density housing. No components of the house were saved, nor were any of the 100 to 200-year-old trees that covered most of the property.

Midland Park is a borough in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 7,014, a decrease of 114 (−1.6%) from the 2010 census count of 7,128, which in turn reflected an increase of 181 (+2.6%) from the 6,947 counted in the 2000 census.Midland Park was incorporated as a borough on September 6, 1894, at the height of the "Boroughitis" craze then sweeping through Bergen County that led to the creation of over two dozen new municipalities in the county in that one year alone. The new borough consisted of portions of both Franklin Township and Ridgewood Township. The borough expanded in April 1920 by adding another part of Franklin Township. In a referendum held on June 9, 1931, Midland Park acquired additional land from Wyckoff (which until 1926 had been known as Franklin Township). The borough says that Midland Park was named after the New Jersey Midland Railway, which operated the railroad passing through the area of the borough in the 1870s, though elsewhere the name is said to be based on being situated "amid Bergen hills".

The Terhune House is located at 161 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The house was initially constructed in 1737, with the second major renovation occurring in 1776. Terhune family lore suggests that the family were French Huguenots who fled France in the 16th century to pursue their religious beliefs. The family settled in Holland and after two or three generations of intermarrying within the Dutch community they set their sights on Pre-Colonial America. Albert Albertse ter Hune arrived on the shores of New Netherland (New York City) from Holland in December 1637. Arriving on the ship “Calmar Sleutel” he settled, for what would become the 1st of 15 generations of Terhunes in North America.

Midland Park Jr./Sr. High School is a six-year comprehensive public high school for students in seventh through twelfth grades in Midland Park, in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Opened in 1957, it is a junior-senior high school operating as the lone secondary school of the Midland Park School District. As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 327 students and 43.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 7.5:1. There were 13 students (4.0% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 5 (1.5% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The house was built in 1745 by Barent Van Horn and is referred to as a telescope house because of the way it starts as a small house and larger additions were built later.
