On 6 September 1952, a prototype de Havilland DH.110 jet fighter crashed during an aerial display at the Farnborough Airshow in Hampshire, England. The jet disintegrated mid-air during an aerobatic manoeuvre, causing the death of pilot John Derry and onboard flight test observer Anthony Richards. Debris from the aircraft fell onto a crowd of spectators, killing 29 people and injuring 60.The cause of the break-up was later determined to be structural failure due to a design flaw in the wing's leading edge. All DH.110s were initially grounded, but after modification to its design, the type entered service with the Royal Navy as the Sea Vixen. Stricter safety procedures were subsequently enacted for UK air shows and there were no further spectator fatalities until the 2015 Shoreham Airshow crash in which 11 people died.

Farnborough International Airshow Radio is the official radio station of the Farnborough International Airshow, and has been part of the airshow's official media outlets for over twenty years. The station was last run by media professionals Fred Marden and Paul Hutton. A significant dimension to the project is the contribution from media students from the nearby Farnborough College of Technology.

The airfield is the home of the Farnborough Airshow which is held in even numbered years. It is also home to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) and the southern office of Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB), both part of the Department for Transport.

Cove Brook runs 4 miles (6.4 km) from near Farnborough Airport in Farnborough, Hampshire, England and flows through the former Southwood Golf Course where it is joined by Marrow Brook and other smaller streams. It runs north through Cove before joining the Blackwater at Hawley Meadows near the M3 motorway.

Grasmere Road is a cricket ground located north of Farnborough Airport on Grasmere Road, from which the ground gets its name, in Cove, Hampshire, England. The ground is bordered by housing on its west and north sides, while to the south it is bordered by an open field and on its east side by woodland. The grounds facilities include a pavilion, practice nets and a scoreboard. The ground is owned by Cove Cricket Club, which was founded in 1935.The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1988 when Hampshire Under-16s played Berkshire Under-16s. The ground was used by Cove Cricket Club and Hampshire age-group teams throughout the 1990s. The ground hosted a single MCCA Knockout Trophy match between the Hampshire Cricket Board and the Sussex Cricket Board in 1999, while the following season a single List A match was played there in the 2000 NatWest Trophy between the Hampshire Cricket Board and Huntingdonshire, which Huntingdonshire won by 28 runs. Ross Hunter of the Hampshire Cricket Board top scored in the match with 33, while the Hampshire Cricket Board's Christopher Yates and Huntingdonshire's Billy Young both took 3 wickets each.

The equestrian events at the 1948 London Summer Olympics included dressage, eventing, and show jumping. All three disciplines had both individual and team competitions. The competitions were held from 9 to 14 August 1948, with the first five days held in the military complex at Aldershot, the endurance day on the army grounds of Aldershot at Tweseldown, and the jumping at the Empire Stadium in Wembley. World War II resulted in a greatly reduced number of competitors, including the absence of Germany, although Brazil made its first appearance in the equestrian events. 103 entries from 17 nations (Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United States) competed. The youngest participant was Aëcio Coelho from Brazil at 23 years old, while the oldest rider was the Italian Alessandro, Count Bettoni Cazzago, at 55 years old.

The Officers Club Services Ground is a cricket ground in Fleet Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, England. Aldershot had been a small village until 1853, but was transformed following the purchase of 25,000 acres of land by the War Office for military training. Over the following two decades Aldershot was transformed into a garrison town, by 1874 a number of cricket grounds, including the Officers Club Services Ground, had been constructed for use by the various regiments garrisoned there.
