State National Bank Building (Houston, Texas)

The Texas Company Building, located at 1111 Rusk (720 Jacinto) in Houston, Texas, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 2, 2003.The 13-story structure opened in 1915 as home of the Texas Company. The New York firm of Warren and Wetmore designed the building in the Renaissance Revival style with Beaux-Arts accents. The exterior is faced with brick, terra cotta and Bedford limestone and features vaulted arcades supported by Tuscan columns along its Rusk and San Jacinto Street façades. The Texas Company became Texaco in 1959 and continued to occupy the building until 1989 when it moved to another facility. To accommodate growth, the company expanded the structure three times between 1936 and 1975.Since the building became vacant, developers proposed several plans to reuse it, however none were successful. In 2011, a development consortium created a plan for approximately 300 apartments with retail space and parking. They began work in 2013 and have demolished part of the structure but kept the 13-story section, the 1936 annex and the 16-story expansion added in 1958. Eventual plans call for a 38-story tower behind the historic structure.The management expects to open the completed building at the end of 2015.

The Scanlan Building, located at 405 Main Street in Houston, Texas, is an eleven-story, 76,403sq.ft building completed in 1909. Built on the site of the first official home of the president of the Republic of Texas, it was the first building of its size and type to be designed by a major national architect to be built in Houston, and set the style for future construction in the area. It is the only known office building in Houston which was designed by D.H. Burnham & Company of Chicago. The building was the first to be built higher than ten stories, breaking the limit preferred by Houston developer Jesse H. Jones.The building was first envisioned by Thomas Howe Scanlan, two-time mayor of Houston, to be built on the property he owned at Main and Preston streets. After his death in 1906, his seven daughters built the building as a memorial to him. Approximately 85 feet by 101 feet, the building was among the first in Houston to use a fireproof steel skeleton.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 23, 1980.

The Henry Brashear Building is a Victorian-era commercial building at 910 Prairie Avenue in downtown Houston. The building was completed in 1882 under the direction of architect, Eugene T. Heiner. It was restored in 1990 and designated as a Houston landmark in 2009.

The Paul Building is a high-rise office building located at 1018 Preston Avenue in Houston, Texas. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 6, 1979. Completed in 1907, the building has been home to a wide range of businesses and professionals. It housed the United States District Court in 1910, and with its proximity to the county courthouse, it became a popular location for attorneys. Its tenants have also included a newspaper, and the Y.M.C.A. The building changed its name to the Hoffman Building in 1918 and then to the Turnbow Building in 1927. It has been known as the Republic Building since 1923.The building is eight stories tall, built of brown brink with load bearing walls. Terra cotta ornamentation includes several cartouches with a raised "P" representing the original owner, Allen Paul.

Main Street Market Square Historic District is a historic district in Houston, Texas that includes the Market Square Park. It includes buildings nearby, as well as the square itself. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Preston is a station on the METRORail Red Line in Houston, Texas (USA). The station is located at Main Street and Preston Street in Downtown Houston. This was the 2nd station heading south along the rail line, but the rail has expanded further north as of spring, 2014. This station is located in the Northern, Historic part of Downtown Houston.

The Rice, formerly the Rice Hotel, is an historic building at 909 Texas Avenue in Downtown Houston, Texas, United States. The current building is the third to occupy the site. It was completed in 1913 on the site of the former Capitol building of the Republic of Texas, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The old Capitol building was operated as a hotel until it was torn down and replaced by a new hotel around 1881. Jesse H. Jones built a new seventeen-story, double-winged hotel in 1913, also called "The Rice Hotel." This building underwent major expansions: adding a third wing in 1925, adding an eighteenth floor in 1951, and adding a five-story "motor lobby" in 1958. In addition, there were several renovations during its life as a hotel. It continued to operate as a hotel before finally shutting down in 1977. After standing vacant for twenty-one years, The Rice was renovated as apartments and reopened in 1998 as the Post Rice Lofts. It was sold in 2014 and renamed simply The Rice.

The Sweeney, Coombs, and Fredericks Building is a late Victorian commercial building with a 3-story corner turret and Eastlake decorative elements that was designed by George E. Dickey in 1889. The building is located at 301 Main Street in Houston, Texas and occupies the corner of Main Street and Congress Street in Downtown Houston. The building is one of the few Victorian-style architectural structures that remains in the city. The building received a "City of Houston Landmark" designation in 2009. The building is included in the National Register of Historic Places by virtue of being a conforming structure in the Main Street/Market Square Historic District.

Points of View is an outdoor 1991 sculpture by James Surls, installed at Market Square Park in Houston, Texas, in the United States. The abstract sculpture is made of treated pine and painted steel, and measures 25 feet (7.6 m) x 8 feet (2.4 m) x 4 feet (1.2 m). It is mounted on a concrete base that measures 3 inches (7.6 cm) x 54 inches (140 cm). The work was dedicated in 1992, following Market Square Park's renovation during 1991–1992.

The Sam Houston Hotel is a historic hotel in Downtown Houston, Texas, United States that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel received its listing on April 17, 2002.The Sam Houston Hotel Company built the hotel in 1924 to cater to the budget minded business traveler. It was designed by the firm Sanguinet, Staats, Hedrick & Gottlieb. The hotel operated until the 1970s by owners William and Vonnie Brooks. In 2002, it was bought by Randall D. Smith, his wife Barbara Stovall Smith (a Houston native), and his brother Jeffrey Smith, who extensively remodelled it and rebranded it in 2005 as the Alden Hotel, as the owners hoped to expand the Alden brand to other cities. The hotel offers 100 rooms and suites.In 2010, the ownership of the Alden Houston formally transferred to Northwood Investors. In 2012, Northwood sold the hotel to American Liberty Hospitality and Gentry Mills Capital and returned to its original name as The Sam Houston Hotel. It underwent a renovation in 2013.

Hotel ICON is a boutique hotel located in downtown Houston, Texas, USA. The hotel is part of Marriott International's Autograph Collection Hotels. Located in the former Union National Bank building that was constructed in 1911, the hotel was designed by San Francisco design firm Candra Scott & Anderson at the cost of $35 million. The 12-story hotel features 135 guest rooms and nine individually designed signature suites that include custom-designed period furnishings and décor with original artwork.

The Pillot Building, located at 1006 Congress Avenue in Downtown Houston, Texas, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1974. However, the structure suffered severe damage in the 1980s and collapsed during reconstruction in 1988. A replica of the original building, incorporating some of the original cast iron columns, sills, and lintels, was completed in 1990. The replica was removed from the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.The building was constructed between 1857 and 1869 by Eugene Pillot (1820-1896), and served a variety of tenants including a dry good merchant and professional offices. It was notable for cast iron front structure.
