Gilleleje (Danish pronunciation: [kiləˈlɑjə]) is a fishing town and seaside resort on the north coast of the peninsula North Zealand, Denmark. The town is located at the northernmost point of the island of Zealand. It is one of the main towns of the Gribskov municipality in Region Hovedstaden in Denmark. As of 1 January 2023, it has a population of 6,778.

Until 1 January 2007 Græsted-Gilleleje was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Frederiksborg County on the north coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 134 km², and had a total population of 20,936 (2005). Its last mayor was Jannich Petersen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Gilleleje. Græsted-Gilleleje municipality ceased to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was combined with Helsinge municipality to form the new Gribskov municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 278 km² and a total population of 40,409 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region Hovedstaden ("Capital Region").

Gilleleje East (Danish: Gilleleje Øst; previously: Østerport) is a railway halt serving the eastern part of the fishing town and seaside resort of Gilleleje on the north coast of the island of Zealand, Denmark. The railway is located on the Hornbæk Line from Helsingør to Gilleleje and opened in 1916. The train services are currently operated by the railway company Lokaltog which runs frequent local train services between Helsingør station and Gilleleje station.

The train services are currently operated by the railway company Lokaltog which runs frequent local train services from Gilleleje to Helsingør station and Hillerød station with onward connections from there to the rest of Denmark.The station opened in 1896, and its second and current station building designed by the architect Heinrich Wenck was inaugurated in 1918.

Pårup halt is a railway halt serving the small settlement of Pårup near Gilleleje in North Zealand, Denmark. Pårup halt is located on the Gribskov Line from Hillerød to Gilleleje. The train services are currently operated by the railway company Lokaltog which runs frequent local train services between Hillerød station and Gilleleje station.The station was opened in 1896 with the opening of the Græsted-Gilleleje section of the Gribskov Line. The original station building was designed by architect Heinrich Wenck. The station building has since been torn down.

Søborg Castle (Danish: Søborg Slot, pronounced [ˈsøˌpɒˀ ˈslʌt]) is a ruined castle south of Gilleleje in North Zealand, Denmark. It was one of the strongest castles in Denmark and was also used as a prison. It was inhabited until the Count's Feud in 1535, when it is speculated that it was destroyed. In 1577, the feudal tenant was granted permission to use the ruins as a quarry.

Søborg is a parish and small community situated a few kilometers south of Gilleleje in Gribskov Municipality, North Zealand, Denmark, some 40 km north of Copenhagen. It takes its name after Søborg Castle, which was destroyed during the Count's Feud and is now left as a ruin. The town was a market town in the Middle Ages and remained the main town of Holbo Herred until the beginning of the 19th century. Today it only has a population of 236 (1 January 2023). Søborg Church dates from the 12th century. Søborg Lake to the north of the town was drained in the 19th century.

Munkerup is a coastal district of Hornbæk-Dronningmølle in the north of Zealand, Denmark. It is located in Gribskov Municipality, two kilometres to the west of Dronningmølle and four kilometres east of Gilleleje. In 2009, Munkerup had a population of 791.

Nordsjællands Veterantog (NSJV) was founded as Helsingør Jernbaneklub in 1958 as a model railway club in Helsingør, Denmark. The club had its ups and downs in the early years, but the big turning point was when it was decided to try and work with scale 1:1. In 1968, the first service was operated and soon the club had turned into a heritage railway rather than a model railway club. Acitivies soon grew and kept doing so steadily over the years. In 1992 it was decided to reorganise activities, essentially creating a foundation to take care of "business" issues. This foundation is the proper hold of the name Nordsjællands Veterantog, which translations into Heritage Railway of North Zealand. The club was responsible for the maintenance and operations, and this was renamed in 1995 to Nordsjællands Jernbaneklub (Railway Club of North Zealand) in order to match the name of the foundation. NSJV has never owned their own tracks. Instead, services are operated on regular railway tracks used by operators such as DSB and Lokaltog. Services run mostly in Northern Zealand, with scheduled services running on weekends and Wednesdays throughout the summer. Activities are based around two locations: The old station in Græsted is the home of the foundation and the club and also houses maintenance for carriages and diesel locomotives, whereas Rungsted depot is the home of the steam locomotives. Operational locomotives include three steam locomotives, two diesel locomotives, and various shunting and service vehicles. Both depots are now owned by NSJV. In 2009, restored steam locomotive DSB K-582 entered service after a long project to bring it back to life. It has been restored to the class K look with the new, larger boiler and round dome. While it is still air-braked and thus has a Knorr pump on the side, most components of the air braking system (including the tanks) have been hidden from view to get as close as possible to the vacuum-braked look. The Rungsted depot is now being prepared for the next major project, the restoration of DSB S-740, which was featured in the James Bond movie Octopussy. Work still continues in the Græsted depot on the GDS L1 locomotive.
