Jones Creek is a village in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,020 at the 2010 census. It is the first location in Texas where Stephen F. Austin settled.

Gulf Prairie Cemetery (also known as Gulph Prairie Cemetery, Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Cemetery, and Peach Point Cemetery) is located in Jones Creek, Texas, United States, off State Highway 36 and County Road 304 and was the original resting place of Stephen F. Austin.

Peach Point Plantation is a historic site located in Jones Creek, Brazoria County, Texas. It was a forced-labor farm and the homestead and domicile of many early Texas settlers, including Emily Austin Perry, James Franklin Perry, William Joel Bryan, Stephen Fuller Austin, and Guy Morrison Bryan. The land was operated as a working forced-labor farm producing cotton and sugar cane from 1832 until 1863.

Oakland is an unincorporated community in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. The community is located to the west of Freeport.

Hopper Field is a stadium located in Freeport, Texas on the campus of Brazosport High School at the east banks of the Brazos River. It is currently home to the high school football teams of the Brazosport Independent School District (BISD), and seats 10,478. It was named in honor of Brazosport High School coach Herbert Eugene Hopper who had served in that position since 1927. Hopper later became the athletic director of the school, and continued in that role before finally retiring in 1971. The stadium is also the site for BISD commencement ceremonies.

Clemens Unit (CN) is a prison farm of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in unincorporated Brazoria County, Texas, in Greater Houston. The prison, with about 8,008 acres (3,241 ha), is located at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 2004 and Texas State Highway 36. The prison, in the Texas Gulf Coast region, is in proximity to the City of Brazoria, and it is in proximity to the Velasco community, now a part of Freeport. The prison is situated south of Houston.

Brazoswood High School is a public high school located in Clute, Texas, United States. It educates grades nine through twelve and is part of the Brazosport Independent School District. Its attendance boundary includes: Clute, Lake Jackson, and Richwood.The first class graduated 356 students in May 1971. The Alma Mater, written especially for this school, was not completed until just before graduation. When it was played at the ceremonies in May 1971, the graduating seniors were hearing it for the first time and therefore could not sing their alma mater at graduation. Approximately 2,500 students attend Brazoswood High School. More than eighty percent of the students participate in one or more of the many clubs, organizations, and sports.In the National Merit Program, Brazoswood had one National Merit Semi-finalist, one Hispanic Scholar, and 9 Commended students in 2012. Brazoswood High School was named as one of the top Texas High Schools by U.S. News & World Report in their article, "Best High Schools 2012." BHS is also ranked nationally in the Top 10%. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Brazosport High School is a public high school located at the intersection of Brazosport Boulevard and West 2nd Street in Freeport, Texas, United States. It handles grades nine through twelve and is part of the Brazosport Independent School District. The high school serves the following: Freeport, as well as surrounding Jones Creek, Oyster Creek, Quintana, and Surfside Beach. The campus recently received major renovations, removing the majority of the original campus.

Lake Jackson is a city in Brazoria County, Texas, United States, within the Greater Houston metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 28,177.In 1942 a portion of Lake Jackson was first developed as a company town for workers of the Dow Chemical Company; it developed 5,000 acres on the former Abner Jackson Plantation. An oxbow lake was also named after the planter, whose house was located at the lake. Minor ruins of the Lake Jackson Plantation can now be seen in a park at the site.

The Alden B. Dow Office and Lake Jackson City Hall is a historic, single-story, wood-frame commercial building in Lake Jackson, Texas, located near Freeport. Built in 1943, it was designed by noted Michigan architect Alden B. Dow in Modern Movement architectural style. The structure was designed as part of a company town of Dow Chemical Company and served as Alden Dow's local office during the development of Lake Jackson. Alden Dow, sometimes called the "Father of Lake Jackson" laid out the plan for the city's streets and designed all of the city's initial buildings, plus six models for varied styles of residences. Dow was the son of the Dow Chemical Company's founder, Herbert Henry Dow. In a May 1944 publication issued by Dow Chemical Company, the Alden B. Dow Office and Lake Jackson City Hall were described as follows: "If anything were ever modern it is that office. Picture windows, blue-gray walls, a brilliant green ceiling, magenta doors and trim—and the rest, yellow. Dow's city-builder in the functional vest tells you that the color scheme of his office is typical of Lake Jackson." The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Battle of the Brazos River was an engagement fought in the Brazos River on April 17, 1837, between the Mexican Navy and the Texian Navy.

Clute is a city in Brazoria County, Texas, United States, within the Houston metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 10,604. The city gained some fame with the discovery of a fossilized mammoth named Asiel.
