Dromina (Irish: Drom Aidhne) is a village and townland in County Cork, Ireland. 9 km south-west of Charleville, the village is in the civil parish of Shandrum, close to the village of Newtownshandrum. As of the 2016 census, Dromina had a population of 275 people, up from 207 as of the 1996 census.The local church, Saints Peter and Paul church (built in 1936), is in Shandrum parish within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne. As of the start of the 2020 school year, Dromina's national (primary) school had an enrollment of 68 pupils.

Newtownshandrum (Irish: Baile Nua Sheandroma) is a small village in County Cork, Ireland located 6.5 kilometres (4 mi) west of Charleville on the R515 road. The name translates from Irish to mean 'new town of the old ridge'. Historic maps from 1829 to 1841 and 1897–1913 identify the village as Newtown. Newtownshandrum is within the Dáil constituency of Cork North-West.

Newtownshandrum GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the small village of Newtownshandrum in County Cork, Ireland. The club, situated in half a parish of about 800 people, was founded in 1896 and is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. In senior hurling Newtownshandrum compete annually in the Cork Senior Club Hurling Championship, which they have won four times as of 2009. The club, one of the few senior teams from the Avondhu division in the northern part of the county, also competes in various other championships in all grades within Cork.

Liscarroll Castle is a 13th-century Hiberno-Norman fortress in County Cork, Ireland. In July 1642, at the start of the Irish Confederate Wars, the castle was seized by Irish Confederate forces commanded by Garret Barry. After the subsequent Battle of Liscarroll, the castle was recaptured by British forces commanded by Murrough O'Brien, 1st Earl of Inchiquin. The castle is the subject of an 1854 poem by Callaghan Hartstonge Gayner which concludes: Beneath its folds assemble now, and fight with might and main, That grand old fight to make our land "A nation once again", And falter not till alien rule in dark oblivion falls, We’ll stand as freemen yet, beneath those old Liscarroll walls. The castle was used as a military outpost by a detachment of 17th Lancers during the Irish War of Independence. The outpost was abandoned in 1921 after an IRA raid.The remains of Castle Liscarroll still tower over the village of Liscarroll and the surrounding countryside.

The Battle of Liscarroll was fought on 3 September 1642 in northern County Cork, Munster, between Irish Confederate and Royalist troops. The battle was part of the Irish Confederate Wars, which had started in the north in 1641 reaching Munster in 1642. The Confederates, about 8,500 strong, were led by Garret Barry, an Irish veteran from the Spanish Army of Flanders. The Royalist forces, about 2,400 strong, were commanded by Murrough O'Brien, 6th Baron of Inchiquin, an Irish Protestant. Despite his numerical disadvantage Inchiquin routed his enemies by the strength of his cavalry and the firepower of his musketeers.

Kilmeedy (Irish: Cill Míde) is a village in County Limerick, Ireland, in the parish of Feenagh-Kilmeedy. In Irish, Kilmeedy translates as Cill m'Íde, or Church of my Ita. This refers to Saint Ita who founded a church in the area before moving to another parish in the Limerick area, Killeedy, also named after the saint. Kilmeedy was a medieval settlement, and Feenagh/Kilmeedy became a parish in 1851. Kilmeedy village is located on the R519 from Ballingarry to Dromcolliher at a crossroads. Five roads radiate from the village. The population of the parish is about 900. According to 1911 Census records for Kilmeedy, the population of the village alone at the time was 274. There is one supposed holy well in Kilmeedy's surrounding townlands called St. Brigid's Well. A little to the north of the village there is situated a mass rock which was used as a site for illegal Catholic mass services during the time of the Penal Laws. It is still used for outdoor masses to this day on some ceremonial occasions. The village hosts an annual vintage rally towards the later summer months showcasing many vintage vehicles and many old fashioned trades. The local GAA club is Feenagh-Kilmeedy and the club have one Limerick Senior Hurling Championship title, won in 1963.

Granagh (Irish: An Greanach, meaning 'gravely place') is a small village in County Limerick, Ireland. It is close to the village of Ballingarry and near the N20 road between Croom and Charleville. Granagh is a chapel village (a village that grew up around the church).The camogie team of Granagh-Ballingarry GAA club have won three All-Ireland club titles.

Charleville (Irish: Ráth Luirc or An Ráth) is a town in north County Cork, Ireland. It lies in the Golden Vale, on a tributary of the River Maigue, near the border with County Limerick. Charleville is on the N20 road and is the second-largest town between Limerick and Cork, the largest being Mallow. The Roman Catholic parish of Charleville is within the Diocese of Cloyne. Significant industries in the town include Kerry Co-Op and the construction and services sectors.
