Newmarket GO Station is a train station in the GO Transit network located in the Old Davis Tannery Centre on the north side of Davis Drive East in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, and is a stop on the Barrie line train service. It is a little over two kilometres east of the Newmarket Bus Terminal, at Davis Drive West and Eagle Street, which is a terminus for GO Bus, York Region Transit and Viva BRT services.

The Elman W. Campbell Museum is a museum in Newmarket, Ontario. Beginning with the first Quaker settlers in the early 1800s, the museum covers the history of Newmarket and the surrounding area, with a focus on local artifacts and their significance. It has several permanent exhibits, as well as space for temporary exhibits. Also available are community group programs for elementary school students and groups such as Scouts Canada.The museum is located at 134 Main Street South and is wheelchair accessible.

Huron Heights Secondary School is a public high school in the York Region District School Board which opened in 1962. Additions were added in 1965 and 1969. It is located in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada and serves students from the Newmarket and East Gwillimbury area. The name comes from the First Nation that inhabited the area and the height of land on which the school is located in the northwest part of the town. It also began to share the Newmarket-area enrichment program with Newmarket High School in 2000. The 2005 student population was approximately 1,850, in grades 9-12. The floor area is approximately 20 900 m².

Sacred Heart Catholic High School is a public Catholic high school in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. It is currently the only high school in Newmarket under the jurisdiction of the York Catholic District School Board. There were 1620 full-time registered students for the 2005/2006 year, 95 full-time staff members, and 24 support staff.

Pickering College is an independent, co-educational school for children in grades from Junior Kindergarten through grade 12. It is located in Newmarket, Ontario in Canada on a 17-hectare (42 acre) property on Bayview Avenue. The school accepts both day students and boarders (Grade 7 through Grade 12 only). Pickering College is the second oldest independent school in Ontario, behind Upper Canada College (UCC). However, Pickering's main building, Rogers House (built 1909), is older than UCC's current main building, which was condemned and rebuilt in 1960. Pickering College is also the site of the Quaker Archives and Library of Canada which are housed in the Arthur Garratt Dorland Reference Library.

CHOP-FM is a high school radio station that operates at 102.7 FM in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Owned by Pickering College, the station began broadcasting on September 28, 2007, after it was given approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) on February 1, 2007. The station was modelled after another high school radio station in the province called CKVI-FM located in Kingston, Ontario. On November 12, 2021, the CRTC issued a call for comments on market capacity to serve Newmarket, Ontario and call for applications to serve Newmarket. The station also submitted an application to increase CHOP-FM's effective radiated power (ERP) from 5 watts LP to 100 watts class A1.

Newmarket (2021 population 87,942) is a town and regional seat of the Regional Municipality of York in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is part of Greater Toronto in the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario. The name stems from the fact that the settlement was a "New Market", in contrast to York as the Old Market. The town was formed as one of many farming communities in the area, but also developed an industrial centre on the Northern Railway of Canada's mainline, which was built in 1853 through what would become the downtown area. It also became a thriving market town with the arrival of the Metropolitan Street Railway in 1899. Over time, the town developed into a primarily residential area, and the expansion of Ontario Highway 400 to the west and the construction of Ontario Highway 404 to the east increasingly turned it into a bedroom town since the 1980s. The province's Official Plan includes growth in the business services and knowledge industries, as well as in the administrative, manufacturing and retail sectors. Landmarks include Upper Canada Mall, Southlake Regional Health Centre, the Main Street Heritage Conservation District, and Wesley Brooks Conservation Area (locally called "Fairy Lake Park" or "Fairy Lake").

East Gwillimbury GO Station is a train and bus station in the GO Transit network located in East Gwillimbury, Ontario, Canada. It is a stop on the Barrie line train service. The station was opened on November 1, 2004.

The Newmarket Canal, officially known but rarely referred to as the Holland River Division, is an abandoned barge canal project in Newmarket, Ontario. With a total length of about 10 miles (16 km), it was supposed to connect the town to the Trent–Severn Waterway via the East Holland River and Lake Simcoe. Construction was almost complete when work was abandoned, and the three completed pound Locks, a swing bridge and a turning basin remain largely intact to this day. The project was originally presented as a way to avoid paying increasing rates on the Northern Railway of Canada, which threatened to make business in Newmarket uncompetitive. The economic arguments for the canal were highly debatable, as the exit of the Waterway in Trenton was over 170 kilometres (110 mi) east of Toronto, while Newmarket was only 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of the city. Moreover, predicted traffic was very low, perhaps 60 tons a day in total, enough to fill two or three barges at most. From the start, the real impetus for the project was a way to bring federal money to the riding of York North, which was held by powerful Liberal member William Mulock. That it was a patronage project was clear to all, and it was under constant attack in the press and the House of Commons. As construction started in 1908, measurements showed there was too little water to keep the system operating at a reasonable rate through the summer months. From then on it was heaped with scorn in the press and became the butt of jokes and nicknames, including "Mulock's Madness".The canal was one of the many examples of what the Conservative Party of Canada characterized as out-of-control spending on the part of the ruling Liberals. Their success in the 1911 federal election brought Robert Borden to power and changes at the top of the Department of Railways and Canals. They quickly placed a hold on ongoing construction, and a few weeks later, ended construction outright. Today, locals refer to it as "The Ghost Canal".

Mulock GO Station is a planned GO Transit train station to be built by Metrolinx in Newmarket, Ontario as a part of the approved GO Expansion program. It will be built on Mulock Drive, between Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue. The station is to have approximately 550 parking spaces. A kiss and ride and a bus loop will also be provided at the station. Metrolinx expects the daily ridership at the station to be 3,891 in 2031.The station was originally proposed in 2015, as part of a larger list of potential future station sites. On June 24, 2016, Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca announced that three new stations on the Barrie line corridor would be added as part of the RER plan: Kirby station in Vaughan, Mulock station in Newmarket, and Innisfil station in Innisfil. Metrolinx later approved the plan for the new stations on June 28, 2016.The Town of Newmarket also plans to create the Mulock Station Area Secondary Plan, a plan to provide development to the area around the future station. The Secondary Plan will provide places of residence, places of work, convenient connections to transportation, social services, and parks and outdoor areas in an approximate 79 hectares (195 acres) of area around the station site, with an estimated cost of C$240,000.

Newmarket High School is a secondary school located in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. It is one of four high schools in Newmarket under the jurisdiction of the York Region District School Board and currently educates approximately 1400 students from Grades 9 to 12. The phoenix and the Viking are the school's symbols and the school's colours are purple and gold.
