Hog Island (New York)

Island Park is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Long Beach Branch serving the residents of Island Park, Barnum Island, and Harbor Isle. The station can platform a 12-car train and is fully wheelchair accessible with ramps from street level. Parking facilities are also available. Southwest of the station the train crosses over Reynolds Channel. The station is located at the southern intersection of Long Beach Road and Austin Boulevard (Nassau County Routes 1A and 1, respectively), and is 23.7 miles (38.1 km) from Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan. The average commute time between Island Park and Penn Station is 45–50 minutes. The average commute time between Island Park and Jamaica is 25–30 minutes.

Island Park is a village located in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 4,655 at the 2010 census.

The Long Beach Bridge is a twin drawbridge crossing Reynolds Channel, connecting Long Beach and Island Park, New York. There is no toll. The bridge starts in Long Beach as Long Beach Boulevard. At Barnum Island, the main road continues northeast as Austin Boulevard, while Long Beach Road branches to the north. Each span carries traffic in one direction.

Long Beach Medical Center (formerly Long Beach Memorial Hospital) was a 403-bed teaching and community hospital located in Long Beach, New York. Long Beach Hospital was destroyed as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Hospital leaders are currently lobbying for state funds to rebuild the hospital. Nearby South Nassau Communities Hospital now operates a freestanding emergency department on the site of the former Long Beach Hospital. Wreck Lead was a train station along the Long Beach Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The station was opened in June 1888 by the New York and Long Beach Railroad to serve numerous fishing clubs and hotels. This station was a flag stop. Wreck Lead consisted of a low cinder platform on the northeast side of the Reynolds Channel (south of here, the railroad traverses the channel via the Wreck Lead Bridge). In 1911, a second platform was installed on the west side of the tracks and on January 15, 1927, and Wreck Lead became the terminus of the double-tracking of the Long Beach Branch. Wreck Lead closed on December 31, 1927.

Barnum Island is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 2,590 at the 2020 census. It occupies the eastern portion of an island situated between Long Island and Long Beach. That island, previously known in its entirety as Hog Island, consists entirely of the communities of Barnum Island, Island Park, and Harbor Island. Barnum Island is an unincorporated area of the Town of Hempstead. Most of Barnum Island is separated from the Village of Island Park by the LIRR's Long Beach Branch rail line to Long Beach. Barnum Island has its own fire district and school district, but is under contract with the Village of Island Park for fire and education services for its residents. Barnum Island is included in the Island Park School District and ZIP code (11558). The E.F. Barrett Power Station is located within the hamlet.

Harbor Isle is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 1,301 at the 2010 census.

Queenswater was a train station along the Long Beach Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It was located along Reynolds Channel and was used between 1898 and 1936 to serve numerous fishing clubs and hotels.

The Harriet Eisman Community School is an alternative high school located in Long Beach, New York, United States. Although this is an alternative high school, this school is registered with the New York State Education Department, therefore students who complete the necessary requirements will graduate with a High School Diploma.

US Post Office-Long Beach is a historic post office building located at Long Beach in Nassau County, New York, United States. It was built in 1936 and designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under the direction of Louis A. Simon. It is a one-story, symmetrically massed building faced with red brick in the Colonial Revival style. It features a central five bay wide section with a gable roof, flanked by single bay end pavilions with gable roofs perpendicular to the central section. The lobby features a Treasury Section of Fine Arts mural by Jon Corbino titled The Pleasures of the Bathing Beach (1939).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Granada Towers is a historic apartment building located at Long Beach in Nassau County, New York. It was designed in 1929 in the Spanish Revival style. It consists of three connected towers, each seven stories tall. It is built of orange-brown brick with terra cotta and stucco trim. The entry has terra cotta pilasters, with spindle shafts and composite capitals.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
