Bennettsbridge

Bennettsbridge is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The Bridge last won the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship in 1971 and have recently re-gained their senior status.

The Lavistown Loop Line provides an important function in transporting freight and timber liner trains on the Dublin–Waterford line. Before the loop was constructed, freight and timber liner trains would have to turn around at Kilkenny railway station to continue on to their destination in Sallypark, near Waterford. Approval for construction was given by Minister Brian Cowen on 2 December 1994. Non-passenger trains such as the "DFDS Freight Train" from Ballina–Waterford avoid Kilkenny by using the Lavistown Loop Line which joins both lines going to Kilkenny. The loop has allowed Irish Rail to run a daily morning limited stop service between Waterford and Heuston departing Waterford at 07.10 and arriving Heuston at 09.01.

Kilbline Castle is a fortified 16th century tower house in County Kilkenny in Ireland. It is set on the Kilbline Estate in the parish of Tullaherin, within the historical barony Gowran, approximately 1 mile southeast of Bennettsbridge. It is recorded as a protected (listed) structure by Kilkenny County Council.The tower house was originally owned by the Comerford family. It was forfeit to the crown by Thomas Comerford in 1566 "on his attainder for rebellion". By the early 18th century, the castle was in the possession of the Candler family, ancestors of Coca-Cola founder Asa Griggs Candler. It was later occupied by members of the Ryan family "for several generations", before passing to the Lannon/Lennon family in 1969. It remains in private ownership. Attached to the castle is a later two-story house, with a larger and more modern house in the grounds. It is roofed, with a low, two-storey, three-bay house with narrow windows and simple doorcase added. In the tower is a chimney-piece dated 1580 and a panelled room. Beside the house are early brick walls with blank arches.

Gowran Castle is located in the centre of Gowran, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The castle is a manor house and was fully restored between 2013 and 2014.

Kilfane (Irish: Cill Pháin) is a combination of two townlands located outside of Thomastown in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is made up of the townlands of Kilfane East and West with a total area of 75 acres (0.30 km2). Located in the barony of Gowran, Kilfane gives its name to the wider civil parish which contains 16 townlands. It is in the Roman Catholic parish of Tullaherin. This is also the site of the 13th-century Kilfane Church, now in ruins, which has an adjoining castellated presbytery or stone house. There are traces of the original consecration crosses to be seen, the ogee headed doorways, remains of the altar, sedilia and book rest. Inside the ruined church on the North Wall is the effigy of a Norman Knight in full armour. It is referred to as Cantwell Fada and this effigy is the tallest of its kind in Britain or Ireland.Kilfane House was the seat of the Power family who were responsible for the creation of Kilfane Glen and Waterfall which is now a tourist attraction containing a romantic era (Romanticism) garden and waterfall There is also a Gaelic Handball alley constructed in Kilfane quarry in the 1920s

Clara GAA (Irish: CLG Chláraigh) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the small parish of Clara in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Focused mainly on hurling and camogie, the dominant sports in the county, Clara's greatest achievements to date are victories in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship in 1986 2013, and in 2015 they secured their third title. Despite limited success at county level, Clara has produced several hurlers who have gone on play at inter-county level for Kilkenny. Jim Langton was born in the area, a winner of All-Ireland medals in 1939 and 1947, and a place on the GAA Hurling Team of the Century chosen in 1984. Paddy Prendergast was also a fixture in Kilkenny's defence in the 1970s and 1980s, winning three All-Ireland medals and three National Hurling League Medals. Harry Ryan played in the Kilkenny forward line in the 1980s, winning an All-Ireland medal in 1983. Lester Ryan is another all-Ireland winner, nephew of his namesake Lester Ryan who played with Kilkenny in the 1980s. Lester Ryan captained Kilkenny to All-Ireland Success in 2015. Shane Prendergast (son of Paddy Prendergast) was the captain of the Kilkenny Senior Team in 2016. Clara is the only team in the county to have players chosen on both the hurling and camogie teams of the century: Jim Langton, and Liz Neary who won seven All-Ireland camogie titles with Kilkenny.

Danesfort is a County Kilkenny based Gaelic Athletic Association club that competes in the Kilkenny Senior Championship. The club's grounds are located about 4 miles south of Kilkenny city on the Waterford Road. The club was founded in 1922 and incorporates a broad area south of Kilkenny city, encompassing Danesfort itself as well as Burnchurch, Cuffesgrange and part of Kells. The club borders rival clubs Bennetsbridge to the east, Graigue-Ballycallan to the west, Carrickshock and Dunnamaggin to the south and city club James Stephens to the north. Current Chairman of the Club is Finbarr Kelly. Other important Club delegates include Secretary Michael J Moylan, Treasurer Helen Devane and PRO Ursula Mahony.

County Kilkenny (Irish: Contae Chill Chainnigh) is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Leinster and is part of the South-East Region. It is named after the city of Kilkenny. Kilkenny County Council is the local authority for the county. As of the 2016 census the population of the county was 99,232. The county was based on the historic Gaelic kingdom of Ossory (Osraighe), which was coterminous with the Diocese of Ossory.
