Na Piarsaigh (Irish pronunciation: [n̪ˠə ˈpʲiəɾˠsˠiː]) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated on the north side of Limerick City, Ireland. It was founded in 1968. Following their 1–15 to 3–11 victory in the 2014 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship over St Senan's, Na Piarsaigh are one of three dual senior club in hurling and Gaelic football in Limerick. The club currently field five adult teams three in hurling (senior, Intermediate & Junior) and two in football (Senior & Junior), the most of any club in Limerick. In 2011, Na Piarsaigh won their first ever Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. In November 2015, Na Piarsaigh won their third Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship after a 2–18 to 2–11 win against Ballygunner in the final. On St Patrick's Day, 2016 Na Piarsaigh won their first ever All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship beating Ruairí Óg, Cushendall 2–25 to 2–14 in Croke Park, becoming the first ever Limerick club to do so. In November 2016 Na Piarsaigh won the Limerick Junior 'A' County Hurling Championship beating fellow city club St Patrick's 1–16 to 1–12, earning promotion to the Limerick Intermediate Hurling Championship for 2017 and becoming the only club in Limerick to field teams in both the Senior & Intermediate County Hurling Championships.

The Gaelic Grounds, know for sponsorshop reasons as the TUS Gaelic Grounds, is the principal GAA stadium in the Irish city of Limerick, home to the Limerick hurling and football teams. It has a capacity of 44,023.

The River Shannon (Irish: Abhainn na Sionainne, an tSionainn, an tSionna), at 360.5 km (224 miles) in length, is the longest river in the British Isles It drains the Shannon River Basin, which has an area of 16,865 km2 (6,512 sq mi), - one fifth of the area of the island. The Shannon divides the west of Ireland (principally the province of Connacht) from the east and south (Leinster and most of Munster). (County Clare, being west of the Shannon but part of the province of Munster, is the major exception.) The river represents a major physical barrier between east and west, with fewer than thirty-five crossing-points between Limerick city in the south and the village of Dowra in the north. The river takes its name after Sionna, a Celtic goddess.Known as an important waterway since antiquity, the Shannon first appeared in maps by the Graeco-Egyptian geographer Ptolemy (c. 100 – c. 170 AD). The river flows generally southwards from the Shannon Pot in County Cavan before turning west and emptying into the Atlantic Ocean through the 102.1 km (63.4 mi) long Shannon Estuary. Limerick city stands at the point where the river water meets the sea water of the estuary. The Shannon is tidal east of Limerick as far as the base of the Ardnacrusha dam.

The North Liberties (Irish: Na Líbeartaí Thuaidh) or North Liberties of Limerick is a barony of County Limerick in Ireland, on the north bank of the River Shannon, between the centre of Limerick City to the east and County Clare to the north and west. It comprises parts of 17 townlands in three civil parishes: Killeely, St. Munchin's, and St. Nicholas. The area of the North Liberties was originally part of Bunratty barony, now in County Clare. It was created by King John in 1216 and granted to the City of Limerick. The 1609 royal charter from James I of England for the municipal corporation of Limerick granted it portions of rural land outside the municipal borough, and erected the whole area into a corporate county, the "county of the city of Limerick", separate from the "county-at-large" of Limerick, and with its own sheriff and grand jury. The rural areas, called the "liberties", were inside the county of the city but outside the borough boundary. There were three parts to the liberties: the small "North Liberties", the larger "South Liberties" east of the borough on the opposite bank of the River Shannon, and Scattery Island far to the west at the Mouth of the Shannon. In the 1650s, after the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland, the North Liberties were included in the Civil Survey but not the Down Survey, whose supervisor William Petty was himself awarded the lands. The Municipal Corporations (Ireland) Act 1840 detached all the liberties from the county of the city and attached them to the county-at-large. The majority of the North Liberties was therefore annexed to the County of Clare. The 1846 Parliamentary Gazetteer and the census through to 1871 regarded the North Liberties as having been annexed to the barony of Pubblebrien, the rest of which was adjacent but south across the Shannon. However, the 1881 census treated the North Liberties as a barony in its own right. A 2008 extension to the boundary of Limerick city encompasses some of the entire area of the North Liberties, however some still remains within the County of Clare.

The Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT; Irish: Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Luimnigh) is a constituent institute of the Technological University of the Shannon, located in Limerick, Ireland. The institute has campuses in Limerick, and in both Thurles and Clonmel in County Tipperary, as well as a regional learning centre in Ennis, County Clare. The main campus is located at Moylish Park adjacent to Thomond Park and houses the Faculty of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology and the School of Business and Humanities. The School of Art & Design is located at the Clare Street and Clonmel campuses. LIT offers courses at level 6 (certificate) through to level 10 (PhD) whilst also catering for craft apprentices and adult and continuing education. The institute has twice been named as The Sunday Times Institute of Technology of the Year in The Sunday Times University Guide, firstly in 2008 and again in 2013.On 23 November 2020, the AIT-LIT Consortium announced that the joint Limerick-Athlone IT application for Technological University status had been submitted for government approval. The objective was to establish a new technical university for central and midwestern Ireland / Technological University of Central & Midwestern Ireland, with a target opening date of 1 September 2021. The new TU, was approved in May 2021 and began operations in October 2021.

The Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD; Irish: Scoil Ealaíne Agus Deartha Luimnigh) is a constituent art college of the Technological University of the Shannon, located in Limerick, Ireland. The school operates on three of TUS: Midwest's campuses, Clare Street and George's Quay in Limerick city, and Clonmel in County Tipperary. The school can trace its origins back to 1852, and has had a number of guises and locations before consolidating into its current format and campuses in the 1980s and 1990s. LSAD offers courses at level 8 (honours degree) and level 9 (master's degree) across a range of art and design disciplines.

Moyross (Irish: Maigh Rois) is a suburb and council estate in Limerick city in Ireland. Moyross is located on the city's north side and is the largest housing estate in Limerick.The Roman Catholic parish of Moyross is one of 60 parishes in the Diocese of Limerick. As of the 2011 census, there were 2,183 people living in Moyross parish.

Thomond Park is a stadium in Limerick in the Irish province of Munster. The stadium is owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union and has Munster Rugby, Shannon RFC and UL Bohemian RFC as tenants. Limerick FC played home games in Thomond Park from 2013 to 2015 in the League of Ireland while the Markets Field was being redeveloped. The capacity of the stadium is 25,600 following its large-scale redevelopment in 2008.

Coonagh (Irish: Cuanach, meaning 'winding, abounding in hollows, estuary') is an area, comprising the townlands of: Coonagh West (aka "Upper Coonagh", "the village", or "Faha", typically meaning "exercise green" in Irish) Coonagh East (aka "Lower Coonagh")Coonagh is situated at the north-western corner of County Limerick in Ireland on the banks of the River Shannon near the border with County Clare, and in fact was at one point in history situated within County Limerick, prior to a boundary extension that saw it transfer to Limerick (the area was transferred from Limerick to the city of Limerick in 2008). It is part of the Catholic parish Parteen-Meelick-Coonagh in the diocese of Limerick, with several generations of Coonagh families having attended Meelick National School (Scoil Mhuire Miliuc), Co. Clare. In 1111 AD, Parteen, Meelick and Coonagh were assigned to the Diocese of Limerick at the Synod of Ráth Breasail when the boundaries of the dioceses were drawn up. The Tithe Applotments of Co. Clare also indicate that Coonagh was part of the parish of Killeely in 1833.
