The Saluda Dam or Saluda River Dam, officially the Dreher Shoals Dam, commonly referred to as the Lake Murray Dam, is an earthen embankment dam located approximately 10 miles (15 km) west of Columbia, South Carolina on the Saluda River. Construction on the dam began in 1927 and was completed in 1930. The purpose of the dam is flood control, hydroelectricity, recreation and water supply. At the time of its completion, the Saluda Dam was the world's largest earthen dam, creating the world's largest man-made lake, Lake Murray. In 2005, construction on a 213 ft (65 m). tall roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dam was completed at the toe of the original dam in order to mitigate an earthquake-caused dam failure. South Carolina Highway 6 crosses over the dam and is used as a fast connection between the towns of Lexington and Irmo. The yearly football game between rival Lexington High School and Irmo High School is often called "The Battle of the Dam".

The Dutch Fork is a region of South Carolina located in Lexington, Newberry, and Richland Counties between the Saluda River and the Broad River where they fork together, forming the Congaree River. The area is named after the original German settlers of the area, and like the Pennsylvania Dutch, Dutch here is an Anglicization of the term deutsch (which means German in the German language). Initial settlement of the area was largely between 1730 and 1766 when the South Carolina government offered incentives for foreign Protestants to settle what was then the backcountry.

John Jacob Calhoun Koon Farmstead is a historic home and farm located near Ballentine, Richland County, South Carolina, USA. The house was built in about 1890, and is a two-story farmhouse with a two-tiered Victorian influenced wraparound porch. It has a one-story, gable roofed frame rear addition. Also on the property are the contributing frame grain barn (c. 1920), a frame cotton house (c. 1900), a frame workshop/toolhouse (c. 1900), a late-19th century shed, a planing shed (c. 1920) and a sawmill (c. 1928).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

John Solomon Hendrix House, also known as the Sol Hendrix House, is a historic home located near Lexington, Lexington County, South Carolina. It was built about 1850, and is a two-story, rectangular, weatherboarded frame farmhouse. It has a gable roof and exterior end chimneys. Ernest L. Hazelius House is a historic home located at Lexington, Lexington County, South Carolina. It was built about 1830, and is a one-story, rectangular frame dwelling with a hall and parlor plan and four small bedrooms across the rear. It was the home of Ernest L. Hazelius, a clergyman of the Lutheran Church, academician, philosopher, author, and educator. The house was also the location where the traveling evangelist Charlie Tillman wrote down the song "Give Me that Old Time Religion" after hearing African-American citizens singing it. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and became a part of the Lexington County Museum in 1974, where it serves as the museum's tour office.

William Berly House is a historic home located at Lexington, Lexington County, South Carolina. It was built by 1832, and is a two-story, clapboard dwelling. It features a one-story porch supported by four square columns. The house originally was in the dogtrot form. It has a one-story wing attached to the main house by an enclosed breezeways around 1900. Also on the property is a contributing former ice house. It was the home of Reverend William Berly, a leading religious and educational figure in area Lutheranism during the mid-19th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
