Uffculme School

Uffculme (, UF-kəm) is a village and civil parish located in the Mid Devon district, of Devon, England. Situated in the Blackdown Hills on the B3440, close to the M5 motorway and the Bristol–Exeter railway line, near Cullompton, Uffculme is on the upper reaches of the River Culm. The population of the parish, according to a 2020 estimate, is 3,090. It is surrounded, clockwise from the north, by the parishes of Culmstock, Hemyock, Sheldon, Kentisbeare, Cullompton, Willand, Halberton and Burlescombe.

The Church of St Mary the Virgin is the main Church of England parish church for the village of Uffculme, Devon, England. First mentioned in a charter dating back to 1136, the present church has a mixture of medieval and Victorian architecture and is a Grade II* listed building. The church building is notable for its rood screen, the longest and oldest in the county, as well as its tall broach spire, a rare feature on churches in Devon.

Coldharbour Mill, near the village of Uffculme in Devon, England, is one of the oldest woollen textile mills in the world, having been in continuous production since 1797. The mill was one of a number owned by Fox Brothers, and is designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building.

Coldharbour Halt railway station was a small station from 1929 to 1963 on the Culm Valley Light Railway.

Uffculme railway station was the station closest to the centre of the Culm Valley Light Railway in Devon and as such contained the passing loop. The line ran approximately 9 miles from the Bristol to Penzance main line at Tiverton Junction to Hemyock on the Somerset border. Since closure the station area has been totally redeveloped.

Appledore is a small village near Uffculme in Devon, England, about 7 miles (11 kilometres) east of Tiverton.Appledore was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086.

Tiverton Parkway railway station is on the Bristol to Exeter line in Devon, England. Despite being named after the town of Tiverton, it is actually located a short distance from the village of Sampford Peverell, 6 miles (9.7 km) to the east of Tiverton, and close to the junction of the M5 motorway with the A361 North Devon link road. It is 177 miles (285 km) from the zero point at London Paddington via Bristol Temple Meads. The station is operated by Great Western Railway and is also served by CrossCountry trains.

Ayshford is a hamlet and historic manor in the parish of Burlescombe in the district of Mid-Devon, Devon, England. It was anciently the seat of the de Ayshford family. Ayshford Chapel is a grade I listed 15th century chapel of the Ayshford family.

Ayshford Chapel is a former private chapel in the village of Ayshford, in the parish of Burlescombe, Devon, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Friends of Friendless Churches. It is situated immediately to the south of the manor house of Ayshford Court, and to the north of the Grand Western Canal.

Bradfield House is a Grade I listed country house situated in the parish of Uffculme, Devon, England, 2 miles (3.2 km) south-west of the village of Uffculme. It is one of the largest mansions in Devon, having been substantially enlarged in about 1860 by Sir John Walrond Walrond, 1st Baronet (1818–1889), to the design of the architect John Hayward, and incorporates within the Victorian structure the original mediaeval great hall, one of the largest, most ornate and best preserved in the county.

Holbrook Garden is a one hectare garden outside Sampford Peverell, Tiverton, Devon, with experimental naturalistic plantings creating differing habitats. The plantings draw on the German approach to naturalism but strongly influenced by wild plant populations and species. It is considered by the garden writer Noel Kingsbury to be, "One of the best examples of ‘New Perennial’ planting in Britain". The garden formerly held the UK national collection of the genus Helenium.

Ashill is a village located in the parish of Uffculme, in the English county of Devon. It has a small church, a community village hall and small public house. In the early 20th Century it had one or two shops, plus beer and cider houses. Later came a small garage with petrol pump, and a post office. None of these now survive. Towards the end of the century the character of the village changed, moving from a predominantly farming community to more of a residential character, with several new homes and a mini-estate and starter-home development built during the 1980s and 1990s. Nevertheless, a few historic farms remain active into the early 21st century, along with the more recently arrived alpaca breeders. St. Stephen's Church is part of the parish of St. Mary's, Uffculme. Ashill Inn was built in 1835. One of the more visible features is a 3-storey Victorian red-brick dwelling at the lower end of the village. Legend has it that it began life as a 2-storey building (which would have been rather more in keeping with the character of the rest of the village), but during its construction the woman to whom the new owner was betrothed left him, and in order to win her back the man tried to impress her by commissioning an extra storey to his new home, thus assuring her of a greater status as the wife of a 'property owner'. As the story goes, he was unsuccessful in this, and she never returned to him. Ashill lies approximately two miles from Uffculme and Kentisbeare. It was soul/R&B singer Joss Stone's teenage home (specifically, the hamlet of Rull, approximately half a mile away).
