Chittlehampton is a village and civil parish in the North Devon district of Devon, England, about 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Barnstaple. At the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 820.The parish originally had two exclaves; Chittlehamholt to the south (now a parish in itself), and part of the modern parish of East and West Buckland. It now includes Chittlehampton, Umberleigh, Furze, Stowford and some other outlying hamlets. The parish is surrounded clockwise from the north by the parishes of Swimbridge, Filleigh, South Molton, Satterleigh and Warkleigh, High Bickington, Atherington, and Bishop's Tawton.The village was the site of limestone quarries which supplied many of the county's lime kilns.

Satterleigh and Warkleigh is a civil parish in North Devon district, Devon, England. In the 2011 census it was recorded as having a population of 170.

Filleigh is a small village, civil parish and former manor in North Devon, on the southern edge of Exmoor, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) west of South Molton. The village centre's street was, until the 1980s opening of the North Devon Link Road, the main highway between the North Devon administrative centre of Barnstaple and South Molton, leading westwards to Taunton. Much of the village's land is contained within grade I listed park and garden, Castle Hill, which straddles both sides of the Link Road providing a glimpse of some of it.

St Peter's Church in Satterleigh, Devon, England was built in the 15th century. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is now a redundant church in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It was vested in the Trust on 19 March 1996.The church is mainly 15th century, although it may incorporate parts of an earlier building. It has an aisleless nave, and a wooden bell-cote. The chancel was rebuilt in 1852 as part of a wider restoration.

In the 2011 census it was recorded as having a population of 169.The neighbouring parishes are Satterleigh and Warkleigh to the north, King's Nympton to the east, Chulmleigh to the south east, Burrington to the south, and High Bickington in Torridge district to the west. The River Taw forms the southern and western boundary of the parish, and the A377 road from Barnstaple to Exeter skirts the parish on the far side of the river. A combined parish council serves Chittlehamholt and the neighbouring parish as the Chittlehamholt, Satterleigh and Warkleigh Parish Council.There are 26 listed buildings in the parish, all at Grade II. They include two bridges, the church of St John Baptist, a Gospel Hall, Chittlehamholt Manor, the Exeter Inn (a 16th-century coaching inn) and houses and farm buildings.The hamlet of Chittlehamholt was originally a clearing in woods where residents of Chittlehampton collected logs. Until 1875 it was part of Chittlehampton.The parish church of St John the Baptist is part of the South Molton Mission Community within the Diocese of Exeter.

The River Bray is a small river in North Devon, England. It is a tributary of the River Mole, which in turn is a tributary of the River Taw. It rises in Exmoor, near the border with Somerset.

Castle Hill in the parish of Filleigh in North Devon, is an early Neo-Palladian country house situated 3 miles (5 kilometres) north-west of South Molton and 8 mi (13 km) south-east of Barnstaple. It was built in 1730 by Hugh Fortescue, 14th Baron Clinton (1696–1751), who was later created in 1751 1st Baron Fortescue and 1st Earl of Clinton, the son of Hugh Fortescue (died 1719), lord of the manor of Filleigh, Weare Giffard, etc., whose family is earliest recorded as residing in the 12th century at the manor of Whympston in the parish of Modbury in South Devon. The Fortescue family became major land owners, influential in British and West Country history. Castle Hill is a rare example in Devon of an 18th-century country mansion "on the grand scale".The house was substantially reconstructed following a disastrous fire in 1934. It was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1967. The park and gardens are Grade I listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. Today the property is leased by Eleanor, Countess of Arran (born 1949), the granddaughter of Hugh Fortescue, 5th Earl Fortescue (1888–1958).

Portsmouth Arms railway station is a small wayside station in Devon. It is in the parish of Burrington but remote from any village so is named after the nearby 'Portsmouth Arms' pub. It is on the Tarka Line to Barnstaple, 29 miles 8 chains (46.8 km) from Exeter Central at milepost 200.5 from London Waterloo.

King's Nympton (Latinised to Nymet Regis) is a village, parish and former manor in the North Devon district, in Devon, England, in the heart of the rolling countryside between Exmoor and Dartmoor, some 4½ miles (7 km) S.S.W. of South Molton and 4 miles (6 km) N. of Chulmleigh. The parish exceeds 5,500 acres (2,226 ha) in area and sits mostly on a promontory above the River Mole (anciently the Nymet) which forms nearly half of its parish boundary. In 2021 the parish had a population of 444. Many of the outlying farmhouses date from the 15th and 16th centuries and the village has cottages and a pub, with thatched roofs. Nearly all of its 5,540 acres are given over to agriculture with beef, sheep, dairy, arable and egg production forming the bulk of farming activity.

Swimbridge (historical spelling: Swymbridge) is a village, parish and former manor in Devon, England. It is situated 4 miles (6.4 km) south-east of Barnstaple and twinned with the town of St.Honorine Du Fay in Normandy, France. It was the home of the Rev. John "Jack" Russell who first bred the Jack Russell Terrier.
