Pentir

The Aber Dinlle Fault is a SW-NE trending fault in North Wales. It forms part of the Menai Strait Fault System, with the Berw and Dinorwic Faults. It lies close to the epicentre of the 1984 Llŷn Peninsula earthquake, although it is not thought to have been responsible for that event. The fault was active during deposition of Ordovician rocks in the Welsh Basin. It was reactivated as a normal fault in the Carboniferous with a downthrow to the northwest and again reactivated as a reverse fault during Late Carboniferous inversion associated with the Variscan Orogeny.

Glasinfryn is a small village in Gwynedd, Wales. It is situated between the village of Tregarth and the city of Bangor, Gwynedd, and in the community of Pentir. The village is residential in nature but with many outlying farms. It is noted for having two bridges: one carries the old Bethesda to Bangor railway trackbed on an attractive Victorian architecture viaduct; the other is a concrete flyover built in the 1980s carrying the A55. It is credited as the start of the A4244 road, but in reality the road lies approximately 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) south of the village. "Infryn" means turf, therefore the name of the village means literally "blue/green turf".

Felin Hen Halt railway station was a station in Glasinfryn, Gwynedd, Wales on the Bethesda branch line. The station was opened on 1 July 1884 and closed on 3 December 1951.

Clwt-y-bont is a village in Gwynedd, Wales, lying just to the south of Deiniolen. The two villages form one urban unit. Both were built in the early 19th century to house workers in the Dinorwig slate quarry, and both suffered when the quarry was closed in 1969.

Hendre is one of eight electoral wards in the city of Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales. The ward covers part of the city south of the city centre, including West End and Glan Adda. It elects two councillors to Bangor City Council and one county councillor to Gwynedd Council. The ward population, according to the 2011 Census, was 1,496.

Deiniolen (; Welsh: [dɛinɪˈɔlɛn]; Welsh pronunciation) is a village in Gwynedd, Wales, at the foot of Elidir Fawr, in Llanddeiniolen Community. Deiniolen has views over Caernarfon (7 miles away) and on a clear day, Holyhead Mountain and occasionally the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland, can be seen. The population of the electoral ward was 1,909 as of 2011, including nearby Dinorwig, with 81.2% of the population speaking Welsh. The community, Llanddeiniolen, has a population of 5,072 as of the 2011 census, the third-largest in Gwynedd. Ysgol Gynradd Gwaun Gynfi provides Welsh-medium education for children between 3 and 11 years in the village. The slate industry was an important employer in Deiniolen until the closure of Dinorwig Quarry in 1969.

Ysbyty Gwynedd (English: Gwynedd Hospital) is a district general hospital in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales. It is managed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Llanddeiniolen (Welsh: [ɬanðɛinɪˈɔlɛn]; Welsh pronunciation) is the name of a community area, in the county of Gwynedd, Wales, and is 124 miles (200 km) from Cardiff and 206 miles (332 km) from London. It comprises the hamlet also called Llanddeiniolen, and the villages of Deiniolen, Bethel, Dinorwig, Rhiwlas, Brynrefail and Penisarwaun. It is the third-largest community by population in Gwynedd, with 5072 people in the 2011 census. Also in the community is the dispersed settlement of Fachwen, located on the north shore of Llyn Padarn. The name derives from the Welsh saint Deiniol (died 584).

Ysgol Tryfan is a bilingual (Welsh - English) comprehensive school for pupils aged 11–18, situated in Bangor, Gwynedd. 471 pupils were enrolled at the school in 2022.The majority of pupils live in Bangor, with a large proportion coming from the surrounding towns and villages, including Llanfairfechan, Bethesda, Y Felinheli and Menai Bridge. The school shares the same catchment area of primary schools as Ysgol Friars. On average, around 34% of pupils from primary schools situated in Bangor transfer to Ysgol Tryfan.Welsh is the school's administrative and official language. According to the latest Estyn inspection report carried out in 2019, 64% of pupils come from Welsh-speaking homes. As of 2015, 72% of pupils aged 11–15 were fluent in Welsh. According to the Welsh Government, Ysgol Tryfan was ranked 47th out of 207 in 2019.

Bangor railway station serves the city of Bangor, Gwynedd; it is operated by Transport for Wales. The station, which is 24+3⁄4 miles (40 km) east of Holyhead, is the last mainland station on the North Wales Coast line between Crewe and Holyhead. It is the busiest in terms of passenger numbers in North Wales, as it serves the community around Caernarfon and further west. It is close to the Snowdonia National Park and Bangor University, and has an interchange with bus services to the various towns and villages of north-west Gwynedd and Anglesey.
