The Supreme Court of Iceland (Icelandic: Hæstiréttur Íslands, lit. Highest Court of Iceland) is the final court of appeal in the judiciary of Iceland. It is also the oldest of the current courts of law in Iceland and the highest of the three Icelandic court branches, the others being the District Courts of Iceland and the Court of Appeal (Landsréttur). Notwithstanding the Court not being mentioned by name in the Constitution of Iceland, but only its justices, it is validated in the Courts Act No. 50/2016. The Supreme Court of Iceland is located at the Dómhúsið (Courthouse) at Arnarhóll in Reykjavík, a building that was specially built for that purpose and that came into use in 1996. The current President of the court is Benedikt Bogason.

The Icelandic Ministry of Finance (Icelandic: Fjármálaráðuneytið) is responsible for overseeing the finances of the Icelandic government. The Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs is Bjarni Benediktsson.

The Icelandic Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism (Icelandic: Iðnaðarráðuneytið) is one of the cabinet-level government ministries responsible for Iceland's economy. It shares that responsibility with the Ministry of Business Affairs (responsible for banking and trade) and the Ministry of Fisheries (fishing making up some 40% of Iceland's exports). Since 2009, the responsible minister is Katrín Júlíusdóttir of the Social Democratic Alliance.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (Icelandic: Mennta- og menningarmálaráðuneytið) is an Icelandic cabinet-level ministry founded 16 December 1942. The ministry is divided into three departments and four offices. The current Minister of Education, Science and Culture is Lilja Dögg Alfreðsdóttir.

The Central Bank of Iceland (Icelandic: Seðlabanki Íslands) is the central bank or reserve bank of Iceland. It has served in this capacity since 1961, when it was created by an act of the Alþingi out of the central banking department of Landsbanki Íslands, which had the sole right of note issuance since 1927 and had conducted only limited monetary policy. Seðlabanki Íslands is owned by the Icelandic government, and is administered by a governor and a seven-member supervisory board, elected by the country's parliament following each general election. It has the sole right to issue notes and coins of Icelandic krónur and to manage the state's foreign currency reserves. The Central Bank Act of 1986 eliminated the ability of the Central Bank to regulate the interest rates of commercial banks and savings banks. Though nominally independent, the Central Bank of Iceland was historically expected to follow the lead of the central government. In 2001, however, a floating exchange rate policy was introduced and since then the Central Bank has been empowered to adopt an inflation target and manage monetary policy so as to achieve price stability independent of the policies of the central government.

The Icelandic Ministry of Business Affairs (Icelandic: Viðskiptaráðuneytið), also translated as the Ministry of Commerce or Ministry of Trade, is a government ministry established on 24 May 2007, when it was split off from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The ministry is responsible for company law, competition law, financial services, insurance and trade (both domestic and internal). Its first minister was Björgvin G. Sigurðsson of the Social Democratic Alliance. He tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde on 25 January 2009 to take partial responsibility for the 2008–2012 Icelandic financial crisis. Björgvin was replaced on 1 February by Gylfi Magnússon, a professor of economics at the University of Iceland without party political affiliation.

Arnarhóll (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈa(r)tnarˌhoutl̥]) is a hill next to the centre of Reykjavík, Iceland's capital city. It is named after Iceland's bequeathed first settler, Ingólfur Arnarson. Icelandic ministries are situated near it and events take place on it.

Hegningarhúsið (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈhɛkniŋkarˌhuːsɪθ], "The Penalty House") at Skólavörðustígur 9 in Reykjavík was a prison run by the Icelandic Prison Service. Built in 1872 by the designs of G. Ch. W. Klentz, it was the oldest prison in Iceland. All operations in Hegningarhúsið ceased on 1 June 2016. The origins of the Icelandic phrase "going to the stone" (fara í steininn) is purportedly due to the stone interiors of this prison.It was last used as a reception prison, where prisoners stayed for a short period of time when at the beginning of serving a sentence. The house was designated as historic property in 1978.There were 16 prison cells in Hegningarhúsið, small and narrow with poor ventilation. The cells were without toilets and sinks.

The Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources (Icelandic: Umhverfis- og auðlindaráðuneytið) is an Icelandic cabinet-level ministry founded 23 February 1990. It was originally called the Ministry for the Environment but was renamed to its current name on 1 September 2012. The Ministry oversees a wide range of matters as they relate to the environment, including nature conservation, wildlife protection, forest protection and revegitation efforts, environmental impact assessment and land use planning, pollution control and environmental health, fire prevention, meteorology, and mapping, including surveying and remote sensing. The current Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources is Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson.

Harpa (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈhar̥pa]) is a concert hall and conference centre in Reykjavík, Iceland. The opening concert was held on May 4, 2011. The building features a distinctive colored glass facade inspired by the basalt landscape of Iceland.

The Icelandic Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture (Icelandic: Sjávarútvegs- og Landbúnaðarráðuneytið) is a cabinet-level ministry. It is an important economic ministry, with fisheries products making up about 40% of Iceland's exports.

The Cabinet of Iceland (Icelandic: Stjórnarráð Íslands) is the collective decision-making body of the government of Iceland, composed of the Prime Minister and the cabinet ministers.
