The Westchester Avenue station is a former railroad station located in the Bronx in New York City, partially suspended over Amtrak's busy Northeast Corridor line. It was built in 1908 with rich terra cotta detailing to a design by Cass Gilbert, who would later employ similar terra cotta detailing in his 1910 design for the Woolworth Building. Train service to the station ceased in 1937, and as of 2022 the station was a ruin in poor condition. The Westchester Avenue station is located just to the southeast of the intersection of Westchester Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, in the Morrisania section of the South Bronx. The Bronx River is a short distance to the east. The structure consists of a taller entry hall portion that stands on solid ground immediately to the west of the tracks, and a shorter waiting room section that is suspended over the tracks on metal beams. Formerly, this section had staircases that led down to low platforms at track level, but these were removed long ago. The entry hall portion has colorful glazed architectural terra cotta ornamentation, including a caduceus near the eaves, topped with the letters NYH. Though this seems to refer to the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, the original builder of the station, the caduceus was also the symbol of the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway, a local commuter railroad that also served the station.

The Whitlock Avenue station is a local station on the IRT Pelham Line of the New York City Subway. It is served by the 6 train at all times and is located at Whitlock Avenue and Westchester Avenue in the Bronx.

In the early hours of February 4, 1999, an unarmed 23-year-old Guinean student named Amadou Diallo (born September 2, 1975) was fired upon with 41 rounds and shot a total of 19 times by four New York City Police Department plainclothes officers: Sean Carroll, Richard Murphy, Edward McMellon, and Kenneth Boss. Carroll later claimed to have mistaken Diallo for a rape suspect from one year earlier. The four officers, who were part of the now-defunct Street Crime Unit, were charged with second-degree murder and acquitted at trial in Albany, New York. A firestorm of controversy erupted after the event, as the circumstances of the shooting prompted outrage both inside and outside of New York City. Issues such as police brutality, racial profiling, and contagious shooting were central to the ensuing controversy.

New York's 15th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives located in New York City, State of New York. The district has been represented by Democrat Ritchie Torres since 2021. The 15th district is located entirely within the Bronx, namely the southern portion of the West Bronx as well as the South Bronx. Latinos make up the majority of the district's population, followed by Black people. Whites, Asians and other racial groups comprise a small minority. Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Zoo are both located within the district. From 2003 to 2013 it was composed of Upper Manhattan, Rikers Island and a largely non-residential section of northwestern Queens on the shore of the East River mostly occupied by a Consolidated Edison facility and a New York Power Authority power plant. The district included the neighborhoods of Harlem, Inwood, Marble Hill, Spanish Harlem, Washington Heights, Morningside Heights, and portions of the Manhattan that included Apollo Theater, Columbia University, and Grant's Tomb. Much of that district is now the 13th district, while the current 15th is essentially the successor of the former 16th district. Scoring a Cook Partisan Voting Index of D+44 in 2014 rendered the district the most Democratic in the nation. U.S. Senator John Kerry won 90% of the vote in the 15th congressional district in 2004. In 2012, this was the district scoring the highest percentage of local votes to President Barack Obama: 96.7%. Likewise in 2016, Hillary Clinton received 93.8% of local votes.

Hunts Point station is a planned passenger rail station on the New Haven Line of the Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line, to be located in Hunts Point, Bronx. The station is planned to open in 2027 as part of the Penn Station Access project, which will add four stations in The Bronx. The station will be located north of Hunts Point Avenue, behind the former New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad station, which was designed by Cass Gilbert.A 63-month design-build contract for the project was issued in December 2021.

The Simpson Street station is a local station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Simpson Street and Westchester Avenue in the Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx, it is served by the 2 train at all times, and the 5 train at all times except late nights and rush hours in the peak direction.

The Hunts Point Avenue station is an express station on the IRT Pelham Line of the New York City Subway, served by the 6 train at all times and the <6> train on weekdays in the peak direction. It is located at Hunts Point Avenue and Southern Boulevard in the Longwood neighborhood in the Bronx. This station opened in 1919 as part of the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT)'s Pelham Line. The line was constructed as part of an agreement between New York City and two private transit operators to expand transit service across the city known as the Dual Contracts. The station exclusively served local trains until 1946, when rush-hour express service began. The Hunts Point Avenue station was renovated to become compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 in 2014.

Sunnyslope is a historic home located in Hunts Point in the South Bronx in New York City. It was built about 1860 by Peter Hoe, brother of Richard March Hoe, on their family estate. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Gothic Revival–style house built in the Picturesque mode. In 1919 it was sold to Temple Beth Elohim and later became home to an African Methodist Episcopal congregation.It was listed as a New York City Landmark in 1981, and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It later became home to Bright Temple A.M.E. Church.

Hunts Point Riverside Park is a riverside park located in the Hunts Point neighborhood in the South Bronx section of New York City. It is the first new riverside park to be built in the area in over sixty years, and is the first of a planned series of parks to be linked by a bike route to create the South Bronx Greenway.Ground was broken July 19, 2004, on a US$ 3.2 million project to convert a vacant lot used as an illegal dumping ground into a 1.4-acre (5,700 m2) park.Before the planned park project, the site was an abandoned lot that was once part of a defunct Robert Moses era bridge project. The POINT Community Development Corporation's Majora Carter spearheaded the development of this park. Hunts Point Riverside Park was the 2009 Silver Medalist of the Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence

Chevra Linas Hazedek Synagogue of Harlem and the Bronx was a synagogue located at 1115 Ward Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. The building was constructed between 1928 and 1932, and is a three-story, vernacular Romanesque Revival style. It has a plastic slate roof and yellow brick front façade with red brick and cast-stone accents. The front facade features a set of seven round-arch lancet stained-glass windows separated by wreathed cast-stone columns. In 1979, the synagogue sold the building to the Green Pasture Baptist Church, which has occupied the building since then.: 5 The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
