Barrie is a city in Central Ontario, Canada, about 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay. Although it is physically in the county, Barrie is politically independent. The city is part of the extended urban area in southern Ontario known as the Greater Golden Horseshoe. As of the 2021 census, the city's population was 147,829, while the census metropolitan area had a population of 212,667 residents. The area was first settled during the War of 1812 as a supply depot for British forces, and Barrie was named after Sir Robert Barrie. The city has grown significantly in recent decades due to the emergence of the technology industry. It is connected to the Greater Golden Horseshoe by Ontario Highway 400 and GO Transit. Significant sectors of the city's diversified economy include education, healthcare, information technology and manufacturing.

Park Place (formerly Molson Park) is a shopping centre located in the south end of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The land operated as a brewery from 1967–1999, and as a high-capacity outdoor concert venue from 1987–2005. As a music venue, Molson Park saw acts including Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Aretha Franklin, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, NOFX, and Oasis. From 2002–2004, the abandoned brewery operated as the largest illegal marijuana grow-operation in Canadian history.The current shopping centre includes a Best Buy, LA Fitness, Marshall's, and a Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Allandale Waterfront GO Station was built just south of Allandale Station, a historic train station that occupies a large property on the southern shore of Lake Simcoe in the waterfront area of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The current station and former station were built on a burial site of the Huron indigenous peoples. Construction of the new facility began in 2009. GO Transit announced on 15 June 2011 that the station would open in the autumn of 2011, but construction delayed its opening until January 2012. Bus service to the station began on 28 January 2012, with the train service following two days later. A ceremonial train trip from Allandale Waterfront GO Station to Bradford GO Station officially opened the station on 29 January 2012.

CFJB-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 95.7 FM in Barrie, Ontario. The station broadcasts an active rock format branded as "Rock 95". Owned by Central Ontario Broadcasting (Rock 95 Broadcasting (Barrie-Orillia) Ltd.), the station launched on October 7, 1988. CFJB can be heard as far south as Mississauga, and as far north as Parry Sound. It cannot be heard in the southeast due to adjacent station CJKX-FM broadcasting on 95.9 FMThe call letters once belonged to a Brampton radio station, in the 1950s. On May 7, 2012, CFJB's owners (Central Ontario Broadcasting) were granted permission to launch a sister station in Toronto on 88.1 MHz, CIND-FM.

CIQB-FM (101.1 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Barrie, Ontario. The station uses the on-air brand name Big 101 and is owned by Corus Entertainment, which also owns sister station CHAY-FM. CIQB broadcasts a classic hits format, switching to Christmas music for much of November and December.

Barrie was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 2004 to 2015. It consisted of the City of Barrie in the County of Simcoe. It was created in 2003 when its predecessor, Barrie—Simcoe—Bradford, was redistributed. Barrie—Simcoe—Bradford consisted of the City of Barrie and the towns of Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil. It had been formed in 1996 as Barrie—Simcoe from Simcoe Centre and York—Simcoe ridings, but its name was changed before an election was held.

S. Peter's Catholic Secondary School is located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It is a member of the Simcoe Musoka Catholic District School Board. The school is informally referred to as St. Pete's or St. Peter's. St. Peters was founded in 1996 and had an addition built on the west side of the school in 2010-2011 which consisted of six new classrooms, a new dance studio and fitness room, and a new student success center to accommodate the growing number of students. St. Peters also has a daycare/preschool attached to it. Six feeder schools contribute to the high school's population each year, these include but are not limited to: Holy Cross Catholic School, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School, St. John Paul II Catholic School, St John Vianney Catholic School, and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School. The school's population is approximately 1150 students. The principal is Brad Shoreman and vice principals are Janet Cinnamon and Rose Lafrance. Although the school colours are gray and purple the uniforms are white, black, dark green, and gray. The uniforms include articles such as: polo shirts, vests, sweaters, cardigans, dress pants, walking shorts, capris, and gym apparel as well. Students are only allowed to wear plain black or white t-shirts or long sleeved shirts under their uniforms. Black jeans, yoga pants and or any other bottoms that are not school issued dress pants are not permitted. To avoid this problem St. Peters dress pants are fashioned with a yellow paw print sewn into the side of the right pant leg to help staff identify which students are wearing the proper pants. Annual events include Monsignor Clair Cup, Halloween dress up day, Spirit week, Clash of Colours, PJ Day, Christmas assembly, Talent show, sears festival, locker clean-out, Ash Wednesday, Catholic Education Week, Ecuador Mission Trip, Film Festival, and Pride week. These events help to solidify a strong school community and help build teamwork skills as most of these events you participate as groups, teams, or grades.

Sadlon Arena (formerly known as the Barrie Molson Centre) is a 4,195-seat multi-purpose arena in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It is primarily home to the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League. It is located in the south end of the city on Bayview Drive at Mapleview Drive, near Park Place and big box shopping plazas. The arena hosted its first OHL game on December 31, 1995, when the Barrie Colts hosted the Sudbury Wolves. The Colts played the first half of their inaugural season at the old Dunlop Arena while the BMC was under construction. It is the former home of the Barrie Lakeshores of Major Series Lacrosse. The Molson Centre hosted the 2013 The Dominion Tankard, the provincial curling championship.The naming agreement for the Barrie Molson Centre ended on December 31, 2018. As a result, the City of Barrie placed an interim sign on the arena with the initials BMC until a new sponsor was found. On November 26, 2019, the city announced that a new, 10-year naming rights agreement with Paul Sadlon Motors (a local auto dealership) had been approved that will change the name of the facility to "Sadlon Arena".

CKMB-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 107.5 FM in Barrie, Ontario. The station airs music in the hot adult contemporary format. The station was launched in 2001 by Central Ontario Broadcasting (Rock 95 Broadcasting (Barrie-Orillia) Ltd.), the owners of CFJB. It was launched as Star 107.5.CKMB's call letters were taken from station owner Doug Bingley's desire to name the station after his children, Michael, Matthew and Megan Bingley. He had originally wanted to use the call letters for CFJB when that station was launched in 1988, although the call sign was not available at that time. On August 20, 2004, the CRTC approved Rock 95's application to change CKMB's frequency to 107.7 MHz and to change the authorized contours by relocating the transmitter. The change to 107.7 MHz was never implemented. In December 2005, CKMB rebranded from Star 107.5 to 107.5 Kool FM and began more current/recurrent airplay over classic airplay.

Barrie—Innisfil is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The riding was created in 2015 from portions of Barrie and York—Simcoe ridings, and it is congruent with the new federal riding of the same name.

Prince of Wales Public School, built in 1876, was the oldest elementary school in the Simcoe County District School Board. The school was located in downtown Barrie, Ontario, Canada and shared a field with neighbouring Barrie Central Collegiate Institute. It was one of two elementary schools in Barrie, Ontario to offer an Extended French program. The last principal was Jan Olson. Prince of Wales officially closed on June 30, 2011.
