Picacho Hills is an planned community and census-designated place (CDP) in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The community is in central Doña Ana County, 6 miles (10 km) west of the center of Las Cruces and on the west side of the Rio Grande valley, on a hillside rising above the older community of Picacho. The CDP takes its name from Picacho Hills Country Club, around which the residential areas of the community have been built. It is located in Las Cruces Public Schools.

Picacho Mountain, also known as El Picacho and Picacho Peak, is a summit in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. It rises to an elevation of 4,954 feet / 1,510 meters.

Prehistoric Trackways National Monument is a national monument in the Robledo Mountains of Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States, near the city of Las Cruces. The monument's Paleozoic Era fossils are on 5,255 acres (2,127 ha) of land administered by the Bureau of Land Management. It became the 100th active U.S. national monument when it was designated on March 30, 2009.

Fairacres is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States. Its population was 824 as of the 2010 census. Fairacres has a post office with ZIP code 88033, which opened on June 15, 1926. U.S. Route 70 passes through the community.

Picacho, is a populated place in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. It lies at an elevation of 3,907 feet / 1,191 meters.

Box Canyon, originally known as Picacho Pass, is a canyon in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. Its mouth lies at an elevation of 3,927 feet (1,197 m). Its source is at 32°20′3″N 106°56′31″W.

The Robledo Mountains are a mountain range in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, just northwest of Las Cruces. They are an uplifted block of Paleozoic rocks on the west side of the Rio Grande Rift.The range was named for Pedro Robledo, who died on May 21, 1598, and was buried nearby. Robledo was the first casualty of the Oñate expedition, sent to colonize the upper Rio Grande valley. A native of Toledo, Spain, Robledo was accompanied on the expedition by his wife and five children. These mountains are home to Early Permian trackways of invertebrates and vertebrates. In 2009, the main locality was designated the 100th active national monument in the United States, and named Prehistoric Trackways National Monument. Rock outcrops in the area preserve numerous examples of early Permian trackways. These trackways include prints of Dimetrodon, Edaphosaurus, Eryops, Cacops and many other small pelycosaurs.

The First Battle of Mesilla, was fought on July 25, 1861 at Mesilla in New Mexico Territory, in present-day Doña Ana County, New Mexico. It was an engagement between Confederate and Union forces during the American Civil War. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory and led directly to the official establishing of a Confederate Arizona Territory, consisting of the southern portion of the New Mexico Territory. The victory paved the way for the Confederate New Mexico Campaign the following year.

KOBE (1450 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Conservative News Talk format. Licensed to Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States, the station opened for operation on October 4, 1947, and serves the Las Cruces area. The station is currently owned by Bravo Mic Communications, LLC. Its studios and transmitter are located separately in Las Cruces. On September 1, 2019 KOBE returned their format to news/talk from Spanish CHR.

Mesilla (also known as La Mesilla and Old Mesilla) is a town in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 2,196 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Las Cruces Metropolitan Statistical Area. During the Civil War, Mesilla briefly served as capital of the Confederate Territory of Arizona. The Mesilla Plaza is a National Historic Landmark.

Mayfield High School (MHS) is one of four traditional public high schools in Las Cruces, New Mexico. As of 2009–10, the school has over 2,300 students and 130 teachers, and covers grades 9–12. The school is a part of the Las Cruces Public Schools district.

The Second Battle of Mesilla was an unusual engagement of the American Civil War. It was fought on July 1, 1862, and was the last engagement between Union and Confederate forces in the Arizona Territory. A skirmish outside of Confederate Arizona's capital of Mesilla between a confederate party and local pro-Union New Mexican guerrillas resisting the Confederate foraging expedition, resulted in a United States victory. Various accounts report from seven to twelve Confederates killed, including their commander Capt. Cleaver of the 7th Texas Infantry and as many as 40 of the local guerrillas.The arrival of the advance party of the California Column on the west bank of the Rio Grande on July 4, 1862, prompted the rebel army to begin withdrawal to Franklin and then San Antonio three days later, covered by Herbert's Battalion of Arizona Cavalry acting as rearguard.
