Caherconlish

Caherline GAA (Irish: Cathair Laighin) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in County Limerick, Ireland. It is based in the parish of Caherline/Caherconlish in the east division of Limerick GAA.

Caherelly (Irish: Cathair Ailí, meaning 'fort of the rocky place') is a civil parish in County Limerick, Ireland. Caherelly National School, also known as Scoil Ailbhe, is the local national (primary) school. The local Gaelic Athletic Association club, Ballybricken/Bohermore GAA Club, has its grounds in the area.

The Cistercian Abbey of Woney (Irish, Mainistir Uaithne), also written Wotheny or Owney, on the banks of the Mulkear River in Abington, County Limerick, was founded in 1205 when Theobald Walter (le Botiller) granted the whole "theodum" (believed to be an error, which should have been feodum) of Woodenikuwice for the purpose. Traces of the architecture and layout of the monastery may still seen in the graveyard in the hamlet of Abington, just south of Murroe. In the early fourteenth century the possessions of the abbey included the lands of Athnid parish in County Tipperary.Around 1563, the abbey and all its possessions were granted by Elizabeth I to a Captain Walshe who erected a new house near the old buildings. In 1609, part of the lands which formerly belonged to the abbey were conveyed by Sir E. Walsh to Sir Richard Boyle. In the war of 1641 the estates granted to the Walshe family were forfeited to the Crown.

Abington (Irish: Mainistir Uaithne) is a townland in the civil parish of Abington in County Limerick, Ireland. The ruins of the mediaeval Abbey of Woney are located in the local graveyard. The local Church of Ireland church, Saint John's church, designed by James Rawson Carroll and built in 1869, is in the Diocese of Limerick and Killaloe.As of the 2011 census, Abington townland had a population of 139 people.

Abington is a civil parish which lies partly in County Tipperary (in the barony of Owney and Arra) and partly in County Limerick (partly in Limerick city and partly in the baronies of Clanwilliam and Owneybeg).It was home for a time to the author Sheridan Le Fanu. Le Fanu stayed in the parish as a child while his father was the rector of Abington Anglican Church.By statute, the parish contains 32,200 acres (13,000 ha), of which 12,290 acres (4,970 ha) are in County Tipperary. Of the 19,280 acres (7,800 ha) in County Limerick, 708 acres (287 ha) are in the liberties of the city of Limerick and the remainder are split between the baronies of Clanwilliam and Owneybeg. The hamlet and townland of Abington is in the County Limerick part of the parish.

Ballybricken (Irish: Baile Uí Bhricín, meaning 'the town of Ó Bricín') is an area in the east of County Limerick in Ireland. It is in the civil parish of Caherelly, approximately 18 kilometres (11 miles) from Limerick city. Ballybricken is mainly a farming area.

Killeenagarriff (Irish: Cill Mhic Con Ghairbh, meaning 'church of the son of Cú Garbh') is a civil parish in the historical barony of Clanwilliam in County Limerick, Ireland. Settlements in Killeenagarriff include the town of Annacotty, and population centres at Ahane and Barringtonsbridge. The Roman Catholic church at Ahane, built in the mid-1830s and dedicated to Saint Patrick, was described in Samuel Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland (1837) as a "large new chapel". Its construction is reputed to contain a doorcase "reclaimed" from the ruins of Quin Abbey in neighbouring County Clare. Thornfield House, also in Ahane and dating from at least the early 19th century, was the home of General Richard Bourke, who retired there after a term as Governor of New South Wales in Australia. Barringtonsbridge, which spans into the neighbouring parish of Clonkeen, is a small settlement which developed near a metal bridge. This metal bridge was built, by the Barrington family, in the early 19th century over the Killeengarriff River. Killeenagarriff Church, a small ruined medieval church in Killeenagarriff townland, is sited in a churchyard which is bounded by the Killeengarriff River. The Killeenagarriff River later joins the Mulkear River.

Gortroe is a civil parish in the eastern region of County Cork, Ireland. In 1834, the Rathcormac-Gortroe massacre took place in the area during the Tithe War.

It is part of the ecclesiastical parish of "Hospital and Herbertstown", in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly. Herbertstown is in the centre of the electoral division of Cahercorney stretching from Ballingoola in the north-east, Ballyloundash in the east and Kilcullane in the south.

Hospital-Herbertstown is a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling and football club in County Limerick, Ireland, and is based in the South Division. Hospital-Herbertstown competed in the County Senior Hurling Championship in 2011 following the club's victory in the 2010 County Intermediate Hurling Championship. The club competes in the Limerick Intermediate Football Championship also. Some Hospital-Herbertstown players that have represented Limerick include former captain Damien Reale as well as Jimmy Carroll, Liam Garvey, Andy Garvey and Colm Hickey.
