The Meatball Shop is a New York City based restaurant owned and operated by native New Yorkers Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow, who met as teenagers when they worked together as delivery boys at the New York vegan restaurant Candle Cafe.

Arlene's Grocery is a bar and music venue located in the Lower East Side district of Manhattan. It is located at 95 Stanton Street between Orchard St and Ludlow St. The venue was opened by Shane Doyle and two partners in 1995. Shane Doyle was also owner and founder of Sin-é. While Shane was bought out early on, the two remaining partners run the club.

Rafael Hernandez Houses, also known as Hernandez Houses, is a public housing development built and maintained by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Rockwood Music Hall is a music venue at 196 Allen Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Owner Ken Rockwood, aka "The Professor", opened the establishment in 2005 as a small bar and music venue. Today, the venue features three stages (2 larger rooms upstairs and one smaller room downstairs). Rockwood also has a record label, Rockwood Music Hall Recordings, which was founded in 2013. Artists who have performed at Rockwood include Sara Bareilles, Sting, Norah Jones, Lady Gaga, Between Giants, Jessie J, John Gallagher, Jr., Giselle Bellas, Mumford & Sons, and Billie Joe Armstrong.

Pianos is a two-story bar/restaurant/live music venue in the Lower East Side section of Manhattan at 158 Ludlow Street. Its stage attracts local and national alternative rock groups as well as DJs, though a more typical performance consists of smaller name local and touring acts. Pianos follows the example of Arlene's Grocery by keeping the "Pianos" name and sign from the store that previously existed there when it was conceivable that a piano store might make it on the Lower East Side. Pianos has two stages: one that has upstairs in a funky loungelike setting, and one in a back room off the main floor.Seth Kugel of The New York Times praised Pianos' menu as "surprisingly respectable", likening it to bar food that has been subjected to a transformation on Extreme Makeover. Kugel singled out the red wine burger encrusted in black pepper, and fried mozzarella served with roasted basil tomato.Pianos currently hosts nightly concerts in their live music room. While displaying multiple genres, they are noted to host local hard and alternative rock bands like Mach Dharma and they have also given a Saturday night headlining residency to rock power trio Violent in Black.

Cake Shop was a New York City music venue, bar, and cafe in the Lower East Side of Manhattan that opened in 2005. Located at 152 Ludlow Street between Stanton Street and Rivington Street, Cake Shop offered a full bar and records for sale, but it was best known as a rock club, hosting new and upcoming bands, as well as established acts almost nightly in its basement. Considered a crucial stop on the national tour circuit, Cake Shop was regarded as one of the few venues left in Manhattan open to hosting "independent underground pop music" produced by bands considered too limited in appeal to perform elsewhere. Co-owner Nick Bodor referred to Cake Shop's booking policy as follows: “We are not going to book something unless we believe it’s at least interesting.” Established groups like Vampire Weekend, The Dirty Projectors, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have credited Cake Shop with helping them kickstart their respective music careers.Due to rising costs associated with the neighborhood's gentrification and issues of sustainability related to the venue's "long running" business model, the owners decided to close at the end of 2016. Cakeshop's final week was marked by nightly shows and special events. December 31, 2016 was Cakeshop's final night in operation.

Teany, sometimes stylized as TeaNY or teany, was a tea café, restaurant and beverage distributor in New York City founded by electronic musician Moby with ex-girlfriend, Kelly Tisdale. The Teany Café opened in 2002 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York at 90 Rivington Street and closed in 2015. The cafe was known for its assortment of teas, vegan options, and its decor, most of which was designed by Moby himself. Teany also featured, during the first few months of its opening, the raw food specialty, Go-Go Greens, by vegan celebrity chef, Elijah Joy. Teany made a brief appearance in Moby's 18 B Sides + DVD. In January 2006, Teany was refocused as more of a traditional tea house and offered less food. Kelly took on a larger role on the business side of Teany with Moby taking a smaller one. On June 19, 2009 a fire caused minimal damage to the tea house. Nobody was hurt and, according to Moby's online journal, it was Kelly's decision whether the cafe was going to be rebuilt or not. The tea house reopened in May 2010, briefly rebranded as Teany-ssimo, later reverting to the original name. Teany was shuttered for good in December 2015.The beverage company distributed tea–juice mixtures to a number of shops around New York and New Jersey. In 2005, UK-based suburb secured an exclusive deal to sell Teany beverages and tea at its stores in Manchester and London. The company allowed liberal pronunciation of the brand name, proclaiming, “you can pronounce it however you like. tea-knee. tee-nee. tea-enn-why,” and going on to state that Moby and Kelly themselves pronounce it “teenie”.

Rivington Street was a local station on the demolished IRT Second Avenue Line in Manhattan, New York City. It had two levels. The lower level had two tracks and two side platforms while the upper level had one track that served the express trains. The next stop to the north was First Street. The next stop to the south was Grand Street. The station closed on June 13, 1942.

Envoy Enterprises (stylized as envoy) was a contemporary art gallery located in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Envoy Enterprises was founded by Jimi Dams in 2005 and was the first gallery to abandon its prime location in Chelsea for the Lower East Side in 2007.Artists represented here included Gary Indiana, Michael Lazarus, Narcissister, and Alex Rose. Aside from the exhibitions in its gallery space, Envoy Enterprises featured video and performance artists as well as emerging bands both in the gallery and previously at Home Sweet Home, which was located at their 131 Chrystie Street location. Envoy Enterprises relocated to 87 Rivington Street in Manhattan's Lower East Side in 2012. Envoy Enterprises showcased two different kinds of exhibitions: one extended show for represented artists that changed every six weeks and a "One Day At A Time" exhibition that presented emerging, unrepresented artists on a daily basis. Dams announced that the gallery would close in August 2017.
