Oliver Plunkett Street (Irish: Sráid Olibhéir Pluincéid) is a shopping street in Cork, Ireland. It was originally laid-out in the early 18th century as the city expanded eastwards beyond the original city walls.

Cork General Post Office (GPO) is a historic post office building in Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork, Ireland. Built on the site of an older theatre, it is one of the few An Post offices in Ireland which still retains the General Post Office moniker from the times when the Irish postal service was under the governance of the British General Post Office. The post office is one of Oliver Plunkett Street's most prominent buildings, and is listed as a protected structure.

The Theatre Royal was a patent theatre located in Cork City, Ireland.

The Everyman Theatre is a 650-seat Victorian theatre on MacCurtain Street in Cork, Ireland. It opened in 1897, and is the oldest purpose-built theatre building in Cork. The Everyman has undergone a number of changes in name and use, through its days as "Dan Lowrey’s Palace of Varieties" (hosting Laurel and Hardy and Charlie Chaplin), life as a cinema, periods of disrepair, and redevelopment as a modern theatre in the 1990s.The theatre is housed in a listed (protected) Victorian building with a large stage and auditorium, a proscenium arch, four elaborately decorated boxes, a studio space and a bar. The Everyman's programme is a mix of plays, operas, musicals and concerts, but it specialises in drama and usually stages three in-house productions per year. In the summer months, it hosts productions by Irish playwrights. Other recurring events include the Guinness Jazz Festival in October (for which the theatre is a primary venue), and the Christmas pantomime. A unique feature of the Everyman Palace is that its front of house ushering staff is composed entirely of volunteers.

Cork (; Irish: Corcaigh [ˈkɔɾˠkɪɟ], from corcach, meaning "marsh") is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest in the island of Ireland located in the south-west of Ireland, in the province of Munster. Following an extension to the city's boundary in 2019, its population is c. 210,000.The city centre is an island positioned between two channels of the River Lee which meet downstream at the eastern end of the city centre, where the quays and docks along the river lead outwards towards Lough Mahon and Cork Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world.Originally a monastic settlement, Cork was expanded by Viking invaders around 915. Its charter was granted by Prince John in 1185. Cork city was once fully walled, and the remnants of the old medieval town centre can be found around South and North Main streets. The third largest city by population on the island of Ireland, the city's cognomen of "the rebel city" originates in its support for the Yorkist cause in the Wars of the Roses. Corkonians sometimes refer to the city as "the real capital", a reference to its opposition to the Anglo-Irish Treaty in the Irish Civil War.

Parnell Place (Irish: Plás Parnell) is a street in Cork, Ireland. It is a major south-to-north route across the city centre, and the location of Parnell Place Bus Station. In the south, it starts at the junction with South Mall, Lapp's Quay and Parnell Bridge, running to Merchant's Quay in the north. It is intersected by Oliver Plunkett Street and has junctions with the more minor Maylor Street and Merchant's Street. Like the bus station and bridge, the street is named for Charles Stewart Parnell. Previously, Parnell Place has been variously known as Cold Harbour, Nelson's Quay and Warren's Place.

South Mall (Irish: An Meall Theas) is one of the main streets of Cork city, Ireland. It runs from Grand Parade in the west to Parnell Place in the east. Like Grand Parade and St. Patrick's Street, it is built over what was once a channel of the River Lee.

St Patrick's Street (Irish: Sráid Naomh Pádraig) is the main shopping street of the city of Cork in the south of Ireland. The street was subject to redevelopment in 2004, and has since won two awards as Ireland's best shopping street. St Patrick's Street is colloquially known to some locals as "Pana".

Cork Opera House is a theatre and opera house in Cork in Ireland. The first venue opened in 1855 on Emmet Place (then known as Nelson's Place) to the rear of the Crawford Art Gallery. This original building was destroyed by fire in 1955, and a replacement opened in 1965. With a number of additions in the early 21st century, the 1000-seat venue hosted over 100 theatre, music, opera, and comedy events in 2015.

Scoil Mhuire is a private Catholic all-girl school, located on Wellington Road, in Cork City. It provides classes from kindergarten to Leaving Certificate. The school was founded by three women, one of whom remains as its Trustee. It has no board of management, instead having a school manager who works alongside the principal.

Metropolitan Cork is a semi-official term which refers to the city of Cork, Ireland, its suburbs, the rural hinterland that surrounds it, and a number of the towns and villages in that hinterland. Some of the latter towns and villages are within the administrative area of County Cork. The term Metropolitan Cork was used in the Cork Area Strategic Plan to refer to the area whose labour and property market is shared with the city. The plan declared that it was envisaged as an area with "an integrated transport system, and the social, cultural and educational facilities of a modern European city". Metropolitan Cork is the core employment hub of the "Greater Cork" area. The term is loosely defined but has been taken by authorities to include the city of Cork, its suburbs and the towns of Ballincollig, Blarney, Carrigaline, Carrigtwohill, Cobh, Douglas, Glanmire, Glounthaune, Midleton, Passage West and Ringaskiddy.According to the Cork Area Transit System (CATS) Study Final Report of February 2010, at that time, the metropolitan area covered 820km2 and approximately 270,000 people.By mid-2018, legislation was drafted to expand the boundary of Cork city, to include a number of the metropolitan area towns (such as Blarney and Carrigtwohill). This change proposed to bring much of "Metropolitan Cork" within the bounds of the Cork City Council area. On 31 May 2019, the boundary change came into force, with the city bounds being extended to include Ballincollig, Blarney, Glanmire, Rochestown, Grange and Cork Airport, and thereby increasing the city population from 125,000 to approximately 210,000.

Parnell Place Bus Station is the principal bus station in Cork, Ireland, for Expressway and Regional services operated by Bus Éireann, InterCity services operated by GoBé, and international services operated by Eurolines. Historically, all regional bus services to or from Cork City used Parnell Place bus station, but in recent years a number of services to nearby towns such as Ballincollig, Crosshaven, Carrigaline and Passage West have started using on street bus stops due to capacity constraints.
