Lone Star (formerly, Lonestar) is an unincorporated community in Fresno County, California. It is located on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad 3.25 miles (5 km) east-northeast of Malaga, at an elevation of 318 feet (97 m).The Lonestar post office operated from 1891 to 1895 and from 1900 to 1910. The place was named by the first settlers after their former home state, Texas (the Lone Star State). Other sources, however, say that the town was named by schoolchildren.The town and local school were established in 1882, and the town hall was built in 1899. Many of the early settlers were of Armenian-American descent. The Lone Star Elementary School is still active; students and a librarian at the school are said to have convinced Francis Ford Coppola to adapt the novel The Outsiders into the 1983 film of the same name.

KALZ (96.7 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Fowler, California, and serving the Fresno metropolitan area. It airs a talk radio format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. The studios and offices are located on Shaw Avenue in North Fresno. Programming is simulcast on sister station KRZR 1400 AM in Visalia. KALZ has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 25,000 watts. The transmitter tower is on South Bliss Drive in the Roosevelt neighborhood of Fresno. The station broadcasts using HD Radio technology. The HD-2 digital subchannel formerly carried a classic alternative rock format known as "Alternative Rewind Radio." The HD2 subchannel has since been turned off.

Fresno Pacific University (FPU) is a private Christian university in Fresno, California. It was founded as the Pacific Bible Institute in 1944 by the Pacific District Conference of U.S. Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. The university awarded its first Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965. The first master's degree program was introduced in 1975.

Malaga (Spanish: Málaga) is a census-designated place in Fresno County, California. It is located 6 miles (9.7 km) south-southeast of downtown Fresno, at an elevation of 295 feet (90 m). As of the 2010 census, Malaga had a population of 947.

Fresno Pacific University Biblical Seminary, formerly the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, is the denominational seminary of the United States Mennonite Brethren Churches. It was founded in 1955 in Fresno, California. The campus is located on the campus of Fresno Pacific University in southeast Fresno. The seminary is a member of the Associated Canadian Theological Schools and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and offers Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees in various ministry and bible-related subjects. It also offers several graduate-level diploma and certificate courses.

Sunnyside (formerly, Maltermoro) is a census-designated place in Fresno County, California. It is located on the Southern Pacific Railroad 5 miles (8 km) north-northeast of Malaga, at an elevation of 328 ft (100 m). It is an eastern suburb of Fresno. At the 2010 census, Sunnyside's population was 4,235. The Maltermoro post office operated from 1894 to 1913. The name honored postmaster George H. Malter.

Las Palmas (Spanish for "The Palms") is a former unincorporated community in Fresno County, California, now incorporated in Fresno. It lies at an elevation of 331 feet (101 m).

Radio Bilingüe is a non-profit public radio network with Latino control and leadership, is the only United States national distributor of public radio programming in the Spanish language. It is based in Fresno, California.This satellite network was formed to provide stations with news, information, and cultural programming in Spanish and musical programs showcasing a variety of Latino formats with emphasis on Mexican folk and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Satélite Radio Bilingüe builds on Radio Bilingüe's decades-old tradition of talk programs, special events coverage and its flagship news service, Noticiero Latino, for stations across the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Radio Bilingüe is the recognized Spanish-language radio service for the public radio system in the United States. It serves over half a million listeners with its pioneering daily Spanish-language national talk show, Línea Abierta, its independently produced news service, Noticiero Latino, and its rainbow of Spanish-language folk music for its national Latino audiences. The entire 24-hour daily operation is totally devoted to public service. Radio Bilingüe has a full-time staff of twenty-five and a budget of two million dollars. Its funders include the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The California Endowment, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council, the California State Health Department - Tobacco Control Section, and many other funding partners interested in informing hard-to-reach, low-income, Latino populations in California and across the U.S.

Fresno Adventist Academy (FAA) is a K-12 school in Fresno, California owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Established in 1897, FAA is the only Seventh-day Adventist high school in the surrounding area. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system, overseen by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists located in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The Big Fresno Fair, founded in 1884, is an annual fair held at the Fresno County Fairgrounds. The Big Fresno Fair is managed by the 21st District Agricultural Association, an entity of the California Department of Food and Agriculture Division of Fairs & Expositions. It is the largest annual event in the San Joaquin Valley, attracting around 600,000 people each October during its twelve-day run featuring exhibits, a livestock show, live horse racing, musical entertainment, educational programs and more. The Fresno Fairgrounds hosts more than 250 annual events such as conventions, trade shows and banquets located in Fresno, California. More than 1.5 million people visit the Fresno Fairgrounds annually.

Calwa (formerly, Calwa City) is an unincorporated census-designated place in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 2,052 at the 2010 census, up from 762 in 2000. Calwa is located 4 miles (6.4 km) south-southeast of downtown Fresno, at an elevation of 292 feet (89 m). The name was taken from the acronym for "California Wine Association" (CalWA).
