The Lower Township School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade from Lower Township, in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2020–21 school year, the district, comprised of four schools, had an enrollment of 1,519 students and 149.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.2:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "B", the second lowest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.The Lower Township School District participates in the Interdistrict Public School Choice Program, which allows non-resident students to attend the district's schools without cost to their parents, with tuition paid by the state. Seats in the program for non-resident students are specified by the district and are allocated by lottery.For seventh through twelfth grades, public school students attend the schools of the Lower Cape May Regional School District, which also serves students from Cape May City and West Cape May, along with students from Cape May Point who attend the district as part of a sending/receiving relationship. Schools in the district (with 2020–21 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics) are Richard M. Teitelman Middle School with 480 students in grades 7-8 and Lower Cape May Regional High School with 750 students in grades 9–12.

The Cape May Canal is a 2.9-nautical-mile (3.3 mi; 5.4 km) waterway connecting Cape May Harbor to the Delaware Bay, at the southern tip of Cape May County, New Jersey. There is a long history of unfulfilled plans for a canal across Cape May. The canal was finally constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers during World War II to provide a protected route to avoid German U-boats operating off Cape May Point and to become part of the Intracoastal Waterway. The canal was dredged as a wartime emergency measure in 1942 and was the final link in a protected waterway intended to allow coastal shipping to travel along the coast with a greatly reduced risk of attack from German submarines.

Cold Spring Grange Hall is a historic building located in the Cold Spring section of Lower Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. The hall was built in 1912 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 30, 1998.It was used as a Grange Hall. The Grange Hall is at the entrance of Historic Cold Spring Village and is run as a restaurant.

Rio Grande is a historic passenger station located in Lower Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. The station was built in 1894 by the Atlantic City Railroad. Subsequently, the station served passengers on the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines.The station was donated to Historic Cold Spring Village, a history museum in Lower Township, and it was moved to the museum site in 1975. It now operates as a seasonal heritage railroad station for the Cape May Seashore Lines. The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 13, 2007, for its significance in architecture. In the summer of 2013, the Cape May Seashore Lines operated Gas-powered speeder cars from Cold Spring Station to approximately one mile south on the line for the public. Since scrap vandals ravaged tracks from Woodbine to Dennisville in the summer of 2012, no locomotives or railcars have been able to operate to Cold Spring station or points farther south since 2011.

Owen Coachman House is located in Lower Township, Cape May County, New Jersey. The original one-room house was built between 1695 and 1700 in Townbank along Delaware Bay. It was moved to its present location on Shunpike Road on Cape Island in 1846. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in September 2005. Restoration work performed on the property in the early 2000s won an award from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for its quality and sensitivity to the historic nature of the house.

The Octagonal Poultry House, also known as the Walter P. Taylor Octagon, is a historic octagonal farm building located in Cold Spring, in Lower Township in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. It was built to house hens, who supposedly like to nest in corners. Eventually it became a children's playhouse. Today the broom maker works there at Historic Cold Spring Village. Historic Cold Spring Village originally used it as a storage shed, but eventually recognized its potential as a good place to learn about the art of needlework and crocheting.On March 14, 2008. it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The township, and all of Cape May County, is part of the Ocean City metropolitan statistical area, and is part of the Philadelphia-Wilmington-Camden, PA-NJ-DE-MD combined statistical area, also known as the Delaware Valley or Philadelphia metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 22,057, a decrease of 809 (−3.5%) from the 2010 census count of 22,866, which in turn reflected a decrease of 79 (−0.3%) from the 22,945 counted in the 2000 census.New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Lower Township as its 34th best place to live in its 2008 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in New Jersey. The township is part of the state's South Jersey region and the larger Delaware Valley or Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Turdo Vineyard & Winery ( toor-DOH) is a winery in the North Cape May section of Lower Township in Cape May County, New Jersey. The vineyard was first planted in 1999, and opened to the public in 2004. Turdo has 5 acres of grapes under cultivation, and produces 1,100 cases of wine per year. The winery is named after the family that owns it.
